A few months back, Nykaa had released a range of nailcare products specially formulated to provide nourishment to the nails. I recently tried out the 7-in-1 Nail Spa from the range, which claims to provide the following 7 benefits to the nails – Strength, Hardening, Protection, Smoothing, Hydration, Nutrition, and Shine. Read on to find out whether this product lived up to my expectations or not.
The Nykaa 7-in-1 Nail Spa is basically a slightly translucent, milky nail polish that provides a “My nails but better” look with two coats. It can be worn on its own or under another polish as a base coat. The formula is not thick, spreads easily on the nail and provides some shine too. It has a mild fruity scent which is quite pleasant. The formula contains Acetyl-Methionine and Keratin-like Peptide to prevent breakage and Hexanal to harden the nails. It also contains amino acids to stimulate growth, vitamin E and violet extracts for hydration, and argan and Baobab oils for nourishment.
While I have never suffered from growth issues, I do experience chipping of the upper parts of my nails quite frequently. After using this nail paint, my nails have not chipped or broken at all, and I am pretty pleased about it. Additionally, when used as a base coat, this nail product extends the life of nail paints by at least 2 days.
Overall, I am satisfied with this product purely because it strengthened my nails and prevented breakage. While it does provide a nice shine too, I personally prefer using it as a base coat, so the shine is lost on me. Priced at INR 249, this product is definitely worth the buy if you are suffering from weak nails that are prone to breakage.
Nothing says bold like a jet black matte winged eyeliner, and the Nykaa Get Inked! Sketch Eyeliner in the shade 01 – Onyx is what I have been using lately to achieve this look. While there are a whole bunch of reviews in the blogosphere about this product, here are my two cents about the product for those who are still on the fence about buying this eyeliner.
The Nykaa Get Inked eyeliner comes with a super thin felt tip applicator in a pen packaging. The thin tip allows extremely precise application and is perfect for those who prefer a very thin line of eyeliner for daily wear. Multiple swipes are needed to create a thicker line or a wing, which can be a little annoying if you are impatient like me, and the trouble is filling all those tiny gaps between the swipes if you do not draw them perfectly close together. However, once you have mastered using this product, the formula will definitely not disappoint. The formula is completely smudge-proof and waterproof and dries to a deep matte black within seconds. The colour payoff is amazing, as is the longevity. I have worn this eyeliner for more than 10 hours without it budging from its place, which is why it gets my nod of approval.
Priced at INR 450 but usually available at a discounted price on Nykaa.com, this eyeliner is definitely a good investment for its quality. If you use an eyeliner on a daily basis then this product will be great for you, because felt tip eyeliners tend to dry faster than the bottled eyeliners. A perfect matte eyeliner that I am sure you will love!
Back in the golden days, a swipe of the kajal crayon thingy from Lakme in my waterline and I would feel so made up 😛 Then came the era of retractable kajal pencils and what not and the thick smoky line of kajal got replaced by a thin black line that did not venture beyond the waterline. However, Indian eyes are best complemented by the thick line of kohl, the old-fashioned and the best way, which is why I recently purchased the Nykaa EyemBold Kajal to go back to my favourite eye look that I had abandoned several years ago.
For the longest time, I refrained from buying this product because I had heard that it irritates the eyes and I have fairly sensitive ones. However, luckily for me, the formula does not sting my eyes at all and I only feel a slight sensation if the product enters the area near my tear duct. As you can see in the swatches below, the pigmentation is on point, and the product creates a jet black line in one swipe. The formula is waterproof and almost completely smudge-proof. I am someone who has to spend long hours at the office and even the most long-lasting kajals tend to bail on me due to watery eyes. This one, on the other hand, stays pretty much intact throughout the day and the intensity of the pigment stays the same for at least 8 hours.
Since the product is in the form of a jumbo pencil, it goes on as a thicker line on the eyes as compared to the retractable kajals available in the market. However, it is easy to control the thickness while application by adjusting the pressure you apply against the waterline. Overall, this product can give you a nice daily look as well as a smokier look for a special occasion. Priced at INR 450, this kajal comes with a free sharpener, which I feel is good value for money because a little product goes a really long way and I am sure that this kajal pencil will last me for months.
Overall, the Nykaa EyemBold Kajal receives a big thumbs up from me for bringing back memories of the good old kohl days and making me fall in love with smokier kajal again. Do try it out if you want a bold, jet black kajal that lasts all day long.
Update from future me – Hey there, I am updating this blog post in July 2019. A single pencil of this kajal has lasted me this long and there is still a fair amount of product left, even though it has detached from the pencil casing, it is still usable. This product is definitely worth the money considering how long it lasts!
