Kanai Organics – Plant Based Beauty | Review

Clean skincare is something that always attracts me, and when the brand sources ingredients from the wonderful ecosystems of the country and gives back to the remotest regions of India, I am definitely going to talk about it. This fascinating brand is Kanai Organics, a plant-based beauty brand that has recently released an Avocado Oil Moisturiser and an Aloe Vera Manjishtha Face Wash. Before talking about these products in detail, here is a brief introduction about the brand:

“Kanai’s emphasis is on making nature the star of the product. Using ingredients like Apricot, Turmeric, Aloe Vera, Reetha, Manjistha, Sesame, Avocado, Nutmeg, we build products that promise to enhance and beautify naturally. Our promise to the customer is that at least 95% of the ingredients used will be natural and ethically sourced by using fair trade practices.

Our idea of beauty doesn’t just limit itself to the body but also to the heart. And what better way to prove it than to be kind and give back to those that deserve it the most? Kanai remains committed to never testing on animals and giving away proceeds from the sale of each product to the Rural Development Institute which works to address the needs of women, children and adolescents in some of the remotest parts of the Himalayas.”

Kanai Organics - Plant Based Beauty | Review

I love the honesty of the brand where they claim to be at least 95% natural, whereas many brands resort to marketing gimmicks where they claim that they are 100% natural but the ingredient list states otherwise. This brand is inspired by Indian ingredients and is making sure that the growers of these ingredients continue to have a livelihood. This really impressed me even before I started using the products, but without much ado, here are my thoughts on their face wash and moisturiser.

Kanai Organics - Plant Based Beauty | Review

My skin loves anything with Avocado oil in it and the Kanai Avocado Oil Moisturiser is no exception. It contains a lot of ingredients that are great for the skin, such as sesame oil, liquorice & neem extracts, and of course, avocado oil and is rich in Vitamins A, C, D, E, and K. I also love the fact that it has a natural SPF 15 in it, which is great for when you are stepping out for a short while. This moisturiser is extremely light-weight and sinks into the skin beautifully, without leaving any white cast. It has a mild pleasant scent and an extremely soothing effect on the skin. This moisturiser can be used on the body as well as the face, but I have been using it only on my body and I must say, my skin feels way softer and smoother than before. Priced at INR 600 for a 100ml tube, I feel that the price of the product is justified considering the great ingredients and the fact that some of the proceeds from every purchase go towards supporting the rural communities of the Himalayan region.

The Kanai Aloe Vera Manjishtha Face Wash is very unique because it is free of chemical soap, and contains natural Reetha extracts instead. Because of this, the face wash is extremely gentle and does not lather much, but cleanses the skin really well. The Manjishtha extracts brighten the skin while the aloe vera hydrates it. My skin feels baby soft after each wash and has not broken out since I started using the product. In fact, my existing acne has also reduced significantly because of this face wash. This product is perfect for those with extremely dry or sensitive skin, and those with oily skin can use it as a second step of a double cleanse routine. Priced at INR 550 for a 100ml tube, this face wash is a must buy for all those whose skin is extremely sensitive to chemicals.

As you can probably tell, I am already a huge fan of the brand and can’t wait for them to come up with more products. Meanwhile, why don’t you try these two products and let me know what you think about them?

Greenberry Organics Bio Active Intense Night Cream | First Impressions Style Review

In continuation to yesterday’s post, today I will talk about the Greenberry Organics Bio Active Intense Night Cream, the evening counterpart of the Bio Active Bright Day Cream. This night cream was also sent by the brand to me and I found the ingredient list very intriguing. It has Jojoba Oil to soothe dry and irritated skin, mulberry extracts that act as anti-oxidants, almond oil to help clear the skin, and organic murumuru butter that is rich in essential fatty acids. Needless to say, this cream sounds like a super-food for the skin and indeed, it is exactly that.

