Easy Wedding Guest Makeup Looks

The wedding season is here and most of us have multiple invites for the month of December! In case you are short on time and are wondering how to quickly do your makeup for all of these weddings then here are a few looks as well as tips and tricks that you can try!

IMG_8553.JPG

Pink lips with subtle shimmery eyes are perfect for the daytime. Instead of using a darker shade in the crease, you can even go for a simple shimmery eyeshadow all over the lids with a lengthening mascara to add a wispy feel to your lashes. A green shimmery eyeshadow like the one in the picture will look great for the Mehendi function and you can switch it up with a gold/yellow eyeshadow for the Haldi function. You can skip on heavy contouring and can simply add a subtle blush and highlighter for that healthy glow!

img_8400-e1542960079860.jpg

For the night, slightly darker eyeshadows and dark red or fuchsia lips work the best with most Indian outfits. Just make sure that your lipstick and outfit do not clash with the colours that the bride is wearing, after all, all eyes should be on her! You can go for a winged liner if you are comfortable with that or can create a smokey eyeshadow look (these are easier with a deep brown shade instead of a black eyeshadow and look more guest-appropriate too!). You can go slightly heavier on the highlighter and can add a touch of bronzer for a more glam look, but remember, if your eye makeup is very heavy you can go for a subtler shade on the lips or vice-versa. Balance is key!

Be it day or night, a setting spray is a must to keep your makeup intact throughout the ceremonies. It is also wise to carry your lipstick with you so that you can gorge on the food without worrying about messing it up. Don’t experiment if you do not have enough time to get ready and stick to what you feel comfortable in 🙂

Hopefully, these tips will help you with your wedding guest looks for this season. If you have some interesting makeup hacks that work for you then do let me know in the comments below!

Ashtami Makeup Look | Pink Smoky Eye Makeup

Hello everyone! In continuation to yesterday’s post, today is Maha Ashtami, the 8th day of Durga Pooja and the color of the day is Pink! Since I have already published a few soft pink makeup looks on the blog already, today I created a more smoky look. So without much ado, here are a few pics of my Asthami look 🙂

Maha Saptami Makeup Look | Blue and Purple Eyeshadow

Subho Maha Saptami! I am too sick to write a lot today but basically, in India, we are celebrating the festival of Durga Puja at the moment and today is the 7th day or Maha Saptami. Each day of Durga Puja is associated with a different color and the color for Maha Saptami is Blue. So I decided to do a bright blue eye makeup today. I have used an electric blue on my lids and lower lash line and then toned it down with a plum-purple shade in my outer corners and crease. The eyeshadows I have used for the look are from a palette that I am currently testing out so there will be a full-fledged review later.

So without much ado, here are a few pictures of my makeup for the day.

Blue Heaven Artisto Matte Lip Crayon – Cocoa Mania | Review and Swatches

As I mentioned in a previous post, I received the Blue Heaven Artisto Matte Lip Crayon in my August ZoBag Mini and was pretty pleased with its quality. I promised you a separate post with lip swatches because I felt that this product deserved a post of its own. So here we are. There is also an interesting story about this particular shade which I will be sharing with you today.

Blue Heaven Artisto Matte Lip Crayon - Cocoa Mania | Review and Swatches

When I first got to know that the ZoBag Mini contained a Blue Heaven Lip Crayon, I was a bit sceptical about it. After all, the MRP of this lip crayon is INR 150 – how good could it really be for that price? However, this product really impressed me. It has a velvet matte texture that lasts on the lips for 4-5 hours and the formula is actually quite creamy! The product is not transfer proof and isn’t super pigmented in one swipe but once you build it up, it provides an even and smooth finish on the lips. I honestly didn’t expect this from a lip crayon that is so affordable. This is truly one of those no fuss lip products that you can apply in a jiffy and be certain that it looks good. Moreover, it did not dry out my lips at all and they feel quite hydrated when I wear this product.

Now for the funny story about the shade. ZoBag was offering 4 different shades of this lip crayon and I had the choice to pick one. The rest of the shades were from the red, pink, orange family which I already have plenty of in my collection. The only option left was Cocoa Mania, which seemed like a brown from the packaging, but I couldn’t find a decent swatch online so was quite unsure about the actual color. I took the risk anyway and decided to try out a shade that I didn’t already own, and I am glad I did! Cocoa Mania is a warm, rusty brown that will suit all Indian skin tones, especially if you have yellowish undertones in your complexion. It is light enough for daily wear but dark enough to build a heavy makeup look around. A perfect color for me, I must say. And you know what the happy coincidence was? I have been looking for a lip product that matches the rust eye shadow from the Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Contour Palette and hadn’t found any option in India. Imagine my joy when I realized that this lip color is an almost exact match for the eyeshadow! I am a huge fan of monochromatic makeup so I promptly paired the lip color and the eye shadow to create this rust themed makeup look.

