I never knew that sheet masks could be so addictive until I received a lovely package from Mond’Sub which contained two of their amazing sheet masks for me to review. I have already reviewed the Mond’Sub Anti-Wrinkle and Moisturizing Facial Mask in a previous blog post, so today I will be talking about the Mond’Sub Gold Facial Mask from their Crystal Collagen Mask Series.
This facial mask differs from the usual sheet masks because instead of being a thin sheet, it is a thicker, jelly-like sheet of gold. It comes drenched in a mildly scented serum that claims to rehydrate and brighten the skin and also to accelerate the cell renewal process. Other benefits of the mask as stated by the brand include tightening and lifting of the skin along with the reduction of wrinkles. Although the packaging states that first time users should use these masks on three consecutive days for best results, I had just one with me so decided to make do with it. As soon as I placed it on my skin, my face felt relaxed and the serum provided some cooling action as well. I left the mask on for around 30 minutes and when I removed it, my skin looked visibly brighter! The mask also lived up to its claims of tightening the skin and it felt more supple and youthful to touch.
If I could change just one thing about this product, I would make the eyeholes a little bit bigger but I do not have any other cons to state about this facial mask. I will definitely be purchasing some more in the future to reap the full benefits of the product. I am extremely grateful to Mond’Sub for sending me this lovely mask to review and for introducing me to the wonderful world of sheet masks!
Sheet masks have taken the world of skincare by a storm and I must admit that I am late to the party. I have been meaning to try these out since a long time but somehow never got around to it. Imagine my sheer joy when Mond’Sub kindly sent me two of their much-loved sheet masks to review. Even before I knew it, I was ripping open the packaging of the Mond’Sub Anti-Wrinkle & Moisturizing Facial Mask from their Collagen Silk Mask Series. Here are my views on this lovely product that transformed my skin within a few minutes.
This mask is primarily meant for mature or prematurely aging skin and promises to fight wrinkles while moisturizing and brightening the skin. Although I do not have wrinkles yet, my skin was feeling a bit tired and dry the day I tried out this sheet mask. As soon as I opened up the packaging, a clear serum oozed out, this is the nourishing fluid which the mask is soaked in. Be a little careful while removing the mask from the packaging to prevent the liquid from leaking. Once the mask is out, just peel off the transparent film and place it on your face with the blue side on the top. Now peel off the blue layer and let the mask sit on your face for around 15 minutes. The packaging contains the list of ingredients and instructions for use on the back so all the information that you need has been provided by the brand.
As soon as I placed the sheet mask on my skin, I felt a cooling sensation spread throughout the surface of my face. I believe that this cooling property helps to reduce irritation and redness and calms down the skin. Once the mask is in place, you just need to sit back and relax for some time. The mask adhered well to the skin, although it was slightly big for my face. Once I managed to get the eye holes in the right place, it was quite comfortable to wear and I could go about my work while it pampered my skin.
At the risk of looking completely ridiculous, here is a picture of me with the mask on. Now that you have had a good laugh (:P), it is time for my final verdict on the product. Once I removed the mask, there was some residual serum left on my skin which I massaged in and then rinsed my face with water. I could immediately notice that my skin was firmer and more supple than before, which means that this sheet mask will definitely be great at reducing wrinkles. It provides the right amount of hydration without making the skin oily and is pretty gentle on the skin too. Priced at INR 200, the Mond’Sub Anti-Wrinkle & Moisturizing Facial Mask is the perfect quick boost for dull, tired, and aging skin. It is available at a discounted rate on various online stores, and you can purchase it from Nykaa at INR 129 only.
If you wish to explore the world of sheet masks then Mond’Sub has an excellent range and I will soon be reviewing their Gold Facial Mask as well. Meanwhile, you can catch the latest updates from the brand on their Instagram page – @mondsubindia
I hope that you enjoy this sheet mask as much as I did, stay tuned for more reviews!
Summer is the time to experiment with fun colors and a pastel nail paint is the best way to add some brightness to your look. I love all the shades from the Nykaa Pastel Nail Enamel range that I have tried till date and the shade 23 – Bubble Yum is no exception. I received this delicate pink nail paint as a birthday gift from Nykaa but tried it out for the first time this month. I thought that you guys might be interested in the review and swatches of this product, so here you go!
I was a little afraid that this color would end up looking too neon and tacky on my nails but was pleased to find out that it is neither of those things. It is in fact, a bright, light pink with generous white undertones. It appears milkier in certain lights than others and sometimes lives up to its name and shows up as a bubblegum pink. It is definitely more of a playful color than a sophisticated one but I like it. I think that this shade is perfect for nail art too!