Greenberry Organics Bio Active Intense Night Cream | First Impressions Style Review

This night cream is even thicker and richer than the day cream from the range and has an extremely soothing floral scent that helps me fall asleep at night. You need to use the tiniest bit of the product on the face, otherwise, you will be left with a crumbly or streaky finish. Just take a small amount of product, rub it between your fingers to warm it up, and then dot over the face and massage in with a circular motion. This cream is almost like a body butter, but for the face, so you have to be careful not to use too much product, but personally, I love the rich and intense hydration that it provides to my face. With the smallest scoop of product, I am able to see the cream sink into my face within minutes, making the skin super soft and smooth. Even when I wake up in the morning, my skin looks radiant and healthy. On the days when I get inadequate sleep, I usually suffer from dull skin but this night cream prevents that as well. I also feel that just within a week of use, the cream has slightly lightened the spots on my face, which is quite amazing.

Greenberry Organics Bio Active Intense Night Cream | First Impressions Style Review

Overall, I am happy with the product because it lives up to its name of being “Intense” in the hydration department. Even though I have combination to oily skin, my face does not feel greasy after applying this product, making it the perfect winter night cream for me. I also love the fact that the product is so gentle on my face and does not cause any tingling or itching at all. I will highly recommend this product for those with flaky or irritated skin who are in immediate need of hardcore moisturization. Priced at INR 675 for a 50gm tub, this cream may seem expensive but it will last you a really long time if you use the right amount of product. Also, it is currently available on Amazon for INR 600 only, so do grab yours now to pamper your face with some TLC.

Plum Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Light Stay Day Cream and Nurturance Night Cream | Review

Sometimes, I buy skincare products on a whim and the Plum Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Light Stay Day Cream was such an impulsive buy. Even though this day cream is best suited for dry skin, I bought it regardless of the fact that my skin is oily to combination, thinking that it will be a nice treat for the winter days ahead. Luckily, this cream suited my skin like a dream, so much so that I immediately placed an order for the Nurturance Night Cream from the same range as well. Usually, I’m not too matchy-matchy about my day and night skincare routine but using these two products in conjunction has worked quite well for my skin and here is how.

Plum Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Light Stay Day Cream and Nurturance Night Cream Review

Plum Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Light Stay Day Cream and Nurturance Night Cream Review

The day cream has a thick consistency, as opposed to the lotions from Plum, and is also pretty creamy. It spreads fairly easily on the skin though and you only need a few dots of the product to cover the entire face. It has a slight oiliness to it, but not in a bad way – more like the lightweight oiliness of serums. Also, this does not create a thick film on the face and gets absorbed fairly quickly, leaving the skin hydrated and glowing but not greasy. I love the fact that this cream has SPF 30, which I need at the moment because I am starting to incorporate Vitamin C in my skincare regimen. Overall, this cream is the perfect product for the cold season ahead when you need to give a little extra nourishment to your parched skin. It seems like the product replenishes the natural oils of the face without causing excessive oiliness and the cream should suit all skin types except extremely oily skin.

Plum Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Light Stay Day Cream and Nurturance Night Cream Review

Plum Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Light Stay Day Cream and Nurturance Night Cream Review

The night cream from the range is also extremely nourishing without being heavy on the skin and sinks into the face beautifully. Along with many natural oils, the product also contains sea buckthorn extracts which are supposed to be an excellent source of Omega 7 fatty acids which repair the skin, while the grape seed oil acts as a powerful anti-oxidant. The only thing I don’t like about this night cream is the bulky glass jar which is not travel-friendly at all. I wish that this product had a more compact packaging like the convenient tube of the day cream. The day cream and the night cream can be purchased as a combo pack for INR 1000 (current discounted price is INR 815), which seems pretty affordable to me for the quality of the products.

All the Plum products are paraben-free, phthalate-free and SLS-free and are also extremely gentle on the skin. I love these mild yet effective skincare products that have a faint fragrance that uplifts my mood in the morning and at night. So if you are someone who is planning to pamper your skin a little bit extra during the winter months then do give this range a shot.

Greenberry Organics Bio Active D-Tan Exfoliating Scrub | Review

Ever since I spoke about the Greenberry Organics Bio Active D-Tan Exfoliating Scrub on my Insta stories, a bunch of you have asked me for a review of the product. So here I am with a detailed review of this wonderful scrub from Greenberry Organics.

