Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk | Review

Remember the good old days of cleansing milk? Back when there were no micellar waters or cleansing balms to take our makeup off in one swipe? Those were the days when double cleansing was unheard of and a makeup wipe was hard to come by in a supermarket. With the advent of these products and waterproof makeup, the trusty cleansing milks lost their sheen and were pushed to the back of many a makeup closet, and I must confess, I purchased the Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk primarily for nostalgic reasons. While it is an absolute joy to relive a teenage memory, here is how the product fared in other departments.

Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk | Review

The Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk is a rich milky cream with the classic Nivea scent that I adore. It removes light weight makeup quite easily while being extremely nourishing and hydrating – I can actually feel that my skin is plumper and softer just after using this product. However, since I always wash my face with a cleanser after using this cleansing milk, I am not sure how much I actually benefit from its nourishing properties, although my skin does feel more moisturised than usual.

When it comes to removing waterproof makeup, this cleansing milk does not fare so well, especially with waterproof mascara, eyeliner and liquid lipsticks. Personally, I reserve this for the days when I am wearing less or no makeup, because it also removes the dirt and grease from the skin even when there is no makeup on it. I love its creamy texture on the skin and the fact that is so very gentle, and no, it does not sting the eyes either!

Overall, the Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk is a good option for those who wear light to minimal makeup on a daily basis. It can also be a good first cleanse of the makeup removal regimen for those who prefer heavier/long-wearing makeup. An excellent cleansing milk for all skin types, I would particularly recommend this one to those with sensitive skin.

Nivea Total Face Cleanup | Review

The jars and bottles and vials of skincare do look pretty on the bathroom shelf but when I am travelling, I want something that is spillproof, unbreakable, and preferably multi-tasking. The Nivea Total Face Cleanup is the perfect product for a low maintenance traveller like me. Also, this product holds a special place in my heart because it was one of the first great skincare products I ever used. While growing up, Nivea products were considered luxury because they were a little expensive than your regular Ponds or Vaseline. So this is a product that I have been using since a really long time and I’m probably one of the most qualified persons to review it 😛

This product is a face wash, scrub, and pack combined in one. It has a similar consistency to a semi-thick clay mask and has tiny gritty particles embedded in it. It is a really effective scrub that does help with the removal of white heads, while being gentle enough for sensitive skin, and the cleansing action is decent too. I also love using it as a mask because it dries down in less than 5 minutes and sucks out all the grease from the face if you keep it on for around 10 minutes.

As you can see, the first three ingredients of this product are water, Kaolin Clay, and Glycerin. The clay helps in absorbing all the grime from the face while the glycerin ensures that the skin does not become too dry. However, it does contain parabens as well, which may turn off a few people. Personally, I don’t mind using something with parabens once in a while, especially because I almost always use organic skincare and use this product primarily when I am travelling (which is not as often as I would like). Also, the tube packaging makes it ideal for throwing into my purse or luggage to make sure that I don’t neglect my skincare completely while on holiday.

Priced at INR 120 for a 50ml tube, this is a fairly affordable product and is multi-tasking too. I love its pleasant fragrance, effective scrubbing action, and efficacy as a face mask. While the product claims to remove spots as well, I haven’t seen much improvement in that department but other than that, I am completely satisfied with the Nivea Total Face Cleanup. After Shave Balm or Primer?

I recently used the Nivea After Shave Balm as a primer for a makeup look and loved the result so much that I decided to dedicate an entire post to this discovery. Several beauty gurus have showered praise upon this product for its priming properties and they are absolutely right! This balm has a semi-fluid consistency and a few drops are sufficient for covering the entire face. The key property is the sticky texture which allows the foundation to adhere to the skin and makes it stay in place the entire day. The stickiness might feel a little uncomfortable upon application but once you apply the makeup it will be fine.

The mild fragrance may seem a little manly but disappears within a few minutes. This is an extremely affordable alternative to a regular primer and is priced at only INR 235 for a 100ml bottle, which will definitely last you for months. It might not be able to mask giant pores but extends the longevity of makeup by hours while hydrating the skin. Additionally, this product is designed for sensitive skin and does not contain alcohol. So save your money and try this balm instead of splurging on high-end primers. I promise that it will not encourage the growth of facial hair 🙂

Here is the look that I created using this primer.