You do not need more than two coats of this product and even one coat is pretty opaque. Texturewise, it is creamy with a slight shine but I have noticed that if I am not too careful while applying it, I end up with a bubbly surface instead of a smooth one. These nail paints are not very chip resistant and tend to start chipping within 3-4 days. The colors, however, are so stunning that I always end up buying more shades.
The Nykaa Pastel Nail Enamels are priced at INR 179, I know that I am repeating myself but the unique colors of this range make them worth the money. I would highly recommend the shade Bubble Yum if you like the girly, Barbie doll nails. If you prefer more muted colors then check out the other shades from the range, they have some great neutrals too!
When a foundation claims to last for 25 hours and numerous beauty bloggers swear by it, you have to try it out, right? The fact that the said foundation is created by one of my favorite drugstore brands, Rimmel, was another factor that encouraged me to buy this tube that comes with the promise of flawless skin. So, did the Rimmel 25 Hour Lasting Finish Foundation live up to my expectations? Read on to find out!
I purchased this foundation online, which means that selecting the shade was quite a task. My basic strategy is to go for a darker than medium shade, especially if it is a foundation by an international brand. The shade I went for was 301 Warm Honey, which is a peach toned beige that matches the shade of my skin quite perfectly. Unfortunately though, the foundation tends to turn lighter on my skin with time and gives the appearance of a white cast within a few hours. This was quite a bummer for me because I really loved the texture and coverage of the foundation, perhaps I need to try another shade from the range to form a more solid opinion on the “whitening” phenomenon.
Texturewise, the foundation is quite impressive, it has a liquid consistency but still manages to provide almost full coverage on the skin! This is the reason that I love this foundation so much, it covers all blemishes and gives the appearance of perfect skin without looking cakey. I haven’t really tested the 25-hour claim but I can confirm that it does stay put on the skin for 12 hours without getting shiny or patchy. I would say that the finish is a natural matte that should work with most skin types.
The foundation comes in a 30ml tube, which is priced at INR 600 in India. I was afraid at first that the tube will make the product go everywhere but it is not as messy as I had feared. In fact, it does dispense the right amount of product with a gentle squeeze. To be honest, INR 600 is a price that I would happily pay for a full coverage, long lasting foundation like this one. If only the white cast issue had not existed, this would have been the perfect foundation for me! I encourage all of you to try out this product but do go to a store and swatch the shades to make sure that the foundation does not change color on your skin. If you find the right shade in this range, you will never reach for another foundation!
I hope that this review was helpful, you can buy the Rimmel 25 Hour Lasting Finish Foundation in the shade 301 Warm Honey here.
You may or may not like makeup but everyone needs a little bit of skincare, and the more natural your skincare products are, the better. This is why I was extremely thrilled to receive two amazing face washes from Aaranyaa, a brand that relies on natural ingredients to bring out the radiance of the skin. Aaranyaa sent me their anti bacterial Neem Tulsi Face Wash, as well as their Tea Tree Face Wash, and I couldn’t be more grateful. I have been carefully testing out these products from the past few days and here are my thoughts on both of them.
Aaranyaa Neem Tulsi Face Wash – This face wash comes in a bright green packaging and is meant for combination to oily skin. It contains the goodness of Neem and Tulsi, which are known to have powerful anti bacterial properties and are excellent at combatting acne. The product comes in the form of a clear green gel and has a herbal smell. It lathers quite easily and cleanses the skin very effectively. It leaves my face feeling fresh and squeaky clean, without a stretchy feeling that some face washes tend to cause. I have noticed that this product keeps the oil under check for at least 4-5 hours and I believe that with regular usage, it might completely eliminate excessive oil production. This face wash is an excellent option for those with regular hormonal breakouts because it is not overly drying yet removes the greasiness very effectively.
Aaranyaa Tea Tree Face Wash – The Tea Tree Face Wash is meant for normal to dry skin and contains tea tree oil, which is an all in one cure for most skin issues. This face wash is gentler on the skin than the Neem Tulsi one and it leaves the skin more hydrated. I am thoroughly impressed that Aaranya has created a face wash with tea tree oil which is suitable for dry skin because most tea tree oil ranges that I have encountered are meant for oily skin. I usually have oily skin but sometimes I suffer from dry patches and this face wash is perfect for those days. In fact, I even asked a few friends with dry skin to try this out and they loved it! The antibacterial properties of tea tree oil in a moisturizing face wash is something new for me and I am enjoying it a lot. As an added bonus, this face wash has a citrusy scent and a cool green packaging which I absolutely adore!
