Winter in India is usually quite cruel on the skin and leaves it dry and flakey. Even though I have oily skin during the warmer months, it leans towards combination to dry during the peak of winter and becomes quite dull too. This is why I was thrilled to receive a package from Suganda Skincare which contained 3 products that will take extra care of a range of skin types during the harsh and cold weather. This kit contains the Suganda Centella Green Tea Face Wash, the Suganda Niacinamide Serum and the Suganda Rosehip Moisturizer and here are my thoughts on these products!
You can find some skincare gems from Indie brands which can make the high-end skincare brands make a run for their money. Whenever I discover a skincare product that is affordable, clean, and from a homegrown brand, I feel elated and eager to share it with all of you. Suganda Skincare is one such brand started by an Indian mother whose quest for finding clean skincare for her child eventually lead her to study cosmetology and eventually launch her own skincare range. The Suganda White Lotus Moisturiser has received a lot of love from Indian bloggers and Instagrammers and for good reason. Here is what my experience with the product has been so far.
Water-based gels are the perfect last step of a skincare regimen, especially for those with oily skin. These gels help to seal in all the moisture from other skincare products and also make the skin hydrated and plump due to the presence of ingredients such as hyaluronic acid. One such water gel that has gained a lot of praise around the globe is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel. I recently picked up this product from Nykaa.com, and here is what I think about it.
The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel comes in a beautiful blue plastic jar which is very sturdy. It has an additional plastic cap under the lid to prevent any leakage of the product, which makes it slightly more travel-friendly. I personally love the soothing blue colour of the packaging because even by looking at the jar, you will feel that this product provides tons of hydration.
The product itself is a translucent blue gel that spreads on the skin with extreme ease. It looks slightly shiny (wet) on the skin right after application but within a few seconds, the shine vanishes completely. It leaves the skin looking hydrated and plump without making it greasy. It feels extremely light-weight on the skin, and makes the skin feel soft and youthful for several hours. I am not sure about the 48-hour claim but I do wake up to plump and moisturised skin when I apply this product at night. The ingredient list does not contain the most natural ingredients, but it does contain hyaluronic acid, which is known to provide extreme hydration.
Overall, this gel is perfect for those with oily but dehydrated, acne-prone skin because it adds moisture without making the skin greasy or clogging the pores. The price of INR 849 for a 50g jar is decent, considering that you need the tiniest amount of product every day. If you are tired of super dehydrated skin then this is the drink that your face needs!
I have recently developed a curiosity for Innisfree products and after trying out a few samples from the brand, I wanted to invest in a full-sized product. Since it was my first significant investment in their range, I chose something that seemed to be better value for money than many of their insanely priced products, and the ingredient list seemed perfect for my skin. The product I picked up was the Innisfree Green Tea Seed Essence in Lotion. After using it for a few weeks, here is what I think about the product.
The Innisfree Green Tea Seed Essence in Lotion is packed with the goodness of anti-oxidants and amino acids along with the essence of Jeju Green Tea. The formula is in the form of a watery lotion that spreads really easily on the skin. It takes a few minutes to sink into the skin and looks a little shiny until then. Once fully absorbed, it leaves the skin looking smooth, hydrated and plump. It is basically like a refreshing drink for the skin that provides a boost of hydration without being greasy. Green tea based products really suit my acne-prone combination skin and this lotion has helped calm down a few breakouts that appeared on my skin but disappeared without flaring up to their full extent.
I basically use this lotion as a serum, sometimes on its own after toning, and sometimes in conjunction with a night/day cream. If you are someone with greasy skin, this product would be the perfect moisturiser for you on its own, and if you have extremely dry skin then you may want to top it up with a cream.
Overall, this lotion is excellent for all skin types, even sensitive skin. It is light-weight yet hydrating and extremely gentle. As a bonus, it helps curb acne too and is paraben free. Also, the price point of INR 1550 for a huge 100ml bottle with a pump is actually very budget-friendly considering you need just a few drops of the lotion every day. If you are someone who has been eyeing Innisfree products since a long time but are worried about the price tags then this lotion will be a great buy for you. Definitely Lipstick-for-Lunch approved!
