Kanai Organics Nail Paint | Review and Swatches

Have you ever sat and counted the number of objects your fingertips touch in a day? Not only do your fingers touch your food, face and clothes, if you have a baby in the house then your fingers touch your baby too. This is why a non-toxic nail paint is the need of the hour, and Kanai Organics has fulfilled this with their range of “8 Free” Nail Paints. These nail paints do not contain the most common toxic elements present in most nail polish formulas, namely Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Toluene, Xylene, DBP, Camphor, Ethyl Tosylamide, and TPHP.

Kanai Organics Nail Paint | Review and Swatches

Before I get into reviewing the colours and the formula, here is a word about toxic nail paints by the brand itself-

“Studies have shown that the body can absorb traces of chemicals applied on nails, with ingredients like Formaldehyde (used as a nail hardener) being a proven carcinogen. Triphenyl phosphate (TPHP) is known to be a hormone disruptor (on prolonged exposure) while dibutyl phthalate (DBP) has been linked to reproductive abnormalities. At Kanai, we remain committed to the ‘detoxification’ of products and are proud to say that none of our nail paints are made with this toxic trio and are 100% vegan and cruelty-free. Now available in India and soon to be launched globally, you can now enjoy your favourite colour varnish without worrying about its effects on your health.”

Kanai Organics Nail Paint | Review and Swatches
Fuchsia

The Kanai Organics Nail Paints come in a range of 6 shades – Bubblegum (A bright pink), Fuchsia (A Neon Fuchsia), White (No explanation needed :P), Kanai Blue (Blue like the brand’s logo), Pienk (A pretty floral pink), and Camellia (A baby pink). These nail paints come in 11ml bottles with a thick brush that covers the entire nail in a couple of strokes. They are priced at INR 450 each, which is undoubtedly on the expensive side, but the formula somehow justifies the price for me.

Not only are these nail paints non-toxic, they also have a very quick-drying formula which dries up completely within a minute or two and the pigmentation provides an opaque semi-matte finish in 2-3 coats. They last for a good 5 days on the nails with minimal chipping and can be removed effortlessly without any stain left behind on the nails. They also do not have the strong chemical scent that many nail polishes possess. All the shades are beautiful feminine colours that are true to how they look in the bottle, but the pastel shades are my personal favourites from the range as they add a muted pop to the fingertips.

Kanai Organics Nail Paint | Review and Swatches
Camellia

Overall, I have nothing negative to say about this range of nail paints and hope that they bring out more shades in the future. The price is a little steep, but if you want something truly non-toxic and safe for your skin then Kanai Organics is a brand that you can blindly trust. You must try at least one shade from the brand, I am sure you will fall in love!

Makeup Revolution Conceal And Define Concealer – C9 | Review and Swatches

When the Tarte Shape Tape Concealers hit the market, everybody went gaga over them. Then, in true Makeup Revolution style, the brand released their Conceal and Define Concealers, which are supposed to be dupes of the beloved Shape Tapes. While I haven’t tried the Tarte Shape Tape Concealers yet, I did purchase the Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer from Nykaa.com a while back and here is what I think about it.

Makeup Revolution Conceal And Define Concealer - C9 | Review and SwatchesThe Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer comes in a beautiful rose gold packaging and the tube is made of thick and sturdy clear plastic which gives it a very luxurious feel. The wand is a massive doe-shaped one that picks up enough product for the entire face in one go. Personally, I would have preferred a smaller wand to have more control over the areas I want to cover and the amount of product that I want to use, but this wand works too. The formula is creamy yet extremely blendable and is highly pigmented. It provides medium to full coverage in 1-2 layers and does not crease under my eyes, which is usually my biggest problem area.

Shadewise, Makeup Revolution has done a good job and there are 15 shades available on Nykaa. Unfortunately, the yellow toned medium shade that I was looking for (C8) was out of stock on the website, so I went with the peachy toned medium shade (C9) instead. This particular shade is a little too light for my skintone but it does brighten my under eye area beautifully, I can also use it to cover up my blemishes provided I use a bronzer and the right shade of foundation over it. I would definitely love to pick up my exact match in this range for my blemishes next.

