How Vitamin E Can Save Your Skin!

Vitamin E is a miracle skincare ingredient that can work wonders for dry and damaged skin. It is a powerful anti-oxidant with anti-inflammatory properties and is also known to reduce UV damage caused by prolonged exposure of skin to sunlight. It is also proven to be extremely effective in treating skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis.

While Vitamin E is naturally present in the skin, factors such as sun exposure and aging can reduce the Vitamin E levels in the skin. This is why you need to incorporate it into your diet as well as in your skincare, especially if you have been noticing dullness and dryness on your skin. Nowadays, there are a lot of skincare products available in the market that contain Vitamin E as a key ingredient. Here are some of my favourite picks from The Body Shop Vitamin E range that are excellent at repairing damaged skin and restoring a youthful glow to the face.

  1. The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil – Overnight treatments give the quickest and most drastic results when it comes to repairing the skin because the ingredients get substantial time to work their magic without any external factors like sunlight and pollution coming in the way. The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil is a rich concoction of Vitamin E Oil combined with Community Trade sesame seed oil from Nicaragua. This product contains the highest concentration of wheatgerm oil among all the products from the Vitamin E range. You need to apply this serum after cleansing and toning your skin and top it up with a moisturiser to wake up to rejuvenated skin that looks well-rested.
  2. The Body Shop Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream – This Vitamin E Cream has been a cult favourite since its launch and with good reason. It is specially formulated for those with extremely dry skin and true to its name, it provides intense hydration to the skin. It makes the skin super soft and smooth from the very first application and the results only get better with time. It can be used along with a serum or on its own and can be applied in the morning as well as at night. This jar of goodness is a must have for those who want an instant rescue from dry skin.
  3. The Body Shop Vitamin E Day Lotion (SPF 30) – If you are looking for something light-weight yet nourishing, The Body Shop Vitamin E Day Lotion is the perfect product for you. It has a milky formula that provides hydration without being thick or greasy. This lotion also contains SPF 30 and provides protection from UVA and UVB rays, which make it perfect for daytime use. It sinks into the skin within seconds but continues to nourish and protect it for hours and is an excellent base for makeup too!

Maybelline Color Show Nail Color Remover | Review

Who on earth needs a review for a nail polish remover, right? Well, I am writing one anyway because you need to know about this particular nail color remover if you haven’t already. If you hate the scent of most nail polish removers and are too impatient to spend more than a couple of minutes on removing your nail paint then you must read on!

Maybelline Color Show Nail Color Remover | Review

The Maybelline Color Show Nail Color Remover does smell like a regular nail polish remover in the bottle, but once you use it on your nails, it actually leaves behind a pleasant scent. Also, this product is able to remove the more stubborn formulas with significant ease. I am talking about the gel finish nail paints and those with chunky glitter in them. Also, you need just a dab of the product for both the hands, which means that the bottle lasts for quite some time.

Maybelline Color Show Nail Color Remover | Review

The formula also claims to contain Vitamin E which is supposed to be really good for the nails. Personally, I have noticed that my nails stain less since I have switched to this nail paint remover. I am talking about the yellowing that happens on the nails when you don’t leave them bare for adequate time in between manicures (I plead guilty).

Maybelline Color Show Nail Color Remover | Review

The efficacy of this nail polish remover justifies the price point of INR 90 for a 30ml bottle. If you are in the market for a new nail paint remover then I recommend trying this one. I am sure you won’t be disappointed!

Mitti Se Wild Essence Face Wash | Review

Mitti Se is an Indian brand that has recently received a lot of love from beauty bloggers, particularly on Instagram. The brand creates all natural products from ingredients that have been used in traditional Indian skincare for centuries. Somehow, I never got around to trying out the brand because I had way too much skincare to test out already but when I saw a sample size of the Mitti Se Wild Essence Face Wash on Smytten, I grabbed it. Ever since I started using this product, I have literally been kicking myself for not trying it out earlier because it is so good! So let us look at what this product claims to do in greater detail.

Mitti Se Wild Essence Face Wash | Review

This product is an all-natural powder based facewash which you need to mix with water to apply to the face and it can be used as a face pack as well. What got me really excited about this face wash is the fact that it contains orange peel, lemon peel, and the essential oil of orange. I have recently been hearing such great things about the anti-pigmentation and anti-oxidizing benefits of Vitamin C that I have been trying to gradually incorporate it into my regimen and this product seemed like a great way to do the same. It also contains almond powder which acts as a mild scrub and a source of Vitamin E. Other ingredients included black and red gram flour and fuller’s earth (Multani mitti), which form an essential part of any homemade Indian facemask and have anti-tanning properties. This is combined with extracts of rose, neem, and turmeric that prevent acne and have anti-bacterial properties. Due to its mild exfoliating properties and the presence of anti-bacterial ingredients, this product does live up to its claims of being an anti-acne and anti-suntan face wash.

Mitti Se Wild Essence Face Wash | Review

I personally prefer using this product as a face mask because then it gives even better results. I am usually not a fan of “high-maintenance” products that need to be made into a paste, as opposed to those that can be used directly out of the jar, but in fact, I quite enjoyed making this paste because the powder dissolves really well in the water and forms a smooth paste quite easily. Since I had purchased only a sample pack, I made the paste in bulk and stored it in the fridge. Less than 10gms of the product gave me more than 5 uses which is very impressive. I massage this paste onto my skin to gently exfoliate my face and then let it dry for a good 10 minutes before washing it off. This mask sucks out all the oil from my face and brings a natural glow to my skin. What I love a lot about the product is the zesty scent of oranges that truly wakes me up in the mornings and makes me feel like I am using something pure on my face.

