3 Habits That Will Transform Your Skin Within a Month!

You may invest buckets of money in high-end skincare products and make regular trips to the salon but may still be noticing dullness, acne or pores on your skin. What is it that you are doing wrong? Perhaps you have not incorporated these skin-changing habits into your lifestyle! And what may these be? Read on to find out!

1. Applying Sunscreen Every Day – “But it isn’t sunny today!”, “I will just cover my face with a scarf”, “I’m stepping out only for a couple of hours” – If these are the excuses you fall back on for not applying sunscreen then you are doing gross injustice to your skin. You need to apply sunscreen DAILY, regardless of the weather conditions or your schedule. Those pesky UV rays are everywhere, and you need sun protection all day long. These days, sunscreen products are available in a number of formulations, from gels to matte lotions and hydrating creams, so pick the formula that suits your skin type the best and hold on to it for dear life!

2. Using a Toner Every Time You Cleanse – Every time you wash your face or use a face mask, the product unclogs your pores and removes all the gunk from them, but after this is done, your pores are still open. This is where a toner comes into the picture. Using a toner helps to close back your pores so that they don’t remain exposed to dirt and pollution. This could be something as simple as rose water or a slightly more intense Vitamin C toner. If you are experiencing bumps and craters on your face then a toner is what you need.

3. Removing Your Makeup Every Night – Contrary to popular belief, it isn’t makeup that destroys your skin but not letting your skin breathe at all. Leaving makeup on overnight is perhaps the worst thing you could do to your skin. No matter how exhausted you are, your skin is even more exhausted and needs to be decongested and allowed to heal overnight. I am a strong believer in double cleansing, so first break down your makeup with a micellar water or cream cleanser and then follow it up with a face wash. Top it up with a toner and moisturiser. This skincare ritual may seem too tedious but trust me, it takes only 5 minutes and will make your skin look so much better the next day.

Making these 3 skincare habits a part of your life can truly make your skin glow from within and look so much healthier. If you have been struggling with skin issues for a long time then do pay heed to these rituals and I am sure your skin will thank you for it!

Tvakh Triple Protection Sunscreen SPF 30+ | Review

When we were kids, most of us hated applying sunscreen, but now when I see a new sunscreen on the market, I can’t wait to get my hands on it! When Tvakh, one of my favourite skincare brands, launched a new sunscreen, I had to buy it. So here is my review of the Tvakh Triple Protection Sunscreen with SPF 30+ which provides protection from not just UV rays but also the blue light from electronic devices.

Tvakh Triple Protection Sunscreen SPF 30+ | Review

About the Product:  “Tvakh’s Triple Protection Sunscreen 30+ is a daily oil-free facial sunscreen for all skin types and is designed specifically as a new generation photo-protection creme that kills environmental aggressors and prevents premature signs of aging caused by free radicals from UVA/UVB, infrared radiation, ozone pollution and blue light radiation from laptop screens, mobile screens, Indoor lights.
The formula combines 5 cutting-edge environmental technologies that provide comprehensive protection against UV damage, pollution, blue light from devices and infrared radiation.

This advanced, innovative, moisturizing lightweight sunscreen shields against High Energy Visible (HEV) Light and diminishes the impact of Infrared (IR) Light — two harmful factors that lead to premature aging and skin damage from the blue-violet and invisible light emitted from electronic devices such as tablets, smartphones and computers making it by far, the most complete active product to effectively fight against all signs of photo-ageing.”

Ingredients – Aqua, Titanium Dioxide, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate*,  Aloe Barbendesis leaf juice, Glycerin, Trehalose, Methoxydibenzoylmethane* Benzophenone-3, Thermus Thermophilis Extract, Cucumber Extract, Melanin, Phospholipids, Papaya Extract, Wheat germ oil, Vegetable Squalane, 1,3-Butylene Glycol, Carbomer, Potassium sorbate, Allantoin. Eco-certified preservative, Essential Oil Blend.

Tvakh Triple Protection Sunscreen SPF 30+ | Review

My Experience With The Product: This sunscreen from Tvakh is in the form of a light-weight lotion that does not leave any white cast or oiliness on the skin. It is quite hydrating and gentle on the skin and can double up as a day cream too. I like the concept of a sunscreen providing defense against pollution and the light from electronic devices as well because these are some of the top causes of skin ageing. While it is hard to determine if the product is actually providing protection against all these environmental factors, Tvakh is a brand that I trust, so I do believe that their claims are true. The visible effects of this sunscreen that I do see on my face are that my skin looks smoother after applying this product and it also adds a slight brightness to my face. I also like the gentle, refreshing action of this lotion, which I think is due to the aloe, cucumber, and papaya extracts present in the formula, along with glycerin.

