I have already reviewed the Nykaa Salon Gel Nail Lacquers on this blog, but I had only purchased dark and bright shades from the range till now. This time, I went for a nude peach shade called San Fran Mood (209) and since the formula of lighter shades can be different from those of the brighter shades, I decided to review it for all of you. Read on to check out my thoughts about this nail paint!
Who on earth needs a review for a nail polish remover, right? Well, I am writing one anyway because you need to know about this particular nail color remover if you haven’t already. If you hate the scent of most nail polish removers and are too impatient to spend more than a couple of minutes on removing your nail paint then you must read on!
The Maybelline Color Show Nail Color Remover does smell like a regular nail polish remover in the bottle, but once you use it on your nails, it actually leaves behind a pleasant scent. Also, this product is able to remove the more stubborn formulas with significant ease. I am talking about the gel finish nail paints and those with chunky glitter in them. Also, you need just a dab of the product for both the hands, which means that the bottle lasts for quite some time.
The formula also claims to contain Vitamin E which is supposed to be really good for the nails. Personally, I have noticed that my nails stain less since I have switched to this nail paint remover. I am talking about the yellowing that happens on the nails when you don’t leave them bare for adequate time in between manicures (I plead guilty).
The efficacy of this nail polish remover justifies the price point of INR 90 for a 30ml bottle. If you are in the market for a new nail paint remover then I recommend trying this one. I am sure you won’t be disappointed!
If nude nail paints are your jam then this post is meant for you! I recently tried out the Sugar Tip Tac Toe Nail Lacquer in the extremely unique shade – Tan About Town (47) and have been going gaga over it. Read on to find out more about this beautiful matte brown shade.
Tan About Town is a gorgeous brown nude for medium to dark Indian skin tones that will not wash you out. It has an autumny vibe to it but I love it for the summer too. What is unique about this shade is that it is completely matte but has some extremely fine shimmer particles embedded throughout the formula (hence the description metallic matte) that add another dimension to the nails, I have never seen this in a matte polish before. The yellow toned brown is a gorgeous shade that would go with almost any outfit for any occasion and is a refreshing change from the usual pinky nudes.
The formula is quite runny, which makes it extremely easy to apply on the nails in a single swipe. The pigmentation is also on point and provides opaque coverage with just one coat. Upon application, the nail paint initially looks glossy but dries down to a perfect matte within a few seconds. It is a quick dry formula which is ideal for when you have to be out of the house within minutes. I also love the wide brush which literally covers the entire nail in one stroke, making this product very easy to use. As for the longevity, the nail polish lasts for a decent 4-5 days if you do not perform heavy duty household chores.
Overall, I am super pleased with this offbeat addition to my nail paint collection and do not regret paying INR 299 for the bottle (you can even make use of the various promotions that Sugar keeps running and get it for way cheaper). A spectacular shade for office wear as well as for night outs, I will highly recommend adding this to your cart.
The chilly weather means that the days of hot chocolate, cozy scarves and dark nails are here. One of the shades that I hardly ever wear in summer but love to sport on my nails in winter is a jewel-toned purple, and the Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamel in the shade Amethyst fits the bill perfectly.
This shade is a dark purple with a metallic sheen that looks chic but not vampy. It is a color that will look good on both short nails and long nails and will go well with most outfits. It is the right mix of being bold and sophisticated and I really enjoy it as a winter shade. The formula is also fairly chip resistant and lasts on the nails for at least a week. The only issue with this particular shade is that it goes on a little patchy and you will need at least 3 coats to get a perfectly opaque finish. It has a thin brush that allows precise application and works well with the slightly runny consistency of the nail paint.
The Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Nail Paints are priced at INR 460 in India, which is quite pricey to be honest, however, the large (11.7ml) bottle makes up for the price slightly. If you are looking for something affordable then these nail paints are not the best option for you but if you are in love with a particular shade and want something long wearing then they will provide you your money’s worth for sure.
I just came to know that Nykaa is releasing some new shades as a part of their Pastel Nail Enamel collection, and here I am, still drooling over the shades from the original range. On my nails today is the Nykaa Pastel Nail Enamel in the shade 82 Lychee Delight, a sophisticated yet unique nude nail color that is the perfect balance of white and grey.
As the name suggests, this shade seems to be inspired by the color of the pulp of the lychee fruit, although it has slightly heavier grey undertones. This milky grey color will complement fair to medium skin tones really well and is the perfect shade for professional women.