These face washes are priced at INR 195 for a 110 ml tube and are perfect for daily use because they are Sulphate Free. I am so glad that I got an opportunity to try out this new brand and I will definitely be purchasing more products from their collection. If you enjoy herbal skincare then these face washes will surely impress you, and with two different face washes for different skin types, there is something for everyone. I honestly do not have anything negative to say about these face washes and I am in skincare heaven right now! 🙂
You can buy these wonderful products at Aaranyaa’s website. I am sure you will love them as much as I do.
If you are a fan of the old school tubes of lip treatments then you will definitely love the Anatomicals Stop Cracking Up Lip Balm. This product stands out among the tubs and sticks due to its unique packaging. In the age of creamy, solid balms, this product brings a refreshing change with its glossy, almost oily texture. In fact, I would say that it is an affordable alternative to the luxurious lip oils that have made an entry into the makeup world.
Just like all the other products from Anatomicals, this one comes in a vibrant and quirky packaging that is bound to liven up your vanity. Texturewise, it is like an oily lip gloss, but in a good way. As it is a liquid and not a traditional balm, you will need to reapply it every 2-3 hours to keep your lips moisturized. It is not very intensely moisturizing or thick, instead, it leaves your lips lightly hydrated and glossy. As an added bonus, it smells like coconuts, a perfect scent for summer!
Priced at INR 399 for a 15ml tube, I think this lip balm is a good investment for those who do not like the feel of thick balms on their lips. It doubles up as a clear lip gloss and provides a juicy look to the lips. If you are a lip balm junkie, this product will definitely add some variation to your collection!
I know that the Lakme Eyeconic Kajal has been around for a long time, however, I never tried the shade, Deep Black, because I felt that there were more affordable drugstore options for a simple black kajal. Lakme recently dropped the price of this product to INR 180, and I thought that it was finally time to give this one a shot. This is going to be a thorough review because I have already finished up one pencil and am on my second one at the moment!
This Kajal pencil is a retractable one, which is perfect for a lazy girl like me who tends to lose all her sharpeners! The formula is super creamy and the shade is jet black, I feel that it is creamier and blacker than the different variants of the Maybelline Colossal Kajal. The only downside of the tip being so soft is that it tends to break if you apply too much pressure, so be gentle while using this pencil.
In terms of longevity, it lasts for about 4-5 hours, after which it fades around the corners of the eyes. The color stays put on the rest of my waterline for a good 8 hours. This is neither smudge-proof nor waterproof, however, the formula is extremely gentle and better suited for sensitive eyes than most smudge-proof kajals. My eyes tend to get irritated very quickly but they don’t react at all to this kajal because it does not tug at the waterline while application and does not contain any ingredients that may sting the eyes.
As I mentioned before, this eye pencil is available for INR 180 as of now and I really hope that Lakme does not increase the price again. I would go ahead and state that this is the best affordable kajal in the market, in my opinion. If you are stepping out of the house only for a few hours and do not really need something that is budge proof, the Lakme Eyeconic Kajal might be the perfect product for you!
This could be a controversial one. I know that the world is switching to aluminum-free, natural deodorants and that aerosol cans are damaging to the environment. However, most of my readers are based in India, where the eco-friendly deodorants are still hard to find and are also quite expensive. Personally, I hardly ever use deodorants and usually, a body mist works just fine for me. There are of course those days when I have to be out and about in the sun and I do not want to subject the world to body odor. The Nike Women Basic Yellow Deodorant is my go to product for such occasions.
If you are like me and hate the pungent undertones that most deodorants have, you will love this product. It smells just like a perfume and you can’t even tell that it is a deodorant. In fact, you do not even need to wear a perfume on the days that you use this deodorant. The scent is a sweet, candy fragrance with some warmth to it. It is not girly but it is definitely feminine. If strong, floral or musky scents make you sick then you will find this fragrance much more pleasing.
The scent lasts all day long and I feel that it even keeps the sweat at bay. A 200ml can of this product is priced at INR 250 and is available at most drugstores and online too. If you can find a natural deodorant where you live or can make one at home then that is great, but if you are stuck in a situation where you have to purchase a conventional deodorant then I would highly recommend this one.
Hair serum is a product that is an essential component of most people’s beauty routine. However, as of late, I have observed that the prices of hair serums have been steadily increasing. If you are looking for an affordable hair serum for regular usage, something that gets the job done without leaving you broke, then you have come to the right place!
The Streax Pro Vita Gloss Hair Serum is my recommendation to those who wish to add some smoothness to their hair after washing. It does not work miracles, but definitely reduces frizziness and adds a pleasant smell to the hair. It works pretty well with mildly tangled hair but may not be able to remove stubborn knots. I primarily use it for adding nourishment to the ends of my hair.
The formula has a thin consistency, almost like water, which means that the product spreads evenly on the hair, offering a slight glossiness to the ends. The best thing about the packaging is that it has a pump, which prevents wastage of product and makes sure that you use just the right amount. A little goes a long way with this serum so I would advise using half a pump if you have thin hair and one pump in case you have voluminous hair.