Tvakh Triple Protection Sunscreen SPF 30+ | ReviewFinal Verdict: Overall, I feel that this sunscreen lotion will be great for those with all skin types but particularly for those with dry to normal skin. If you have sensitive skin then this product will work well for you too. The price point of INR 465 for a 100ml bottle is a decent price for the quality of ingredients used. Also, the bottle comes with a pump which makes this product extremely convenient to use and to travel with. I will definitely be reaching for this product whenever my skin is feeling a little parched and needs a gentle day cream that provides sun protection too. A good choice if you are in the market for a good sunscreen lotion!

Cetaphil Daylong Sunscreen SPF 50 | Review

Guest post by Piyusha from The Peachy Perspective blog

Hey everyone! Today I will be reviewing the Cetaphil Daylong Sunscreen. Cetaphil is a medicated brand which is targeted towards sensitive skin concerns. This brand has been a staple in my skincare routine for about a year and I recently tried out their sunscreen. Read on to know more about how this fared for me!

Cetaphil Daylong Sunscreen SPF 50 | Review

Price: This retails for INR 1499 for 50ml

My take on the product: I got this sunscreen from a drugstore to try it out because of its promising claims: suitable for sensitive skin. I got this for my face as I have really sensitive skin there. This sunscreen comes in a box and has an orange and white tube packaging. The cap is very sturdy which I quite like. The packaging is travel-friendly and quite handy in my opinion.  The product has a smooth texture and an almost liquid consistency with a slight chemical-like scent which goes away within a few minutes of application. It doesn’t feel greasy on the skin and mattifies instantly after application which I like. I’m unsure about the claim of water resistance as I haven’t really tested it, but considering how matte it looks on the skin and how easily it gets absorbed, I’m assuming it should be decently water resistant.

Coming to the price point, I feel that this is a bit overpriced. It would have been good if it was priced at around INR 700. Owing to its high SPF, although it blends with ease on the skin, it leaves a whitish cast which I honestly don’t prefer on my face at least! It works for the skin on the rest of my body quite well when I mix it with a moisturizer to aid in blending and to reduce the whitish tinge, however it didn’t work for my face. It broke me out within 2-3 days of continuous usage which I was disappointed about given that this product has listed claims of being ‘hypoallergenic’ and ‘oil-free’.

The PROs of the product

  • High SPF
  • No strong scent/fragrance
  • Paraben free
  • Liquidy texture that eases in blending
  • Travel friendly packaging

The CONs of the product

  • Broke me out on the face
  • Expensive
  • Doesn’t live up to all its claims
  • Leaves a whitish cast on the skin

In a nutshell, as contradictory as it sounds, I initially didn’t like this sunscreen but I do quite like this sunscreen these days for its texture, consistency, high SPF, and the fact that it’s so lightweight on the skin, although it does have its share of shortcomings. I would recommend this one if you are looking for a paraben-free sunscreen with a high SPF and a light formula. I wouldn’t repurchase this though as it didn’t work for my face.

Loreal Paris UV Perfect Even Complexion SPF 50+ | Review

A good sunscreen is a must for everyone, whether they spend long hours in the sun or not. I have been quite lazy with my sunscreens in the past but this year I had resolved to use them daily and I am happy to report that I have been able to fulfill the resolution to a large extent. The primary reason why some people hate sunscreen is because it is an extra step in their skincare regimen and is often greasy, sticky, or does not sit well on the skin. For this reason, I have been opting for day creams that contain a fairly high SPF as well, and the Loreal Paris UV Perfect Even Complexion is one such product that I have recently added to my skincare stash.

Loreal Paris UV Perfect Even Complexion SPF 50+ | Review

This product is essentially a tinted moisturiser, with a very high SPF of 50+, and claims to provide protection against UV rays for up to 12 hours. I am not sure about the 12-hour claim but I am fairly certain that it is potent enough to protect you from the sun for a good 3-4 hours if you apply it right before heading out, which suits the requirements of most individuals. It is a very light and non-greasy moisturiser that provides mild hydration to the skin and is perfect for those with normal to oily skin. It is also tinted but the pigmentation is not intense at all and it won’t provide you much coverage. However, it does provide a glow to the face and reduces any redness by a small amount.