Makeup Revolution Conceal And Define Concealer - C9 | Review and Swatches

Overall, I love the pigmentation, blendability and light-weight texture of the concealer despite the full coverage that it offers. The price point of INR 695 feels pretty justified considering the quality and the stunning packaging. I will definitely be playing with more shades from the range soon and will try and compare it to the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer as well to let you know whether it is a worthy dupe or not. For now, I will just say that this is a great concealer indeed and is definitely worth the buy!

Nykaa Skingenius Sculpting & Hydrating Foundation | Review

Guest post by Pooja

A warm welcome to you to my post!
Whether you are a beauty pro or a beginner or even a beauty enthusiast, the perfect base is the goal you desire. And no brownie points for guessing what you need for a perfect base, a foundation!!!!. Today’s post is about a foundation that has been in the market for a while now and I have taken my own sweet time to test this one so that I could present a view on it.

I am talking about the Nykaa Skingenius Sculpting & Hydrating foundation. It’s a
liquid foundation with impressive ingredients and a claim which is rarely heard of. It
claims that once applied it will adapt to your closest skin colour, it’s basically to
make online shopping easier as choosing your foundation colour online can be even more difficult then pleasing Gods. And oh its formulated in Italy.

The other claims made by Nykaa are:
-Weightless texture
-Luxurious long wear formula
-It melts seamlessly into your skin and hydrates your skin with its Polyfit technology
and Hyaluronic acid (the impressive ingredient I was talking about).
-It stays true to its colour and also the sun filters shield your complexion all day long.
-It covers imperfections virtually.
-It gives a radiant lit-from-within glow.

Nykaa Skingenius Sculpting & Hydrating Foundation | Review

Since it’s a base makeup product, I have laid down few criteria to explain how it
fared and on what parameters I tested it. Let’s begin:

Availability: It’s easily available on Nykaa’s website and in Nykaa stores (which are
located in a majority of the Metro cities). In short, it’s presence is good.
Rating: 10/10

Packaging: It is housed in a small cardboard packaging with a vibrant pink
colour, just like other Nykaa products. Each and every detail about the foundation is stated on the packaging (the full list of ingredients is mentioned). The bottle of foundation is that of plastic and is tiny miny and slim containing a net quantity of 30ml. It has a nozzle to pour out the foundation (I mean no fancy dropper or a convenient pump) but it is not super inconvenient to use. I would say its travel friendly and also easy to carry around in your handbag. One drawback I find is that the bottle of foundation doesn’t state what shade it is, only the outer packaging mentions it (so you will have to memorize either the shade number or the shade name.)
Rating: 7/10.

Pricing: The 30 ml bottle costs Rs 575 but you can pick it up during discounts. (Who doesn’t like saving some bucks).
Rating: 6/10

Nykaa Skingenius Sculpting & Hydrating Foundation | Review

Shade range: It has 5 shades to offer. Which I think is not enough to cater to all Indian
skin tones. I wish they introduce some more shades to their range. I picked up shade
02 Almond Beige, which would suit fair to medium skin tones, and it has a mild yellow
undertone.
Rating: 6/10

Texture: Cream like, not very liquidy or solid, just perfect. It blends seamlessly into
the skin (one of the claims proves to be true). It has a bit of a chemical fragrance
which fades away gradually but could be an issue if you are sensitive to such strong
fragrances.