I still can’t get over the fact that this lip crayon is so good despite being so affordable. At INR 150 you can’t really go wrong with any of the shades from this range (there are 12) but I will definitely vouch for Cocoa Mania. You can buy this product from the Blue Heaven website or can get this as a part of the August ZoBag Mini. I am super stoked about this wonderful discovery and will definitely be trying out more products from Blue Heaven Cosmetics soon and hopefully will be back with some more amazing recommendations!

Have you tried something from Blue Heaven Cosmetics? How did you find it? Let me know in the comments below!

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have already seen my Independence Day Makeup look, but in case you haven’t, here is a flashback just for you! Maybelline Color Show / Cheeky Glow Blush – Fresh Coral | Review and Swatches

You know that a product is a cult classic when a brand keeps manufacturing it for years and years and today I will talk about one such product. I am not a huge blush wearer but if there is one blush that I always swear by, it is the Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush in the shade Fresh Coral. I still have the old packaging of this product although it seems that it has now been rebranded and repackaged as the Maybelline Color Show Blush. The shades and the formula remain the same though, so my review holds true for both the Cheeky Glow and the Color Show versions (so much confusion though!).

Maybelline Color Show / Cheeky Glow Blush - Fresh Coral | Review and Swatches

The shade Fresh Coral is true to its name. It is a warm pinkish coral with muted orange undertones. I feel that this type of a coral shade suits Indian skin tones more than the true pinks. I use this color on my cheeks for a nice coral flush and sometimes mix it in with a bronzer to create a blush cum contour. I also use it on my eyes as an eye shadow that gives a nice feminine touch to my makeup.

The formula is a very soft powder that does not have much chalkiness to it. It blends like a dream on the skin and you can build up the color up to the desired pigmentation without your cheeks looking cakey. I love the super adorable and dinky packaging and would buy this product just for the cuteness factor although it performs really well too.

Here is a picture of me wearing this blush as an eyeshadow on the outer corners of my lids. The powder works really well with a foundation or concealer underneath and stays put all day long.

Soft Pink Makeup

This product is priced at INR 299 and is one of the most affordable and amazing blushes in the market. Its texture is perfect and you don’t really need anything more expensive unless you are on the hunt for a specific shade. The Maybelline Color Show Blushes are also available in two more shades, Peachy Sweetie, which is a cooler pink, and Creamy Cinnamon which has brown undertones. I am eyeing Creamy Cinnamon next to use as a contour (check out my Blush as a Contour post to find out how!) but if you are looking for a warmer pink blush then Fresh Coral will not disappoint!

I hope that this review was helpful. You can buy all the three shades of the Maybelline Color Show Blush here.

Blush As Contour? Beauty Trends Of 2017

I recently started a series of blog posts on the beauty trends of 2017 and you guys really seemed to like my post on the Bitten Lips trend. So, here I am with the second installment of the series and today we will talk about the dramatic trend of wearing blush as contour! This trend has been spotted not only on runways but also on the red carpet where some celebrities opted for a bright blush to contour their cheeks instead of the typical brownish bronze shade. Although this is one trend that is hard to sport in the day to day life, perhaps using a rose gold blush in small amounts instead of your standard bronzer can create a softer and more feminine look. For this post, however, I went all in and chose to go with a bright pink blush from my Makeup Revolution Protection Palette in the shade Medium.

IMG_0646-001.JPG

I went into my blush with a heavy hand because I wanted to create a very vibrant look. Creating this look is very simple, you basically apply your blush where you would normally apply your bronzer on your cheeks. If you are new at this, simply suck your cheeks in and add the color in the natural dent created in your cheeks. If you go for a deep colored blush then you will be able to achieve a similar chiseled finish as provided by a bronzer but the final look will be much quirkier.

IMG_0708-001.JPG

I opted for a deep pink lip and neutral eyes (a slightly dramatic liner though) but you can go all out and go for a purple eyeshadow to create a colorful extravaganza 😛 Afterall, this look is all about having some fun with colors. Also, please don’t mind my messy hair, I was in no mood to style them on a gloomy Monday morning!

IMG_0641-001.JPG

For the above picture, I blended the blush really well to create a more wearable look that you can flaunt outside the house. What remains is a soft wash of blush that accentuates the highlighter on the cheekbones really well. Definitely a winner for the days when you want a soft look that does not include any harsh contouring. I feel that this unique trend, if executed correctly, can help replace a bronzer during the spring months, for a more florals inspired pallet.

What do you think of this beauty trend? Would you be comfortable wearing a blush as a contour shade? Let me know in the comments below!!! ❤

How To Create The Bitten Lips Effect | Makeup Tutorial

When it comes to makeup, each year brings some unique trends and I thought of recreating a few of them for you. I am starting off this series of the hot makeup trends of 2017 with a tutorial on how to create the bitten lips effect. If you are not aware of this trend, it is basically a gradient of color created on the lips, with the center of the lips being the darkest and the outer boundaries being quite pale. This trend gives a natural flush to the lips, as opposed to applying a bold color all over them. Here are a few simple steps with the help of which you can recreate this trend at home using only two products.