This particular shade requires at least 2 coats and you may even need 3 coats if you want a completely opaque finish. Just like the rest of the Nykaa Pastel Nail Enamels, the formula of Lychee Delight is also quite thin and easy to work with. The brush is a narrow one and you will need to go over each nail at least thrice to coat the entire surface. Despite the brush being narrow, the richness of the formula prevents the final finish from being streaky.
Priced at INR 179, the Nykaa Pastel Nail Enamels are quite a bargain, considering the huge range of flattering shades they are available in. The only problem that I have with the formula is that it begins to chip within 3 days. Nevertheless, these nail colors are gorgeous while they last on the nails and I will definitely be checking out the new shades launched by Nykaa for this season!
I hope that this review was helpful, you can buy the Nykaa Pastel Nail Enamels here.
Summer is the time to experiment with fun colors and a pastel nail paint is the best way to add some brightness to your look. I love all the shades from the Nykaa Pastel Nail Enamel range that I have tried till date and the shade 23 – Bubble Yum is no exception. I received this delicate pink nail paint as a birthday gift from Nykaa but tried it out for the first time this month. I thought that you guys might be interested in the review and swatches of this product, so here you go!
I was a little afraid that this color would end up looking too neon and tacky on my nails but was pleased to find out that it is neither of those things. It is in fact, a bright, light pink with generous white undertones. It appears milkier in certain lights than others and sometimes lives up to its name and shows up as a bubblegum pink. It is definitely more of a playful color than a sophisticated one but I like it. I think that this shade is perfect for nail art too!
You do not need more than two coats of this product and even one coat is pretty opaque. Texturewise, it is creamy with a slight shine but I have noticed that if I am not too careful while applying it, I end up with a bubbly surface instead of a smooth one. These nail paints are not very chip resistant and tend to start chipping within 3-4 days. The colors, however, are so stunning that I always end up buying more shades.
The Nykaa Pastel Nail Enamels are priced at INR 179, I know that I am repeating myself but the unique colors of this range make them worth the money. I would highly recommend the shade Bubble Yum if you like the girly, Barbie doll nails. If you prefer more muted colors then check out the other shades from the range, they have some great neutrals too!
I got the Nykaa Pastel Nail Enamel in the shade #73 Lilac Cupcake as a birthday perk with my purchase from Nykaa.com, and it arrived just in time for spring. You know that a nail paint is good if you apply the same color twice in a row, and that is what happened with this beautiful periwinkle blue nail color.
What impressed me the most about this formula is the opacity that it provides in just one coat. I do throw on a second coat for good measure but you can definitely get away with just one. I do not need to say much about the color because it speaks for itself. A milky, pastel blue that is nothing like anything else I own. This color is subtle but bright at the same time and looks really good on the toes as well!
The formula provides a medium shine and has a wear time of 4-5 days. The pastel range is my favorite among all the Nykaa nails paints, the colors are unique and beautiful. Priced at INR 179 for a 9 ml bottle, this is the perfect nail color for a beach vacation!

I do not really follow the rules of seasonal colors when it comes to painting my nails and I’m still rocking this oxblood nail color even though it is almost spring where I live. The Maybelline Super Stay 7 Days Gel Nail Color in the shade 270 Ever Burgundy is the perfect oxblood for those who love to rock dark shades all year long or live in the other hemisphere and are still experiencing winter.
I have already reviewed the formula in detail in an earlier post but basically, it is a great alternative to gel manicures and does not chip for at least 10 days. Maybelline has managed to create such a perfect formula with this range that I hardly buy any other nail polishes these days.
I think this deep burgundy shade would look stunning with a black ensemble, dark lips, and smoky eyes. Let me know how you would style this shade. Also, do tell me if you are comfortable sporting such dark colors during the warmer months.
I finally jumped on the matte nails bandwagon with Nykaa’s Matte Nail Lacquer in the shade Blueberry Sorbet. This shade belongs to Nykaa’s Neon Matte Nail Enamel collection, although I am not sure if I would call this particular shade a neon blue, but I do love the color.
This particular shade needs 3 coats for an opaque finish- I was a bit concerned as the first coat was very sheer, but after 3 coats it looked just fine. The formula dries to a true matte but the matte finish fades within 2 days to a dull glossy finish which chips on my nail in another 2 days.