Nykaa Skingenius Sculpting & Hydrating Foundation | Review

Coverage: The foundation offers a light to medium coverage. Now, this would be a personal preference, if you like your foundation to be matte and full coverage – you might end up disliking it or not liking it much. But if you are someone like me who likes a
dewy finish and a medium coverage that doesn’t give a made-up look, this foundation
is made for you. You can use it on a daily basis, just remember to use a matte primer
and a compact or a translucent powder with it. It definitely gives the face a radiant glow. Since it’s a medium coverage foundation it won’t hide all your spots and blemishes, you will have to cover that up with the help of a concealer. It does provide an even skin tone though. The formula does not feel heavy on the skin but it does feel sticky at
times. So if you are an oily skinned girl I suggest you stay away from this one, even a
combination skin type person will find it a little sticky but again if topped up with a
compact it will be fine. My other observation is that during the Monsoon it makes
your face a little more sticky than usual. However, for dry skin girls this is a God sent
product and it won’t settle in your dry patches (if you moisturise well). Plus it will
give you a beautiful and a subtle glow.
Rating: 7.5/10

Lasting Power: It lasts upto 5-6 hours if set properly.
Rating: 8/10

IMG_4806.JPG

Lastly, I would say it’s a perfect foundation for daily use and is more of a BB cream with
a slightly high coverage. Do I recommend it? Just keep your skin type in mind – if you have dry skin then this is a must-have for you.
I hope you liked the review!

Wet n Wild Foundation Brush | Review

Guest post by Pooja.

Hello to all the beautiful souls out there!

Whether you are a makeup beginner or a pro, this makeup tool is the basic requirement in your kit. Yes, today I will be talking about a foundation brush from the brand Wet n Wild. It’s a flat top foundation brush and it’s in the affordable range. But let’s see whether it’s worth it or not.

Wet n Wild Foundation Brush | Review

So, let’s start with the packaging it comes in – a simple black plastic packaging. Nothing fancy or impressive, just the basic stuff. As it is a flat top brush, my only concern is that the packaging is kinda not appropriate as it looked disshaped when it arrived. The back mentions all the details about the brush. I would rate a 3/10 for the packaging.

Diving further in the review, I was super excited when I came to know that Wet n Wild is launching in India because each and every beauty blogger, Youtuber and beauty enthusiast couldn’t stop praising this affordable and cruelty-free brand. Also, the most exciting part was the beauty tools which they had to offer for a very low price compared to other branded brushes.

I ordered it through Nykaa, but the online presence of Wet n Wild has increased now and it’s available on HOKmakeup and also on Purplle.com.

Coming to the price point, it’s pretty affordable and retails for INR 299 (you might get it -for a discount on other sites or even on Nykaa during sale season.) – Price Rating: 9/10

Wet n Wild Foundation Brush | Review

I am jumping straight to the cons now:

-The bristles are uneven.

-It’s a little rough at first.

-Doesn’t work with all foundations.

-Gives a streaky finish.

-Absorbs the product (in this aspect it’s like a beauty blender)

-Doesn’t really push the foundation into the skin, gives a very made up or an artificial finish.

-Minimises the coverage of the foundation. (Yes, opposite to what the brush is supposed to do)

-I personally do not like the way it’s not stiff while blending the foundation on the skin.

Yup, so many cons. I have tried to make it work in every way possible, but have failed. This is how it is with different types of foundation:

Liquid foundation- Gives a streaky finish. You will have to put in a lot of effort blend with this one.

Cream foundation- It leaves patches on the skin, blends unevenly.

Compacts- It picks up a good amount of product but doesn’t deposit or apply it to the face, you will have to go back into the pan several times.

Talking about the Pros of the tool:

-Affordable

-It becomes really soft after one wash.

-It didn’t shred any bristles on washing.

And, that’s all!!!

Overall Rating: 3/10

Wet n Wild Foundation Brush | Review

Shocker right? It gave me a shock too as I had heard many praises about this one.

Not recommending this one, rather save and buy a PAC brush.

Until the next post, Ciao!!

Maybelline Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara | Review

So it had been a moment and a half since I last tried a new mascara, and while I tried and tried to go for a brand other than my trusty Maybelline this time, I ended up adding the Maybelline Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara to my cart. To be completely honest, what drew me towards this mascara was its red and black packaging, and I did not read even a single review before purchasing this product because I know that Maybelline knows its mascaras. Read on to find out whether the gamble paid off!

