Maybelline Color Show Nail Color Remover | Review

Who on earth needs a review for a nail polish remover, right? Well, I am writing one anyway because you need to know about this particular nail color remover if you haven’t already. If you hate the scent of most nail polish removers and are too impatient to spend more than a couple of minutes on removing your nail paint then you must read on!

Maybelline Color Show Nail Color Remover | Review

The Maybelline Color Show Nail Color Remover does smell like a regular nail polish remover in the bottle, but once you use it on your nails, it actually leaves behind a pleasant scent. Also, this product is able to remove the more stubborn formulas with significant ease. I am talking about the gel finish nail paints and those with chunky glitter in them. Also, you need just a dab of the product for both the hands, which means that the bottle lasts for quite some time.

Maybelline Color Show Nail Color Remover | Review

The formula also claims to contain Vitamin E which is supposed to be really good for the nails. Personally, I have noticed that my nails stain less since I have switched to this nail paint remover. I am talking about the yellowing that happens on the nails when you don’t leave them bare for adequate time in between manicures (I plead guilty).

Maybelline Color Show Nail Color Remover | Review

The efficacy of this nail polish remover justifies the price point of INR 90 for a 30ml bottle. If you are in the market for a new nail paint remover then I recommend trying this one. I am sure you won’t be disappointed!

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind – Dark Circle Eraser | Review

I have been very hesitant in writing this review since a long time. The Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser is something that a majority of the beauty community raves about, but it took me a long time to fall in love with this product. While my initial thoughts about the concealer were not very positive, over time, this has become my favorite under eye concealer. So here is the story of what I did not like about the product in the beginning and what changed my mind about it after a few months of use.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser Concealer Review

The first thing that I did not like about the product was its packaging, I never get along with twist up packaging because it is very difficult to gauge how many twists are required to get the right amount of product on the sponge. Also, the sponge applicator looks cute but I do have to blend the product in with my fingers or a makeup brush anyway, so it seemed a little gimmicky to me. Furthermore, I purchased the shade Medium which seemed a little too light for my skin tone, which is why I placed the product in my box of concealers and forgot about it. However, when I kept on reading great reviews all over the Internet, I decided to give it one more shot.

Once I looked beyond the mess caused by the twist up packaging, I realized that this concealer has the perfect consistency for the under eye area. It is thinner than most of the concealers I own and therefore tends to settle much less in the fine lines beneath the eyes. As for the shade, while it was still too light for my liking, applying this concealer before foundation did the trick because the layer of foundation on top helped to darken the color but the brightness provided by the concealer was still able to counteract my dark circles. The first time I had tried this product, I belonged to the “concealer on top of foundation” school of thought but the second time around, reversing the steps made this product work like a dream for me. I had never felt that I needed two different concealers for my eyes and face but after using the Maybelline Dark Circle Eraser, I came to know that a thinner concealer for the under eye area looks way more flattering than a creamy one.

Here is a picture of me without any makeup-

And here is one after applying only the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser (I applied some on my lids as well) –

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser Concealer Review

As you can probably tell, the concealer instantly brightens up the under eye area and does not exaggerate my fine lines in an ugly manner. The shade medium definitely has some hints of yellow undertones that make it ideal for light – medium Indian skin tones. The only problem is that Maybelline has not released this product in India yet (Why, Maybelline, why? We Indian women have dark circles too!) and so you can purchase it only from sites like Amazon where it is priced at more than a 1000 bucks. I would say that it is still worth the buy because the product lasts a long time, but knowing that it is available in other countries at drugstore prices does make me wish that it was cheaper. So if you are willing to pay so much or are traveling to another country where this concealer is more affordable then do buy it to get a brighter under eye area in a jiffy! Here’s hoping that Maybelline releases this concealer in India soon!

Maybelline Color Show / Cheeky Glow Blush – Fresh Coral | Review and Swatches

You know that a product is a cult classic when a brand keeps manufacturing it for years and years and today I will talk about one such product. I am not a huge blush wearer but if there is one blush that I always swear by, it is the Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush in the shade Fresh Coral. I still have the old packaging of this product although it seems that it has now been rebranded and repackaged as the Maybelline Color Show Blush. The shades and the formula remain the same though, so my review holds true for both the Cheeky Glow and the Color Show versions (so much confusion though!).