Loreal Paris UV Perfect Even Complexion SPF 50+ | Review

I like the nozzle dispenser, because it prevents the wastage of the product, and find the packaging pretty compact and cute. However, I do wish that the for the price of INR 550 for a 30ml bottle, this product contained a little more pigment. With the current intensity of the tint, only those with fairly clear skin can wear it on its own while those with pigmented or blemished skin will need to use a foundation or concealer on top if they want to cover up the spots.

After Blending

Overall, if you are on the hunt for a moisturiser with a high SPF then this product will definitely work for you. It also comes in a non-tinted variant in case you do not care for the tint. Even though the product is slightly pricey, the high SPF justifies the cost and I love that it is not heavy or greasy at all. This is the only non-matte sunscreen that blends well into my skin and I therefore recommend all of you to give it a shot.

Iraa Instashield Anti-Photoageing Cream | Review

As a beauty blogger, you sometimes stumble upon products that surprise you. The Iraa Instashield Anti-Photoageing Creams fits right into this category of products. This tinted moisturizer claims to reduce and prevent dark sun spots, which are a sign of photo ageing, while providing an even skin tone and glow to the face instantly. I was definitely intrigued by the claims and the product seemed like something unique, which is why I ordered a sample from Smytten, and I am so glad that I did!

Iraa Instashield Anti-Photoageing Cream | Review

This cream has a peachy tint which provides an extremely sheer coverage on the skin. It does not conceal any imperfections and only reduces the redness to a certain extent, therefore, it is meant for those good skin days or can be worn under a foundation. The star of the show, however, is the glow that it provides. It seems that the folks at Iraa take their glow seriously because, boy, this cream works better than any highlighter I own. If you have super dry skin that has lost its natural radiance then you MUST try out this product for a healthy glow. The shine may be a bit too much for those with oily skin, so I would recommend them to either apply the cream only to the parts they want to highlight or to tone things down with a powder or a matte foundation. When I apply this product on my oily skin, the glow is a bit too much for me, but when I apply some Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation over it then it makes me look radiant and prevents the foundation from clinging to the bumps and stray dry patches on my face.

Also, this cream has a sticky texture, which makes the foundation adhere better to the skin and makes it last longer. It also contains SPF 30, which means that this is a moisturiser, sunscreen, AND primer combined in one! However, the sticky texture may seem a bit heavy and uncomfortable to some, so make sure to use only a teeny bit of the product (this small sachet lasted me for 5-6 uses!). Every time I used this product, I noticed that my skin was softer and seemed more nourished. The texture takes some getting used to though, and if you notice that the cream is making your makeup slide a little, it means that you are using too much of the product. Once you nail the amount to use, I am sure that you will enjoy this cream a lot.

Iraa Instashield Anti-Photoageing Cream | Review

The Iraa Instashield Anti-Photoageing Cream is priced at INR 789 for a 50gm bottle that comes with a pump. You can also get a sample from the Smytten app. In my opinion, this is a must buy for those with super dry skin, but I would recommend those with oily skin to try out a sample first. I for sure will be buying the full sized product soon to help me achieve that celebrity glow without much effort and to keep looking radiant all day long!

Lotus Herbals Safe Sun Intensive Sun Block Spray | Review

One product that is always a skin care essential but becomes even more important during a vacation is sunscreen. While everybody knows the benefits of a good sun block, many are put off by their typical chemically scent, their thick texture, and the white cast they impart to the skin. The Lotus Herbals Safe Sun Intensive Sun Block Spray addresses a majority of these concerns and is a light weight sunscreen that still offers great protection against the sun.

Lotus Herbals Safe Sun Intensive Sun Block Spray Review

With SPF 50, this product is ideal for the days when you are out and about for long hours. Also, the spray packaging makes it handbag friendly, without any fears of leakage. However, the spray itself is not very effective because the product comes out in a squirt instead of a fine mist. Therefore, you have to rub the product into the skin anyway, so the spray does not reduce much effort on that front.

Lotus Herbals Safe Sun Intensive Sun Block Spray Review

Despite the disappointing nozzle, what I like about the product is its thin, milky texture that gets absorbed into the skin within seconds without making it sticky or greasy. The product also does not provide a visible white cast to the skin although if you look very closely then you will notice some whiteness. It is not very great in terms of longevity, perhaps due to its light weight formula, and I feel that you need to reapply it throughout the day. It also claims to be water proof but in reality, some of the product does get washed off by water.