Greenberry Organics Bio Active D-Tan Exfoliating Scrub | Review

Personally, I am not a fan of scrubs that have super soft or tiny exfoliating particles which hardly remove any dead skin from the face. This scrub, on the other hand, has small but gritty particles that are very effective at exfoliating the skin. These particles come embedded in a cream that allows smooth and gentle application on the skin while the grittiness helps to get rid of everything from dead skin to stubborn white heads.

Greenberry Organics Bio Active D-Tan Exfoliating Scrub | Review

You can control the strength of exfoliation with the amount of pressure you apply with your fingers. When used gently, this product can even work for sensitive skin but if used with a heavy hand it can be pretty intense. This allows you to alter the strength of the product as per your skin type.

Greenberry Organics Bio Active D-Tan Exfoliating Scrub | Review

I do not have a tan at the moment so cannot really show you the effects of the scrub on a tan but basically, tan removal is all about removing the sunburnt layer of the skin, so a powerful scrub like this one will definitely provide you great results. Even though my skin is not tanned at the moment, it looks more radiant after using the product, so it will certainly work well on a severe tan.

Greenberry Organics Bio Active D-Tan Exfoliating Scrub | Review

I love that this is an all natural product that contains Bio Active ingredients that are known to nourish, exfoliate, and brighten the skin naturally. Some of these ingredients include nourishing extracts of aloe vera and coconut oil, walnut shell powder for exfoliation, and raspberry extracts for brightening the skin. I also love the soothing scent of cloves that this scrub emanates. If you are a fan of gritty physical scrubs but do not want something too harsh with chemicals in it then the Greenberry Organics Bio Active D-Tan Exfoliating Scrub is a must buy for you. The scrub is priced at INR 575 for a 100gm tub but you can buy it on Amazon at the moment for INR 475 only. This is a great deal in my opinion because a little goes a really long way with this fantastic scrub! I am sure that the next time I return from a vacation with a nasty tan, this scrub will drive all my woes away 🙂

Tvakh Antioxidant Age Defying Day Complex| Review

Skincare is very important for women of all age, starting from teenagers, but the most critical time to pay attention to your skin is between the ages of 25-30, to beat those wrinkles and age spots to oblivion even before they begin to appear! This is why I have recently become more interested in anti-aging ingredients and products and the Tvakh Antioxidant Age Defying Day Complex is the latest addition to my arsenal.

Tvakh Antioxidant Age Defying Day Complex| Review

This day cream contains Omega 3 Fatty Acids that protect the skin from photo-aging caused by exposure to sunlight. It also contains powerful anti oxidants such as white mulberry, beta carotene, and wheat germ along with Vitamin C and Vitamin E to reduce pore size, eliminate fine lines and improve the overall texture of the skin.

Personally, I found the texture of this day cream to be very unique. It looks thick and creamy in the jar, which had me a little worried because I have oily skin, but upon application, it literally glided on my skin and was absorbed within seconds. It leaves the skin super hydrated but non-greasy, and is suitable for all skin types, although people with extremely oily skin may find it a tad bit heavy. However, I am someone with fairly oily skin but did not find the formula oily or sticky. The product leaves the skin feeling smoother, softer, and tighter from the very first use, and this tightening action is what one needs to reduce pore size and eliminate wrinkles. Although this cream looks slightly beige in the packaging, it goes on completely sheer on the skin, and call me crazy but I actually feel that it smells like sweet milk 😛 I quite enjoy the scent because it makes me feel like I have treated my skin with something luxurious.

Tvakh Antioxidant Age Defying Day Complex| Review

Overall, I am extremely pleased with the performance of this product and do not have anything negative to say about it. I have been using it on and off for some time now and have noticed that my skin has become slightly smoother and brighter. I am sure that with daily use, the results will be even more noticeable. Priced at INR 625 for a 100gm jar, I feel that this product is quite affordable for what it does to the skin. It is also free of parabens and phthalates and is not tested on animals. This product has definitely left me impressed and has piqued my interest in more products from Tvakh. I will surely be trying out more skincare from the brand and will be reporting back to you about each product. In the mean time, if you want something to battle the aging caused by environmental factors and, well, your age, then this product is something you must try.