Maybelline Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara | Review

Ok, so the wand of this mascara has pretty short and stubby bristles which form a cup shape at the bottom to hold more product and to reach the very roots of the lashes with ease. I don’t know whether there is any push-up drama involved or not but this mascara gives a lot of lengthening drama in just one coat! It literally doubles the length of the lashes! However, if you want extra volume then you need to go in with 2-3 coats, but things may get a bit clumpy if you don’t brush out and separate the lashes with the wand while application. I personally love to go in with 2 coats which leave my lashes extra long and slightly more voluminous, without looking too over the top. The wand works well on the lower lashes too and separates them really well without making them clumpy. Also, I went for the non-waterproof formula because I don’t like tugging at my lashes to remove waterproof mascara, and this formula lasts all day on my lashes without crumbling or fading away.

Maybelline Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara | Review

Maybelline Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara | Review

Overall, this product does have drama and some may find it a little bit too much for daily wear (but I don’t). None of the Maybelline mascaras have disappointed me till date and I am happy to report that this one is no exception! At INR 550, it is a little bit pricier than some of the other mascaras from Maybelline, but I feel that this one is excellent for those who want slightly thicker and much longer upper and lower lashes. If you are in the market for a new mascara then you must try this gem out!

The Crazy Makeup Lady

Hello folks! Since I do not have a product review for you today, I decided to share a crazy makeup look that I created a few days ago. This is definitely not a wearable look, but for me, makeup is also a form of creative expression. Let me know how you like this colorful look in the comments below. Also, do you also ever go crazy with your makeup?

Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk | Review

Remember the good old days of cleansing milk? Back when there were no micellar waters or cleansing balms to take our makeup off in one swipe? Those were the days when double cleansing was unheard of and a makeup wipe was hard to come by in a supermarket. With the advent of these products and waterproof makeup, the trusty cleansing milks lost their sheen and were pushed to the back of many a makeup closet, and I must confess, I purchased the Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk primarily for nostalgic reasons. While it is an absolute joy to relive a teenage memory, here is how the product fared in other departments.

Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk | Review

The Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk is a rich milky cream with the classic Nivea scent that I adore. It removes light weight makeup quite easily while being extremely nourishing and hydrating – I can actually feel that my skin is plumper and softer just after using this product. However, since I always wash my face with a cleanser after using this cleansing milk, I am not sure how much I actually benefit from its nourishing properties, although my skin does feel more moisturised than usual.

Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk | Review

When it comes to removing waterproof makeup, this cleansing milk does not fare so well, especially with waterproof mascara, eyeliner and liquid lipsticks. Personally, I reserve this for the days when I am wearing less or no makeup, because it also removes the dirt and grease from the skin even when there is no makeup on it. I love its creamy texture on the skin and the fact that is so very gentle, and no, it does not sting the eyes either!

Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk | Review

Overall, the Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk is a good option for those who wear light to minimal makeup on a daily basis. It can also be a good first cleanse of the makeup removal regimen for those who prefer heavier/long-wearing makeup. An excellent cleansing milk for all skin types, I would particularly recommend this one to those with sensitive skin.

Sugar Never Say Dry Creme Lipstick | Review and Swatches

Matte lipsticks are definitely my jam but sometimes my lips need something a little more hydrating, which is why I recently picked up 2 shades from the Sugar Never Say Dry Creme Lipstick Collection. I went for the shades 06 Raisin Helen and 07 Mauve Actually, and here is what I think about these lippies.

IMG_1736.JPG

The formula of the Sugar Never Say Dry Creme Lipsticks is super creamy, soft, and intensely pigmented. It glides on the lips and provides even pigmentation in one swipe. The lipsticks have a slight sheen to them but are not too glossy and do not contain any shimmer. They are pretty buttery, and while they do not slide too much on the lips, application will be a little easier if you use a liner first.

IMG_1719

The shade Raisin Helen is a beautiful yellow-toned brown which will be a nice deep nude for most Indian skin tones. It is warm toned without being rusty and is a great alternative to a pinky nude. On the other hand, the shade Mauve Actually is a much bolder colour which is a deep mauve, almost like a toned down version of a plum shade. This shade too will suit all Indian skin tones but will look better for an outing or special occasion than for daily wear.