Lotus Herbals Safe Sun Intensive Sun Block Spray Review

Priced at INR 345 for an 80 ml bottle, this sunscreen is one of the more affordable sun block sprays available in India. Although this is not a mist and does need to be massaged into the skin, I enjoy its non-greasy texture and mild floral scent. If only it was more water resistant and long lasting, it would become my favorite, but for now, it does make it to my list of top 5 sunscreens simply because it is not heavy at all. Do try it out if you have oily skin and are in the market for a non-greasy sun block.

The June ZoBag – Your Perfect Companion For A Summer Retreat!

Hi guys! I am here today to add some positivity to a gloomy Monday with the much-awaited review of the June ZoBag. I know that it is already the second week of July but I received this bag towards the end of last month and wanted to thoroughly test the products before writing my verdict. For those of you who are not aware of ZoBag, it is a monthly subscription bag that provides 5 full-sized beauty/skincare products at an extremely affordable price of INR 499. The theme of the June ZoBag is Summer Retreat, and true to its name, it carries 5 skincare products that help reverse the signs of sun damage and offer a glowing, healthy skin in the harsh summer months. So without much ado, here is the detailed overview of the contents of the bag.

Biotique Bio Papaya Tan Removal Scrub ZoBag

1. Biotique Bio Papaya Revitalizing Tan Removal Scrub – The first product that I will talk about today is the Biotique Bio Papaya Tan Removal Scrub. This wonderful scrub has a delicious, fruity fragrance and a thick creamy consistency with rough granules that are perfect for the removal of dead skin. This scrub is on the grittier side of the spectrum and may not be suitable for extremely sensitive skin, however, it works wonders on my skin and leaves it looking much brighter and buttery soft! Regular usage of this product visibly improves the texture of the skin making it more vibrant and smooth. Therefore, this is the perfect scrub for those who prefer a strong exfoliating action.

MCaffeine Sea Fern Sunscreen ZoBag

2. MCaffeine Sea Fern Sunscreen – When it comes to a summer retreat, one product that always comes to mind is a sunscreen, and the MCaffeine Sea Fern Sunscreen is an interesting new sunscreen lotion on the block. It combines the antioxidant properties of caffeine with the soothing touch of calendula and the nourishment of argan oil, to create a sunscreen lotion that can double up as a moisturizer. This product gets soaked into the skin really quickly and leaves behind a fresh scent. It contains SPF 30 which is ideal for daily use in the summer months. The only downside of this sunscreen is that it is not waterproof and needs to be reapplied every 2 hours and it also leaves behind a slight white cast. An honorable mention goes to the pump based packaging with a plastic lock that is extremely handy for preventing leakage while throwing this product into a suitcase.

Votre After Sun Mist ZoBag

3. Votre After Sun Mist – Votre is a skincare brand that I have trusted for a long time and therefore I was overjoyed to receive the Votre After Sun Mist in the June ZoBag. Facial mists are excellent at refreshing sunburnt skin throughout the day and this particular product has an amazing cooling action. It contains the extracts of Honeysuckle, Noni Fruit, Grapeseed, and Amla that moisturize and heal the skin to repair the damage caused by sunlight. The size and packaging of this face mist are perfect for the handbag and this is one product I never step out of the house without these days. One word of caution is that it does spray out quite a large amount of product in one go, so use a gentle hand and spray the product from a distance for even coverage of the face.

Krishkare Skin Repair Gel ZoBag

4. Krishkare Skin Repair Gel –  Everyone is aware of the cooling and hydrating properties of aloe vera, which make it an essential part of a summer skincare routine. The Krishkare Skin Repair Gel combines aloe vera gel with cucumber extracts to create the perfect concoction for summer. This gel has a sweet, herbal scent and needs to massaged on the skin post-cleansing for maximum benefits. You need to apply it in a circular motion to the face and massage it in so that the ingredients get absorbed into the skin, then rinse off the excess to achieve visibly brighter and supple skin. This product comes with antioxidant and antibacterial properties that reduce acne while cooling sun damaged skin. However, it contains parabens in the list of ingredients which may not be preferred by some.

Krishkare Hydrate Sheet Mask ZoBag

5. Krishkare Hydrate Sheet Mask – Last but not the least is a product without which any skincare subscription bag would be incomplete – a sheet mask! The June ZoBag contains the Krishkare Hydrate Sheet Mask which is paraben-free (Yay!) and contains coconut jelly and natural cellulose that help to hydrate the skin while making it more supple. This sheet mask has an instant cooling effect on the skin and also claims to get rid of a tan. I did not have a tan when I used the product so I cannot really vouch for the tan removal properties but this sheet mask definitely relaxed my skin and left it feeling energized and refreshed. The perfect way to pamper yourself after a hectic day in the summer sun!