Mitti Se Wild Essence Face Wash | Review

If you are someone with oily and acne prone skin then you must use this product as a face pack and if you have normal to dry skin then sticking to it as a face wash would be better. With regular use, it does eliminate dead cells to get rid of a tan and also dries up any pimples to reveal clearer skin. Overall, I do not see any cons to the product and the price of INR 220 for 40gms is pretty reasonable considering the quality and the small quantity of product required per use. You can buy this product on Amazon and can also order a sample from Smytten if you are a member. If you are looking for some last minute skin detox before Diwali for that festive glow then this product will definitely be your knight in shining armour!

Streax Pro Vita Gloss Hair Serum | Review

Hair serum is a product that is an essential component of most people’s beauty routine. However, as of late, I have observed that the prices of hair serums have been steadily increasing. If you are looking for an affordable hair serum for regular usage, something that gets the job done without leaving you broke, then you have come to the right place!

IMG_8736

The Streax Pro Vita Gloss Hair Serum is my recommendation to those who wish to add some smoothness to their hair after washing. It does not work miracles, but definitely reduces frizziness and adds a pleasant smell to the hair. It works pretty well with mildly tangled hair but may not be able to remove stubborn knots. I primarily use it for adding nourishment to the ends of my hair.

IMG_8740.JPG

The formula has a thin consistency, almost like water, which means that the product spreads evenly on the hair, offering a slight glossiness to the ends. The best thing about the packaging is that it has a pump, which prevents wastage of product and makes sure that you use just the right amount. A little goes a long way with this serum so I would advise using half a pump if you have thin hair and one pump in case you have voluminous hair.

IMG_8770.JPG

A 100ml bottle of this serum is priced at INR 185 but can be purchased for INR 150 from online stores. This is an extremely affordable product that works as well as some of the fancier hair serums. Furthermore, one bottle lasts for a very long time, which makes this hair serum even more pocket-friendly. It feels so good to find a product that offers great performance at a drugstore price!

I hope that this review was useful, you can buy the Streax Pro Vita Gloss Hair Serum here.

Kara Nail Polish Remover Wipes | Review

Today I will talk about a product that makes the process of painting the nails even more pleasurable. The Kara Nail Polish Remover Wipes are an excellent alternative to carrying around a bottle of liquid nail paint remover when you are traveling. Each wipe is soaked with Olive Oil and Vitamin E that help to keep the nails well nourished and hydrated. A single wipe is capable of removing the nail paint from both the hands, even when you are wearing a dark color on your nails.

IMG_6783.JPG

Another great thing about this product is that you no longer have to deal with the strands of cotton left behind by cotton pads, when you want to repaint your nails immediately. The only thing I don’t like is that the oil makes the process a little messy and the color and oil may spread all over the fingers. However, the residue comes off quite easily on washing or wiping the fingers with cotton.

The wipes are available in different scents but my favorite is the strawberry one. A pack of 30 wipes is priced at INR 100, which is quite reasonable considering that the product is very effective and acetone free too. These nail wipes are extremely convenient to use and have become a handbag essential for me.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Eyes Cube | Review

A majority of our time these days is spent in staring at laptop or cell phone screens and most of us are definitely not getting sufficient sleep. Tired and puffy eyes are inevitable under such circumstances, which is where this product comes into the picture. The aptly named Vitamin E Eyes Cube from The Body Shop definitely acts like an ice cube for the sore under eye area. It replenishes moisture while eliminating eye bags and providing a refreshing, cooling sensation.

IMG_6590.JPG

I enjoy these kinds of roll on products because their massaging action helps to restore some life to tired skin. This product has a light, creamy texture which absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving any white cast. If you apply one coat then you do not even need to blend it in with your fingers. The formula is enriched with Wheatgerm Oil that contains Vitamin E, which is a magical ingredient for the skin. It reduces puffiness and dryness but does not lighten dark circles, which is fine because the product doesn’t even claim to do that.

IMG_6600.JPG

The cute packaging is tiny enough to easily fit into the handbag for on the go assistance. I only wish that the price was not so steep (INR 1095 for 4gm).  Because of the high price, I would recommend to use this only when you are out and about and resort to cucumber slices or tea bags at home instead. However, if you are willing to splurge or grab it at a discounted rate then this could soon become a daily essential for you.

Vivel Cell Renew Deep Smoothing Body Lotion | Review

I am usually very lazy when it comes to moisturizing my body and therefore opt for lightweight body lotions that get absorbed into the skin quickly. The Vivel Cell Renew Body Lotion – Deep Smoothing is one of my favorites for this precise reason, it is light yet potent enough to make my skin supple and smooth.

IMG_6502.JPG

It is a non-greasy formula with tiny green vitamin E beads that burst on the skin to provide nourishment. To be very honest, one of the primary reasons that I always repurchase this product is because it has a granny smell that I love! If you are a nostalgic soul like me who associates scents with memories then you will understand where I am coming from. It is a strong, sweet smell that reminds me of something that my Grandma used when I was a child.

A 2ooml bottle of this product is available at a very affordable price of INR 250. They also have a night replenish lotion that I am dying to try next!
