You may have the best long-wearing foundation on your face but it may still get defeated by the rains and the humid weather if you do not use a good makeup setting spray. If you step out of the house with perfect makeup but feels that it dulls down or fades over time then today’s post is meant for you. Here is my review of the NYX Professional Makeup Dewy Finish Setting Spray. Read on to find out why you need this product in your life!
Bright lip colors on Indian skin tones can be pretty hit or miss, especially if they belong to the lighter end of the spectrum. Although the NYX Intense Butter Glosses are a cult favorite, in my opinion, the shade Banana Split will not suit anyone with a medium to dusky complexion. I have already reviewed the NYX Intense Butter Gloss in the shade Berry Strudel on the blog but this shade is an entirely different story. Make sure to read the entire review before you add this lip gloss to your cart.
True to its name, the pigmentation of this butter gloss is intense, a bright creamy orange that reminds me of a popsicle. However, perhaps due to the lightness of the shade, the gloss does not provide an opaque finish on the lips even though the arm swatch seems promising. If you look at the lip swatch below, the gloss seeps into the cracks of the lips, creating a not so pretty look. Perhaps you could get an even finish by adding multiple layers but, considering the consistency of the formula, that might get a little messy.
Even if the formula had been opaque on the lips, I don’t think that the color would suit my complexion at all. It is too pale and milky and looks quite fake on my lips. I wish that NYX had released a slightly darker version of this shade as a part of the Intense Butter Gloss collection because the texture is so buttery, light, and hydrating. I guess I will have to stick with the darker shades from the range instead.
If you have a skin tone similar to or darker than mine then I will not recommend buying this particular shade. However, if you have already bought this lip gloss and do not want to throw it away then you can apply a dark and creamy lip liner before using this gloss, to create a more opaque and natural color. You can also use it over a lipstick to create an ombre effect, by applying only to the center of the lips and blending in.
This season is all about experimenting with unique lip colors, from bright blues to neon oranges. However, I feel that one unusual lip color that I am brave enough to sport on my lips is purple. If you are looking for a blue toned purple to add a pop of color to your face then I will suggest going with the NYX Intense Butter Gloss in the shade Berry Strudel.
This lip gloss lives up to its name and provides intense pigmentation while leaving the lips soft like butter. I admit that this color looks a bit scary in the hand swatch but when you apply it on the lips some of the natural pink color of the lips peeks through, making this purple a bit more wearable. Since it is a lip gloss and not a liquid lipstick, the finish is not fully opaque but is shiny and semi-opaque instead. This kind of a finish is actually good for those who are experimenting with bold colors for the first time because it softens the look. If you wish, you can add a few more layers for a fully opaque look.
Also, unlike liquid lipsticks, this gloss is easier to apply and more comfortable to wear. It has a decent longevity of around 3-4 hours as well. It also has a strong scent of some sort of a dessert, which I quite enjoy.
I love that this product provides hydration as well as bold color, a combination that is hard to find. Priced at INR 575, the range includes a bunch of different colors to choose from but I think that this purple shade is perfect for adding some brightness to your outfits for spring and summer.

When it comes to Valentine’s Day, I always prefer to go for a pink and floral themed outfit. This look, however, is also perfect for any date in the daytime or a brunch with the girls. I think that the slight hint of green in the makeup adds a special touch and pairs really well with the shades of pink.
This look is very easy to recreate with basic products and would go well with pastel colored dresses if you tweak the shades as per your outfit.
I do not like to spend too much time on getting ready, so I usually opt for a simple look like this.
These are the products that I used on my face today-
1. Foundation – Loreal Infallible 24H Foundation in the shade 250-Radiant Sand.
2. Concealer – Loreal True Match Concealer in the shade Light-Medium
3. Eyeshadow – Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush in Fresh Coral & the light green shade from the Rimmel Comfort Zone Palette.
4. Eyeliner + Waterline – NYX Eye Pencil in the shade 909 – Vert
5. Mascara – The Maybelline Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara
5. Lips – Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in the shade 225 – Sultry
6. A touch of bronzer from the Makeup Revolution Protection Palette in the shade medium.
What are your plans for Valentine’s Day and what are you going to wear?