IMG_1728

IMG_1731

Since the formula is not matte, it is obviously not super long-lasting, but it does stay put on the lips for a good 4-5 hours if you do not eat anything. It transfers while eating but fades pretty gracefully, leaving a light wash of colour behind. Also, my lips feel super nourished when I use these lipsticks, so I do not mind reapplying them every 4 hours or so. Priced at INR 499, these lipsticks are quite good for the price and the quality is really impressive, so do check out the shade range of this collection if you are on the hunt for creamy lipsticks.

Sugar Tip Tac Toe – Tan About Town Nail Lacquer | Review and Swatches

If nude nail paints are your jam then this post is meant for you! I recently tried out the Sugar Tip Tac Toe Nail Lacquer in the extremely unique shade – Tan About Town (47) and have been going gaga over it. Read on to find out more about this beautiful matte brown shade.

Sugar Tip Tac Toe - Tan About Town Nail Lacquer | Review and Swatches

Tan About Town is a gorgeous brown nude for medium to dark Indian skin tones that will not wash you out. It has an autumny vibe to it but I love it for the summer too. What is unique about this shade is that it is completely matte but has some extremely fine shimmer particles embedded throughout the formula (hence the description metallic matte) that add another dimension to the nails, I have never seen this in a matte polish before. The yellow toned brown is a gorgeous shade that would go with almost any outfit for any occasion and is a refreshing change from the usual pinky nudes.

Sugar Tip Tac Toe - Tan About Town Nail Lacquer | Review and Swatches

The formula is quite runny, which makes it extremely easy to apply on the nails in a single swipe. The pigmentation is also on point and provides opaque coverage with just one coat. Upon application, the nail paint initially looks glossy but dries down to a perfect matte within a few seconds. It is a quick dry formula which is ideal for when you have to be out of the house within minutes. I also love the wide brush which literally covers the entire nail in one stroke, making this product very easy to use. As for the longevity, the nail polish lasts for a decent 4-5 days if you do not perform heavy duty household chores.

Sugar Tip Tac Toe - Tan About Town Nail Lacquer | Review and Swatches

Overall, I am super pleased with this offbeat addition to my nail paint collection and do not regret paying INR 299 for the bottle (you can even make use of the various promotions that Sugar keeps running and get it for way cheaper). A spectacular shade for office wear as well as for night outs, I will highly recommend adding this to your cart.

Wet n Wild Fan Brush Review

Affordable brushes are hard to come by, and unfortunately, none of the inexpensive brushes from Indian brands that I have tried has given me the results that I expected. Fortunately, Wet n Wild is finally here in India, so I was excited to try out their affordable brushes because their makeup has never failed me. I picked up just the fan brush to try out before investing in their entire collection of brushes and here are my thoughts on this white beauty.

Wet n Wild Fan Brush Review

First of all, for the price of INR 299, the chic white design of the Wet n Wild brushes with the touch of pink at the ends is extremely classy. Also, these brushes are cruelty-free and made of synthetic fibers, which is commendable. I picked up the fan brush for applying the Wet n Wild Mega Glo Highlighting Powder in the shade Precious Petals, and this brush is excellent for the job.

Wet n Wild Fan Brush Review

This fan brush provides precise application of the highlighter to the high points of my face, and is thin enough for fine application right on my cheekbones and the bridge of the nose. The brush picks up the right amount of product so that you don’t have to go for multiple layers of the highlighter and it also doesn’t pick up too much product which may have you looking like a light bulb or killing your arm blending the highlight in.

Wet n Wild Fan Brush ReviewThe only complaint that I have about this product is that the fibers feel a little “syntheticy” aka hard on my face. However, this might be because it is a fan brush and my opinion might change after trying out their foundation and blush brushes. In any case, this is by far the best makeup brush that I have tried in its price range and I will definitely be checking out more from their collection and will keep you posted!

Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick – Nice To Fuchsia | Review and Swatches

It gives me much joy when a makeup product is affordable yet long-lasting and richly pigmented, and when this product is a liquid lipstick, I am definitely a happy camper. One such product is the Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick, I recently picked up the shade Nice to Fuchsia from Nykaa.com and have fallen head over heels in love with this lipstick. Read on to find out more about this product.

Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick - Nice To Fuchsia | Review and Swatches

Priced at INR 499, this liquid lipstick is an absolute steal! It has a creamy texture when applied which dries down to an almost pure matte finish yet does not feel uncomfortable on the lips at all. The formula is superbly pigmented and provides a rich fuchsia colour to the lips in one swipe and stays on literally all day. This product is waterproof and does not transfer at all, but if you eat oily food, it will transfer and move around a bit on the lips till it dries down again. Basically, it is perfect for the days when you want your makeup to last all day long without any touch-ups.

Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick - Nice To Fuchsia | Review and Swatches

The shade Nice to Fuchsia is a bright, bold pink with a bluish undertone that will flatter most Indian skin tones. However, if bright lips are not your cup of tea then I will recommend checking out other shades from this range which includes everything from stunning reds to subtle nudes. Also, this lipstick will not come off even at the end of the day with just water, so it is best to remove it with some oil-based makeup remover. However, despite its longevity, it does not leave my lips feeling chapped or flaky after several hours of wearing the product.

Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick - Nice To Fuchsia | Review and Swatches

Needless to say, I would highly highly recommend this liquid lipstick to everybody. It is hands down the most long-lasting and comfortable liquid lipstick formula that I have tried in a long time and you simply can’t go wrong with its drugstore price. If you are contemplating buying a new liquid lipstick this season then the Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick has to be it!

Wet n Wild Photo Focus Concealer – Light/Medium Beige | Review and Swatches

So Wet n Wild finally launched in India on Nykaa.com and I was a happy bear because this brand is known for their affordable yet high-quality products. One of the first products that I had my eyes set on was the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Concealer because even though I have almost completely ditched foundations for good, I still need some concealer for my persistent dark circles and the stubborn blemishes. This concealer is available in 6 different shades in India, which is quite good considering the limited shade range of most Indian concealers. I picked up the shade Light/Medium Beige as a gamble, based on the swatches I could find online, and here are my thoughts on the product.

Wet n Wild Photo Focus Concealer - Light/Medium Beige | Review and Swatches

The Wet n Wild Photo Focus Concealer has a creamy consistency and is slightly thicker than the Maybelline Fit Me and Loreal True Match concealers. The shade Light/Medium Beige has a slightly yellow undertone, which is suitable for Indian skin tones. Personally, I prefer my concealers to be slightly thinner/runnier than this one but despite being on the thicker slight, this product blends with ease and is not cakey at all. The shade that I picked is slightly light for my skin tone and works quite well for brightening my under eye area. It also works fine for my blemishes after some blending. I love the fact that the concealer does not crease under my eyes, which is something that I struggle with when using other concealers.

The concealer provides a light to medium buildable coverage and is more suitable for a natural makeup look. It will cover up light blemishes and pigmentation but may not be able to conceal acne scars or intense dark circles completely. However, if you pair it with a medium coverage foundation then you can easily achieve a full coverage look without your face looking overly done up or cakey. I would also like to give a special mention to the doe foot applicator that picks up just the right amount of product and minimizes any wastage, unlike some of the other liquid concealers in the market. Also, Wet n Wild is a cruelty-free brand which is definitely commendable.

Wet n Wild Photo Focus Concealer - Light/Medium Beige | Review and Swatches

March.jpg

Overall, this concealer has really impressed me for the price point of INR 399. It is light-weight but provides decent coverage and has a good lasting time of at least 5-6 hours. I will definitely be purchasing a slightly darker shade to mix and create the perfect shade for me and will recommend this to anyone who is looking for an affordable concealer for daily use.

P.S. For reference sake, I am the shade 25 in the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer.