Maybelline Color Show / Cheeky Glow Blush - Fresh Coral | Review and Swatches

The shade Fresh Coral is true to its name. It is a warm pinkish coral with muted orange undertones. I feel that this type of a coral shade suits Indian skin tones more than the true pinks. I use this color on my cheeks for a nice coral flush and sometimes mix it in with a bronzer to create a blush cum contour. I also use it on my eyes as an eye shadow that gives a nice feminine touch to my makeup.

Maybelline Color Show / Cheeky Glow Blush - Fresh Coral | Review and Swatches

The formula is a very soft powder that does not have much chalkiness to it. It blends like a dream on the skin and you can build up the color up to the desired pigmentation without your cheeks looking cakey. I love the super adorable and dinky packaging and would buy this product just for the cuteness factor although it performs really well too.

Maybelline Color Show / Cheeky Glow Blush - Fresh Coral | Review and Swatches

Here is a picture of me wearing this blush as an eyeshadow on the outer corners of my lids. The powder works really well with a foundation or concealer underneath and stays put all day long.

Soft Pink Makeup

This product is priced at INR 299 and is one of the most affordable and amazing blushes in the market. Its texture is perfect and you don’t really need anything more expensive unless you are on the hunt for a specific shade. The Maybelline Color Show Blushes are also available in two more shades, Peachy Sweetie, which is a cooler pink, and Creamy Cinnamon which has brown undertones. I am eyeing Creamy Cinnamon next to use as a contour (check out my Blush as a Contour post to find out how!) but if you are looking for a warmer pink blush then Fresh Coral will not disappoint!

Maybelline Colossal Kajal – Deep Black | Review and Swatches

Kajal, one makeup product that most Indian women cannot step out of the house without. Some feel that they look tired without a bold black line bordering their eyes while others believe that their makeup looks incomplete without kohl. The first retractable kohl pencil that I ever owned was The Colossal Kajal from Maybelline. Being the most affordable product of its kind in India, this was the only kajal that I used throughout my college days. Over the years, I have discovered several other kohl pencils that are more long-lasting and offer better pigmentation but this product holds a nostalgic value in my heart. This is why when Maybelline released a new Black Fix Formula with Aloe Vera for The Colossal Kajal, I couldn’t resist trying it out.

Maybelline Colossal Kajal Deep Black Review

This new black fix formula is supposed to be more gentle on the eyes and the aloe vera is meant to nourish them. Personally, I never felt any irritation whatsoever with the original formula of this product and nor did I with the new one. The pigmentation is also similar as before. To me, it seems more like a dark, smoky grey instead of a jet black. There are many variants available in the drugstore at the moment that are way blacker, but when it comes to being gentle on the waterline, this is the only product that never tingles my super sensitive eyes at all.

Maybelline Colossal Kajal Deep Black Review Swatches

The texture of this kajal is a little stiff and not as creamy as I prefer. It tugs slightly at the waterline but not so much as to hurt the eyes while application. A single swipe looks darker on the arm than it does on the eyes and you will need at least 2-3 swipes for a perfectly black finish. Unfortunately, it does not last long on my waterline and starts fading at the corners within a few hours and vanishes almost completely by the end of the day. As shown in the picture below, the color has started fading at the outer corners even though the photo was taken only an hour post-application.

Maybelline Colossal Kajal Deep Black Review Swatches Eyes

Priced at INR 180, this is one of the most affordable retractable kohl pencil in the market although it does not have great pigmentation or longevity. Now that Lakme has dropped the price of the Eyeconic Kajal to INR 180, I would recommend buying the Eyeconic Kajal instead of this one because it is blacker and creamier. If the Lakme product irritates your eyes, only then would the Maybelline Colossal Kajal be a better alternative because it is one of the gentlest kohls available in the market.