Kronokare Provencal Lavender All Is Well Shower Gel | Review

Even though soap bars have made a major comeback in India, thanks to the beautiful handmade soaps that have hit the shelves, I am still a loyal lover of shower gels. Somehow the sight of a wet bar of soap with that one rookie strand of hair clinging to it always turns me off, and I have super long hair that break easily, so this scene is pretty unavoidable in my bathroom 🙁 Also, shower gels are easy to travel with and are a more hygienic option when shared, so basically, I have a significant stash of shower gels in my cupboard. Today I will talk about the latest edition to my shower gel family, the Kronokare Provencal Lavender All Is Well Shower Gel.

Kronokare Provencal Lavender All Is Well Shower Gel | Review

This shower gel is free of sulfates, parabens, silicones, and mineral oil. It contains lavender and thyme extracts, glycerin, and seed oils that soothe and repair the skin while cleansing it. This product is particularly designed for irritated skin and is super gentle on the body. It initially smells like an old school, strong smelling shampoo, but after rinsing it leaves behind the mild and pleasant scent of lavender on the skin. It lathers pretty well and cleanses the skin without leaving it dry, in fact, my skin feels slightly softer after using this shower gel. It is therefore perfect for the days when you are suffering from extremely dry skin or have rashes from waxing or shaving.

Kronokare Provencal Lavender All Is Well Shower Gel | Review

Priced at INR 200 for 55ml, this shower gel is fairly expensive, but it is perfect for those whose skin reacts badly to drugstore shower gels. Other than the high price, I do not have anything negative to say about this product. The packaging with the flip cap is pretty sturdy and travel-friendly too. The 30ml bottle that I have was a sample purchased from Smytten (I got 2 other samples and this bottle for INR 89 only, which is a very good deal!), so you can check it out on the Smytten app, or can purchase it from the Kronokare website directly. If you are a fan of lavender then I am sure that you will love this product!

Soultree Viola & Kokum Butter Lip Balm | Review

Unlike most people, I am extremely picky about my lip balms. Anything that needs to be reapplied twenty times a day or clings to the dry patches does not make the cut for me. This obsession for lip balms started during my college years when I first discovered the joys (read sorrows) of pigmented and chapped lips. My lips still act up occasionally when I become a little lazy about scrubbing or moisturizing them, which is when I need a good sheer lip balm to come to my rescue. The Soultree Viola & Kokum Butter Lip Balm is what is currently nourishing my lips and I am absolutely loving it!

Soultree Viola & Kokum Butter Lip Balm | Review

This lovely lip balm looks mauvish pink in the tube but does not impart any color to the lips. However, it is top notch in the hydration department and leaves my lips feeling moisturized for hours, without any greasiness or stickiness. When freshly applied, it smells like the coconut toffees that every kid in India consumed during the 90’s but the scent disappears soon and it does not have any discernible taste either. The formula contains Ghee, which is known to lighten pigmented lips while hydrating them, as well as a blend of seven organic oils and Kokum Butter. It is also free of parabens, sulfates, lead, and petroleum, and is a vegetarian product.

Soultree Viola & Kokum Butter Lip Balm | Review

I love the softness that this lip balm imparts to my lips as well as the longevity of the product (I only apply it twice a day). The violet and brown packaging has also stolen my heart, although the cap does not click shut, which means that the cap may come off if not stored carefully and the lip balm may collect dust and grime. Other than this flaw in the packaging, I absolutely adore this product and feel that the price tag of INR 295 for 3.5 gms of lip balm is completely justified. This is definitely going to be my autumn-winter staple and if you are a lip balm snob just like me then you should also get your hands on this product asap!

Seer Secrets Benzoin and Gudalur Vanilla Bath & Shower Oil |Review

It is so cool that all the bath products that I used to watch YouTubers from other countries rave about are now available in India. From bath bombs to bath salts, Indian brands are upping the game and are bringing unique products to our bath tubs and I am one happy girl! The Benzoin and Gudalur Vanilla Bath & Shower Oil from Seer Secrets is one such product that is bringing a luxurious feel to my baths these days.