Believe it or not, the June ZoBag contains products worth INR 1600 and you can make them yours at an extremely affordable price of INR 499! Additionally, the bag in itself has a pretty floral design and enough room to pack in a ton of beauty products! I am thoroughly satisfied with what I received and I genuinely feel that ZoBag is one of the best beauty subscription bags in India at the moment because it provides excellent value for money. Not one product is a dud or a filler product, which is what makes ZoBag stand apart from the rest. I am eagerly looking forward to this month’s bag and ZoBag has definitely found a loyal customer in me!

The Nature’s Co Aloe Vera After Sun Gel | Review

Sun exposure is one of the biggest contributors to skin damage and can cause tanning, dullness, and dryness too. However, venturing out in the sunlight is something very inevitable for most of us and, in fact, it comes with its own set of benefits (Vitamin D). This is why I recently purchased the Nature’s Co Aloe Vera After Sun Gel that offers relief from sunburns and cools down the skin post sun-exposure.

This product is an orange colored gel that smells like apricots and has a slightly sticky texture. It spreads on the skin quite easily and gets absorbed within a few minutes, and the stickiness disappears after 5 minutes or so. It provides a cooling sensation upon application that relieves the skin, and it also prevents tanning to a certain extent. My only complaint is that the product has a very liquidy consistency and therefore things can get a bit messy if you are not careful. Perhaps a jar instead of a tube would have been a more suitable option for the packaging.

Overall, I am quite impressed with the quality of this product because it delivers what it promises and does not make any false claims. The fact that it is made with natural ingredients such as aloe vera gel, peppermint extract, and bearberry extract, adds to its appeal. A 125ml tube of this product is priced at INR 425, which is quite good because I feel that one tube will last me the whole summer. I would highly recommend using this product, in conjunction with a sunscreen, to minimize the damage to your skin this summer.

I hope that you found this review useful. You can buy The Nature’s Co Aloe Vera After Sun Gel here.

VLCC Depigmentation Day Cream Review

As hard as it may sound to moisturize each day, particularly during the hot summer months, it is essential for healthy, glowing skin. What is even more essential is a high enough SPF to protect your face from the summer sun. Lazy me likes to combine both the steps and I always prefer day creams that have an SPF. I recently tried out the VLCC Depigmentation Day Cream and here are my thoughts about it.

This day cream lies somewhere between a creamy and thick consistency. A small amount is sufficient for the whole face and you will need to massage it in to prevent a white cast. Once absorbed by the skin, it leaves the face feeling supple and hydrated the entire day. I am not too sure about its depigmentation qualities but it does brighten the skin with regular usage.

The formula has SPF 25, which is quite high for a day cream and eliminates the need for a sunscreen if you are exposed to direct sunlight only for a few minutes each day. It also contains some great ingredients such as mulberry extract, turmeric, and glycolic acid, which are known to work wonders for troubled skin. The cream has quite a strong, sweet smell that might bother some people but I am pretty fine with it.

A 50 gm tub of this cream is priced at INR 405, which is quite reasonable as this tub lasted me for a really long time. The packaging is also very unique and looks cute stacked up with the other products from the range. Overall, I would say that this is a good cream for those with dry to combination skin, as it might be a little too greasy for oily skin types. It evens out the skin tone quite well without being harsh on the delicate skin of the face. A great day cream for the summer months!

Buy it here.

P.S. – This blog just hit 500 subscribers yesterday. Cheers to all of you for making this happen! Keep the love coming my way <3

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock | Review

The bikini season is almost here, so it is the right time to stock up on sunblock creams. I am very picky about my sunscreen lotions because I find most of them either too heavy or hard to blend or overwhelmingly fragrant. The Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock is a wonderful exception and therefore my holy grail choice.

This product has SPF 50 which is ideal for Indian summers. The formula is light and very blendable and does not have any greasiness. It does have a scent but nothing too offensive. I use this product on my face and arms when I have to spend a day outdoors and it keeps my skin soft and smooth without leaving a white cast. It also claims to be waterproof but I would recommend reapplication after a couple of hours if you go swimming. I am particularly happy with this sunblock because it does not break out my skin, which is quite rare considering my skin type.

Spending INR 199 on a 30ml tube of this product would be a great investment for oily skinned folks like me who are on the lookout for a good sunscreen.