Maybelline Color Show Lipstick – Crushed Candy | Review and Swatches

Red lips may sound extremely glamorous but what adds a flush of color to most girls’ lips on a daily basis is a pink lipstick. And because a pink lipstick is a part of the daily makeup routine and is one of the few lip products that we actually end up finishing, it seems like a good idea to find a trustworthy but affordable option. The Maybelline Color Show Lipsticks have been around for a long time due to their excellent formula, and the shade 103 – Crushed Candy is the perfect pink for daily wear.

Maybelline Color Show Lipstick Crushed Candy Review

Just like the other lipsticks from the Color Show range, the formula of the shade Crushed Candy is creamy and moisturizing. I love the name of the shade and the fragrance of the lipstick is that of candies and lollipops too! The pigmentation is decent and you should be able to achieve an opaque finish in approximately 2 swipes. However, since it is a light shade, if you have highly pigmented lips then the color will not be able to conceal the patches completely. Also, I would recommend scrubbing your lips before using this lipstick because although the product doesn’t settle in the creases, it may exaggerate some bumps on the lips.

Maybelline Color Show Lipstick Crushed Candy Swatches Review

The shade looks darker in the bullet than it does on the lips. It is a darker and deeper version of a cotton candy pink, which makes it more suitable for Indian skin tones. I personally do not like super light pinks as they do not go well with my complexion but this one is the perfect “My Lips But Pinker” shade for me. As for the longevity, since the formula is a creamy one, it requires reapplication every 3 hours or so. Also, because it is slightly slippery on the lips, it would be better to use a lipliner under the lipstick if you are going to be eating. However, if you are just going out for a couple of hours or do not mind touching up once or twice throughout the day, this lipstick will work really well for a more natural makeup look.

Maybelline Color Show Lipstick Crushed Candy Swatches Review

Priced at INR 299 only, the Maybelline Color Show Lipstick in the shade Crushed Candy is ideal for when you need a break from the super matte liquid lipsticks and want something that can be applied in a jiffy. What is more, the formula is so nourishing that this lipstick can also double up as a lip balm. To top it all of, this formula is available in a wide variety of colors ranging from baby pinks to vampy reds. What more can you ask for from such an affordable product? If you like experimenting with lip colors but do not want to burn a hole in your pocket then the Maybelline Color Show Lipsticks are here to be your savior!

Maybelline New York Fashion Brow Cream Pencil – Grey | Review

I must admit, I am extremely lazy when it comes to my brows and have no clue regarding how to use fancy brow products like pomades. However, when Maybelline came out with its Fashion Brow Cream Pencil, I thought that handling a brow pencil should be easy enough. I am glad that I invested in this handy product because it provides an instant and effortless makeover to my brows 🙂

Maybelline New York Fashion Brow Cream Pencil GreyI went for the Maybelline Fashion Brow Cream Pencil in the shade Grey, the other variant being a warm brown which I believe won’t suit most Indian eyebrows as much as this cool toned dark grey shade. I love that this color is not a jet black that may look fake, but a more natural and lighter shade instead. Texture wise, this pencil is creamy enough for easy application yet waxy enough to stay in place and not get messy. I primarily use it for filling in the sparse areas of my brows and it provides a nice, greyish shadow that gives the illusion of fuller brows.

Maybelline New York Fashion Brow Cream Pencil Grey Swatches ReviewThe great thing about this product is that it is incredibly affordable and is priced at INR 175 (can be found at even cheaper rates online!). Considering that it is a brow pencil and such products tend to last a lifetime, you can’t really go wrong with this product. This pencil is a great way to venture into the world of eyebrow products, because it is easy to use and is not intimidating like the newer brow products that have hit the shelves. Personally, I am very pleased that I have finally gained the courage to fill in my brows, thanks to this amazing brow pencil!

Maybelline New York Lash Sensational Mascara | Review

It is no secret that Maybelline knows how to create a good mascara. Although I have always been a Colossal gal, I was looking to switch things up when I heard Zoella mention the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara in her Insta Story. If you hear the queen of makeup showering so much love on a product, you have to buy it right? So, here are my two cents about this mascara.