I would recommend this product to those who need a matte blue polish for a special day or a particular outfit because the matte finish does not last very long. This product can be purchased on Nykaa’s website for INR 199 for a 9 ml bottle. Personally, I still prefer an old-school glossy nail paint, what about you?

The metallic trend that was all the rage in 2016 is here to stay this year as well, and I am not complaining. With tonnes of metallic shades to choose from, be it rose gold, silver, tungsten or even a metallic purple, I still place my bets on the classic gold.
Gold not only looks classy, it also complements a lot of different looks and outfits. My favorite way to wear gold is on my nails, these nails take me from a soft peach dress in the day to a little black number at night. I also feel that gold looks particularly beautiful on medium to dusky skin tone and highlights a holiday tan perfectly.
On my nails today, I am wearing my beloved Colorbar Metallic Nail Lacquer in 011 Treasure. This is a slightly muted gold without any over the top yellow undertones, which makes it more wearable on a daily basis. It is a gold metallic lacquer, with tiny micro shimmers in the same color that catch the light beautifully adding a more posh look to your nails.
The formula is quite liquidy and glides smoothly on the nails; each coat takes around 7-8 minutes to dry completely. For a completely opaque metallic look, I usually need 2-3 coats. The brush is the old school thin variety which aides with precise application.
The staying power of this polish is quite good and it does not chip on me for a good 5 days, the color, however, dulls a little after 3 days to a more silvery gold. I love the fact that it does not contain any chunky glitter which makes the polish more elegant and also easy to remove without needing to rub vigorously with acetone.
Colorbar Metallic Nail Lacquers are available at a reasonable price of INR 250 for a 9 ml bottle, which I believe is great value for money. I would highly recommend this nail paint to all girls on the hunt for gorgeous golden nails.

If your new year’s resolutions include spending less time and money at the salon then you must read on. Today I will talk about the ONLY nail polish formula that lasts on my nails for an entire week without a single chip, the very appropriately named Maybelline Super Stay 7 Days Gel Nail Color. My nails are the worst when it comes to chipped polish; they seem to possess some magical powers that induce chipping but this formula is a holy grail favourite that comes to my rescue each time.
The formula is thick and has a gel like consistency, it is quite glossy on its own, but can be enhanced to a super shiny look with an appropriate top coat. The pigmentation is intense and opaque in a single coat; you will not need more than 2 coats for a perfect finish. The wide brush makes the polish super easy to apply, and although the formula has a slightly gel-like consistency, it spreads evenly on the nails. The drying time is pretty good too, it takes less than 10 minutes for each coat to dry, and so in 20 minutes you will get glamorous nails that last for days! Despite the formula being quite thick, it does not get gooey or stringy in the bottle and the shelf life is pretty good. Coming to the most important part, the longevity, the formula pleasantly surprised me when I wore it for the first time. I ripped open packages, shampooed my hair, washed utensils, but the nail paint didn’t budge at all for a whole week. I could even get away with wearing this for 10 days without any ugly chips (only tiny ones close to the tips).
My favorite shade is 08 Rouge Passion (Passionate Red), which is a bright tomato red, perfect for the holiday season. This colour appears slightly orange in yellow light but is a true red in white light, it is well suited for all skin tones, and is a great shade for the toes as well! The formula and chip resistance is pretty consistent across all the shades (I have also tried and loved 460 Orange Couture, 270 Ever Burgundy, 635 Surreal and 869 Emerald Excess). The polishes are available in a multitude of shades and Maybelline seems to be bringing out new colors every season.
The packaging is extremely sturdy and looks quite high end. The white caps look great all stacked together on the vanity, and the trapezoidal bottles have a luxurious feel to them. They are the kind of bottles that will not break in the suitcase when you pack them in your carry-on. This range falls around the 10$ price mark in the US, and is available in India for INR 375 for a 10ml bottle. Although the price is a little steep for a drugstore polish, I feel that it is justified considering the quality and wear time of the product.
This is my go-to polish when I go on vacation because I don’t need to bother with repainting my nails. In my opinion, it is a great DIY alternative to a gel manicure. This nail polish is ideal for lazy girls like me, who don’t want to invest too much time in the vicious cycle of painting and drying their nails and need a foolproof and quick solution to well-manicured nails.
To sum it up, Maybelline Super Stay 7 Day Gel Nail Color gets two thumbs up (and two big toes up?) along with a sack full of love from me. This is hands down one of the best drugstore nail paints out there and could give solid competition to gel manicures!