A 100ml bottle of this serum is priced at INR 185 but can be purchased for INR 150 from online stores. This is an extremely affordable product that works as well as some of the fancier hair serums. Furthermore, one bottle lasts for a very long time, which makes this hair serum even more pocket-friendly. It feels so good to find a product that offers great performance at a drugstore price!
I am a huge fan of the Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment but it is so expensive that I am constantly on the lookout for an affordable alternative. Bear in mind that I have super sensitive eyes that tend to start stinging very easily. So when I decided to try out the Biotique Bio Almond Soothing and Nourishing Eye Cream, I did not have very high expectations but was praying for a miracle nevertheless.
This eye cream claims to be an all in one product that works on puffiness, dark circles, wrinkles, and what not. The formula is enriched with some natural ingredients such as almond oil and sunflower oil. The product comes in the form of a thick cream that melts upon application and releases a nourishing oil on the skin.
This eye cream is quite hydrating and provides some much-needed relief to tired eyes. However, there is one major issue with the product, apply it anywhere close to your eyes and they will burn! That is a bit ironic because it is an eye cream, how can you not apply it near your eyes. Although the moisturizing power of this eye cream is pretty intense, the stinging action makes it a big no-no for me. I feel that the nourishment gets negated by the fact that my eyes tear up and turn red if even a tiny bit of the product goes near the waterline.
This eye cream might work for you if you have super strong eyes that do not react to products or if you can apply it extremely cautiously. It does reduce dryness and puffiness but I haven’t been able to use it enough to comment on its effectiveness against dark circles. A 15 gm jar of this product is priced at INR 199 but is available at INR 150 on online stores. You can give this a shot if you do not have terribly sensitive eyes like me. I wonder when I will find a drugstore eye cream that works for sensitive eyes 🙁
A few years ago, I moved to a new city where the water supply primarily comprised of hard water. This did not work well at all for my hair and I had to deal with the most brittle hair that I had ever experienced. The chemicals in the water made my hair so weak that each time I brushed my fingers through it, a bunch of strands would end up in my hand. Trust me, it wasn’t a pretty sight at all. I consulted a hair stylist about my grave situation and he suggested that I try the Loreal Professionnel Expert Serie Force Vector Mask. This amazing product single-handedly rescued my hair within a month and the hair fall reduced drastically and became almost negligible!
Thanks to this blog, I can spread the word about this excellent hair mask that strengthens each fiber of the hair, thereby reducing the breakage caused due to brittleness. This mask has a creamy, thick consistency and spreads easily on the hair. It also has a sweet, almost cinnamony scent that I love. I use this product 1-2 times a week on the lower ends of my hair, after conditioning them. I leave it on for around 10 minutes and when I rinse my hair they feel nourished and soft. This hair mask contains avocado oil and royal jelly that provide nutrition to rough, chemically treated hair. It also uses a Glycocell technology to strengthen the hair fibers. As unbelievable as it may sound, the hair does feel stronger after just a couple of uses! Furthermore, this mask also makes the hair more resilient to heat styling, which is good if you blow dry or straighten your hair on a regular basis.
I would highly recommend this product to those with brittle hair caused by chemical treatments, heat styling, or hormonal issues. It is the only product I have ever used that has helped with hair fall due to breakage. Priced at INR 675 for a 196 gm tub, this product is quite affordable considering its efficacy and benefits. If you have been noticing an alarming number of hair strands on your pillow and your hair brush then this hair mask might be the perfect fit for you!
As the heat intensifies, makeup takes a back seat because the skin begs to breathe! As dramatic as it may sound, many people suffer from the worst skin during the summer months. Any form of instant relief is highly appreciated during the days of terrible breakouts and redness that accompany the warm weather. The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion is one such instant remedy that calms down my skin.
I use this lotion as a day cream whenever I suffer from hormonal breakouts. It immediately mattifies my skin and the tea tree oil helps in reducing the redness and irritation. It also prevents further acne and shrinks any swellings that are early signs of gigantic pimples.
The formula is very light and almost like a gel. A tiny drop is sufficient for the face and the neck and it keeps the oil at bay for a few hours. I have also noticed that makeup applies really well on top of this lotion. In fact, I often skip primer when I use this product. As far as I know, this lotion does not contain any SPF, so you will need an additional step of applying sunscreen before you step out of the house.
Priced at INR 995 for a 50 ml tube, this product is on the pricier side but it works as a great moisturizer for the days when your skin is too oily and temperamental. I would highly recommend this product to those with extremely greasy and acne-prone skin, the antibacterial action of this mattifying lotion will work wonders for you!