Maybelline New York Lash Sensational Mascara ReviewThe first thing about this product that took me by surprise was the packaging, I wasn’t expecting it to be so heavy and sturdy, which gives it the look of a high-end mascara. The pink body with the black print looks quite sophisticated when compared to the packaging of most of the Maybelline eye products. It has some sort of a princess element to it, in my opinion, or maybe I just haven’t had enough sleep lately 😛

Maybelline New York Lash Sensational Packaging Brush ReviewComing to the formula of the product, it is slightly liquidy and less clumpy compared to the Colossal mascaras. It is more of a lengthening mascara than a volumising one, although layering the product will give you substantial volume too, without your lashes looking too fake. I feel that the brush of this product is the shining star, it has thin bristles that really get to the roots of all the lashes and provide even coverage throughout. You will like this brush if you do not like the thicker variants and want something more suitable for a precise application.

Maybelline New York Lash Sensational Eye Swatches Try On Review

Due to my sensitive eyes, I went for the non-waterproof version and the picture above shows the result with just one coat. This variant of the mascara comes off very easily with water but stays on all day long otherwise. For a drugstore mascara priced at INR 500, I feel that the performance of this product is fantastic.  I will recommend wearing one coat for a regular day and 2-3 coats for a special event. If short eyelashes are your primary concern then this mascara is the perfect choice for you!

Maybelline Super Stay 7 Day Gel Nail Color – Rose Fuchsia | Review + Swatches

I have already raved enough about the Maybelline Super Stay 7 Days Gel Nail Color on this blog but I recently picked up another shade and instantly fell in love with it. I went for the shade #180 Rose Fuchsia/Rosy Pink, which is a gorgeous color for spring and summer.

The shade looks like a fuchsia pink in white light and looks more like a reddish pink in yellow light. I feel that this color is much more wearable than a bright red yet vibrant enough to make a statement. Also, fuchsia is one shade that looks very flattering on almost all Indian skin tones.

The best thing about this formula is that it stays on the nails for up to 10 days without chipping. It provides an opaque color in a single coat, but I use two coats out of habit. The formula also has just the right amount of shine for me.

These nail polishes are priced at INR 325 but you can grab them for around INR 260 during the sales on beauty websites. Trust me, once you try out this formulation you will not like any other nail paint. Their longevity makes them totally worth the money because they give the finish of a gel manicure!

Maybelline Color Sensational Diamond Eye Shadows in Topaz Gold | Review + Swatches

When it comes to eyeshadows for beginners, Maybelline has a strong game. This Maybelline Color Sensational Diamonds Eye Shadow Palette is the only eye shadow palette you need to create basic daytime and nighttime looks. The shade of this palette is Topaz Gold and it contains a collection of golden and warm brown colors. There are 3 other palettes available in this range but I think that the shades of this one are the most flattering for Indian skin tones.

IMG_8487This tiny palette contains 5 shades, a light highlight shade, another shiny highlight shade, a golden brown, a deep brown, and a matte black. All the shades except the black one are shimmery. I am very happy that this palette includes a matte black color because I feel that a matte black is perfect for a smoky eye. The colors are a bit powdery but do apply quite evenly on the eyes. The pigmentation of all the colors except the lightest one is quite good but not so intense that you cannot blend your mistakes. The lightest color is a dud in my opinion because it doesn’t really show up on my skin.

The packaging of this eye shadow palette is very cute. You can easily fit it into your pocket. It also comes with a brush which is pretty useless, as is the case with most brushes that come with eye shadows. I would recommend using a wet brush or your fingers to apply these eye shadows, for the maximum color payoff.

This eye shadow palette is priced at INR 575, which is incredibly reasonable for 5 shades (4 of which are amazing). I could not do an eye look with this palette because my eyes are protesting these days but they pretty much swatch the same on the hand. This is one basic eyeshadow palette that can help you create so many different looks! Highly recommended for those on a budget or those who simply choose not to spend too much on makeup.

2 Minute Eye Makeup For Beginners

If you want to keep only one eyeshadow in your makeup collection then go for a brownish golden shade. This color is the most flattering on all skin tones and can be applied all over the lid for a simple eye makeup look. Here is a look that I created in less than 2 minutes, using only two products, a bronze eyeshadow and an eyeliner.

