The Sugar Nothing Else Matter Lipsticks have been around for quite some time, but I got around to trying them only recently and have been completely bowled over by the formula and the shades. Here is my review of these matte lipsticks along with swatches of some of my favourite shades from the range.
I love the soft feel of velvet, therefore as soon as I noticed the Maybelline Color Sensational Velvet Matte Lipsticks on Nykaa, I added one to my cart. I went for the shade Flaming Fuchsia (MAT10), which in my opinion is a gorgeous tulip pink shade. The formula, however, is another story altogether.
The texture of this product is light and smooth. It glides on the lips to provide a satin finish that does have a unique softness to it, doing complete justice to the Velvet in the name. It is very hydrating but tends to slide around on the lips. It does last for around five hours but you will notice that it collects inside the creases and gives a very patchy finish. The pigmentation is pretty good but not completely opaque, and a few imperfections are visible through the color. Reapplication is also a little difficult due to the slippery nature of the formula.
Personally, I am not a huge fan of the formula because it gives an uneven finish. However, if you are able to look past that then the color is extremely stunning and you will enjoy the texture of this product. Priced at INR 475, the product comes in a cute 5ml packaging with a doe foot applicator. If you want a moisturizing lip color that has a semi-matte finish then you can buy this one but if you want a perfect matte liquid lipstick then give this one a pass.
I hope this review was helpful. You can buy this lip color here.
In the recent months, Nykaa has really been raising the bar for beauty products in India. What started out as a humble online portal for buying makeup has now become an exclusive doorway that has brought various international brands to the country. Not just that, Nykaa has also released their own range of beauty products, and boy, they certainly take their makeup seriously. I have already raved about their gorgeous nail paints in my previous posts, so today I will talk about their So Matte Lipstick in the shade 16M Spiced Cabernet.
It is unbelievable that such a great product is available at an extremely affordable price of INR 399. Nykaa has successfully recreated high-end quality at drugstore prices. Even the matte black square packaging with magnetic closure is something new for Indian brands and reminiscent of luxury products.
The formula is a comfortable, creamy matte that stays on the lips all day long without drying them out. It fades a little gradually but does not exaggerate cracks or creases in the least. I usually do not wear dark, vampy colors on my lips but fell in love with this shade. I would describe it as a warm brownish maroon that does not look too vampy and accentuates winter outfits really well.
I will definitely purchase more lip products from this brand because their recent release of nude shades literally has me drooling!
P.S. – This is not a sponsored post, just genuine love for a great brand that has evolved right in front of my eyes 🙂
Matte pink lips are probably one of the most popular looks for daily wear, they complement most outfits and are work appropriate too. The Revlon Colorbust Matte Balm in the shade Elusive provides the perfect pink matte finish to the lips without being too uncomfortable to wear.
The product is marketed as a matte balm, which means that it is smoother and more moisturizing than a matte lipstick. The balm has a minty scent as well as a slight tingling sensation on the lips, quite like lip plumping products although it doesn’t make my lips any fuller. Do not be fooled by the word “balm” because, unlike most balms, this product provides great color payoff which is completely opaque in one swipe. The shade Elusive is a pretty blue toned pink which is a bit too light for my medium skin tone but would look amazing on lighter skin tones in my opinion. Be wary of the fact that the color does look darker in the packaging as compared to on the lips.
Personally, I find this formula to be very unforgiving when it comes to pigmented or chapped lips, it exaggerates all the lines and cracks on my lips :(. I recommend scrubbing and moisturizing your lips before applying this product so as to prevent creasing. The color lasts on my lips for a good 4-5 hours and does not transfer much on eating or drinking. Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms are available in 8 different shades in India which are all perfect for different Indian skin tones. A 2.7 gm crayon is available for INR 950 which I feel is a good price for a matte lip product and I would suggest giving this range a shot.