Seer Secrets Benzoin and Gudalur Vanilla Bath & Shower Oil |Review

This product is an all natural shower oil that has the amazing scent of vanilla and is free of all the harmful substances such as parabens, sulfates, and mineral oil. All you need to do is slather this all over your wet skin in the shower or bath and rub it into your skin until you see the oil turn slightly milky. Then rinse it off and you are left with super soft and glowing skin that does not need any body lotion afterwards. Although it is not a very powerful cleanser, it scores full marks in the hydration department, and if you like a stronger body wash then you can use this oil as the second step in the shower. Since this oil is used in the shower, it does not leave the skin sticky or greasy like most body oils do and this is the reason that I enjoy using this product so much.

Seer Secrets Benzoin and Gudalur Vanilla Bath & Shower Oil |Review

Priced at INR 549 for a 100 ml bottle, this shower oil is a little expensive but the performance and the ingredients justify the cost. Plus, it eliminates the need for a body lotion and only a few drops are sufficient for hydrating the entire body, so I feel that it is not as expensive as it may seem. I feel that this product is perfect for the winters, especially if you live in an area where the cold is not extremely harsh but you still need some extra hydration for your skin. I will definitely be stocking up on this shower oil for the colder months ahead and recommend all of you to do the same 🙂

Bio Bloom Hair Cleanser – Nourishing | Review

Hair products are some of the trickiest things to review, what works really well for one person may end up ruining another’s hair. So I would request you all to take this review with a grain of salt, but if you have hair similar to mine, chances are that you will be disappointed by the Nourishing Hair Cleanser from Bio Bloom. I have long and fine hair that is quite dry at the ends with oily roots, and this hair cleanser worked no magic on my mane.

Bio Bloom Hair Cleanser - Nourishing | Review

This product is paraben free and sulfate free and contains the extracts of Amla, Brahmi, and Hibiscus, some of the traditional super foods for hair. Despite a promising ingredient list, the hair cleanser failed to impress me because it did not do a good job at thoroughly cleaning my hair and scalp. It has a thick, gel-like consistency that doesn’t lather well at all. I got absolutely no lather during the first round of washing and had to go in with a second round to get the lather I am used to. Post rinsing and drying my hair, I could still notice significant oiliness at my roots which usually does not appear until the 2nd or 3rd day after shampooing. I am someone who shampoos their hair no more than twice a week and therefore need a more heavy duty cleanser.

Bio Bloom Hair Cleanser - Nourishing | Review

This product claims to nourish and strengthen the hair to prevent breakage. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to use this long enough to see if it helps with breakage but it did leave my hair feeling silkier and looking more lustrous than usual. Therefore, it does live up to its claim of being nourishing but I wish that the cleansing action had been stronger too. To be honest, the silkiness and shine can be achieved with the help of a more affordable brand like Sunsilk while this one costs INR 350 for a 100ml bottle that comes with a pump (unlike the circular opening in the sample size shown above). Luckily, I had ordered a sample from Smytten so I didn’t waste a lot of money and I won’t be buying the full sized product for sure. If you like a very mild hair cleanser with natural ingredients then you can try this one but for all the ladies out there with greasy roots, I will be testing out a raved about product for limp hair very soon! So, stay tuned to the blog if you want hair product recommendations for your hair type.

Natural Bath & Body Rose & Mint Facial Water | Review

Rose water has been known as an excellent toner since time immemorial. Add to it the cooling freshness of mint and you have the perfect concoction for your skin for the summer. The Natural Bath & Body Rose & Mint Facial Water combines these two ingredients to produce a fragrant and rejuvenating facial mist cum toner. I got a sample size from Smytten which does not have a spray so I have been using it only as a toner, but the full sized product comes with a spray for easy spritzing throughout the day.

This product first emanates the soothing scent of roses when applied to the skin, then the zesty fragrance of mint kicks in. This facial water is paraben and sulfate free which makes it all the better for the skin. The peppermint oil helps to calm down any redness or itchiness while the rose extracts gently nourish the skin and provide a natural glow with regular usage.

Natural Bath & Body Rose & Mint Facial Water Review

This facial mist is priced at INR 350 for 100ml of the product, which is a little steep, but if you do not have the time to stir up your own skin care products at home and want an option that is easy to throw into the hand bag then you may consider trying out the product. If you have sensitive skin that does not agree with chemicals then this is one item that you must include in your skincare regime.