This look is so simple yet versatile. You can wear it to work or even to a party with a nice lipstick. If you have sensitive eyes or do not like shimmer in general then you can opt for a matte brown or bronze shade instead. However, I personally prefer some subtle shimmer.

I used the Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in the shade 25 Bad To The Bronze for this look. This eyeshadow has been a favorite of beauty bloggers for several years. It comes in a pot full of almost solid, cream eyeshadow that blends beautifully with the fingers. It sticks to the lids and does not budge all day, no primer needed. You can use it on its own all over the lid or can also use it as a base color for more elaborate looks.

I highly recommend investing in a pigmented cream eyeshadow that does not require any fancy tools for application. Just add a touch of eyeliner and your makeup will look so put together without requiring any effort at all. This is my trick for the hectic days when I can’t spend more than 5 minutes in getting ready.

I hope that this makeup tip was useful. Buy the Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in Bad To The Bronze here.

Bold Party Makeup using Red Eye Shadow | Tutorial

Hey, guys. I had recently posted about the monochromatic makeup trend and had asked you if you would like to see a makeup look with red eye shadow. A bunch of you said that you would be interested in such a look, so I created it! Here is my red themed monochromatic makeup look, be warned that it is not for daily wear and possibly not for the faint hearted 😛

I do not own a pure red eyeshadow, therefore I used a red lipstick as my eye base for this look. I went with the Maybelline Color Show Lipstick in the shade Big Apple Red and blended the color all over my lids. This acted as a base color and a primer too, thanks to its stickiness. Next, I softened the red by adding the golden shade from the Maybelline Color Sensational eye shadow palette in Topaz Gold to my inner corners and the brownish shade on my outer corners. I also used the white shade underneath my eyebrows to make them pop. Lots of blending, a bold black liner, two coats of mascara, and voila the eyelids are done! I wanted to create a more dramatic look, therefore I used the brown eyeshadow and the red lipstick underneath my waterline too and smudged it out a little bit. You can skip this step if you want a less edgy look. Here are all the products that I used for my eye makeup.

As the eye makeup is quite fierce looking, I did not go for a bright red lipstick but a reddish nude color instead. The Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in the shade 122 Stylish is a perfect red based nude that goes with the monochromatic theme without looking too over the top.

Here is another picture of the final look. Remember that you can easily recreate the makeup looks that you see on the internet with products that you have at hand. There is no need to invest in a red eye shadow for a makeup look that you will sport only once a year. Bronzers, blushers, and lipsticks can all work as eye shadows if you just blend them properly.

IMG_7571 - Copy.JPG

I would reserve this look only for parties, however, you can replace the red color with a peachy coral shade for a summery look that is much more wearable. Just play around with colors and let your imagination go wild!

I hope that you liked this unusual look. Here are a few links to purchase the products that I used:

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in #20 Sand | Review

I am late to the Maybelline Fit Me party because I have always been a Loreal girl, but now that I am here I might be converting slowly! I purchased the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in the shade #20 Sand several months ago but unfortunately, the shade was too light for me, so I shoved it to the back of my makeup drawer. However, I have recently been using it for brightening up my under eye area and also under my foundation to cover some dark blemishes and I must say that I am really enjoying the product now.

The concealer comes in a thin tube with a doe foot applicator that allows precise application. The formula is creamy and quite blendable and provides medium to full coverage. The texture is light and the product does not crease even after 8 hours of wear.

The best thing about the product is that it is quite affordable for the quality. The concealer is priced at INR 500 for a 6.8 ml tube, which is almost half the price of my favorite Loreal True Match Concealer! Although I feel that the Loreal concealer is a little more blendable and buildable, but for daily wear, I will most probably switch to this one because it is almost as good yet so much cheaper.

The only con of this product is that the shade range is quite limited. There are only 3 shades in the range with Sand being the medium shade. I will be purchasing the dark shade to wear on top of my foundation because clearly, this one is too light for that. It would be great if Maybelline could introduce at least 2 more shades in this range but if you find a shade that works for you then this product is definitely a keeper.

Buy it here for INR 400 only!