Bitten Lips Makeup Tutorial Step

Step 1 – To make the color gradient more striking, you need to start with a pale base to work on. If you have naturally pale or light lips then you can skip this step but if you have darker or pigmented lips then apply a thin coat of concealer that matches the color of your skin. Place a few drops of concealer on the lips and gently pat them in with your fingers to get rid of any darkness.

Bitten Lips Makeup Tutorial Step

Step 2- Now, apply a dark pink or red lip color of your choice to the central portion of your lips. You can either choose a dark lip tint, a matte lipstick, or a lipliner for this step. Make sure that the formula does not dry down immediately and gives you some time to blend the color. I used the Wet n Wild Color Icon Lip Liner in the shade Berry Red for this step.

Bitten Lips Makeup Tutorial StepStep 3 – With the help of a cotton bud, gently spread the color outwards to create a natural gradient. You want to leave the center of the lips darker than the edges but make sure that the edges don’t look too pale. If you feel that the color is too dark then you can apply a dab of concealer to the edges to create the perfect contrast. And, there you go! Your bitten lips are ready! I would recommend pairing this lip look with nude makeup for a soft effect.

Bitten Lips Makeup Tutorial Step

Isn’t it amazing that you can create a look that has taken international runways by storm with just two affordable products? Do let me know if you try to recreate this look and share the pictures with me too 🙂 I will be back soon with my rendition of some of the other hot makeup trends from 2017!

Smoky Blue Summer Eye Makeup

I love a smoky eye but black and warm colors seem a little inappropriate for the hot summer months. This blue smoky eye makeup look is perfect to bring a bit of the ocean to your eyes.

IMG_7960

I call this my peacock eye makeup. The turquoise eyeshadow and the bright blue liner pair quite well together. This look is perfect for a pool party during the day and you can pair it with a bright lip to stand out at night.

IMG_7950-001.JPG

I used the Palladio Eyeshadow Quad in Blue Suede to create this look, but unfortunately, I think that this palette has been discontinued now. You can, however, use any light blue shade with a golden shimmer in it for the lid and smoke it out slightly with a darker blue shade. For both my lash lines, I used the Loreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner in the shade Cobalt Blue which I have previously reviewed here.

IMG_7987.JPG

Here is a picture of the eyeshadow quad in case you are able to find it online somewhere. All the colors are shimmery and really pigmented. I am quite sure though that you will be able to find similar colors from other brands too. As I always say, it is all about being creative with the products you have at hand!

I hope that you liked this look! Let me know in the comments below what is your favorite eyeshadow for summer 🙂

2 Minute Eye Makeup For Beginners

If you want to keep only one eyeshadow in your makeup collection then go for a brownish golden shade. This color is the most flattering on all skin tones and can be applied all over the lid for a simple eye makeup look. Here is a look that I created in less than 2 minutes, using only two products, a bronze eyeshadow and an eyeliner.

IMG_7875.JPG

This look is so simple yet versatile. You can wear it to work or even to a party with a nice lipstick. If you have sensitive eyes or do not like shimmer in general then you can opt for a matte brown or bronze shade instead. However, I personally prefer some subtle shimmer.

IMG_7881-001.JPG

I used the Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in the shade 25 Bad To The Bronze for this look. This eyeshadow has been a favorite of beauty bloggers for several years. It comes in a pot full of almost solid, cream eyeshadow that blends beautifully with the fingers. It sticks to the lids and does not budge all day, no primer needed. You can use it on its own all over the lid or can also use it as a base color for more elaborate looks.

IMG_7891.JPG

I highly recommend investing in a pigmented cream eyeshadow that does not require any fancy tools for application. Just add a touch of eyeliner and your makeup will look so put together without requiring any effort at all. This is my trick for the hectic days when I can’t spend more than 5 minutes in getting ready.

I hope that this makeup tip was useful. Buy the Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in Bad To The Bronze here.

Purple and Black Cut Crease Eye Makeup

I love my community of readers and really feel grateful for their wonderful ideas and recommendations for new blog posts. One of my readers from my blog on Niume recently suggested that I create a bold purple and black eye makeup look. This kind of a look is something that I wouldn’t normally wear but I love to explore things that are out of my comfort zone and challenge my creativity. So without much ado, here is the look that I created.

IMG_7775

This look might not be very dramatic for some of you but it is something that I would not normally create had it not been for this blog post. However, I was pretty pleased with the final result and I feel that it is quite edgy without being too over the top. For the right occasion, this makeup would look perfect with an all black ensemble.

IMG_7783

I used the crease and browbone shades from the Wet n Wild Petal Pusher palette for my upper lid and used the Loreal Paris Magique Eyeliner for the black cat flick. I added some of the color on my lower lash line as well and intensified it with the Maybelline Vivid and Smooth Liner in the shade Violet Pearl. On my lips, I wore the NYX Intense Butter Gloss in the shade Berry Strudel to stick to the purple theme. Few coats of your favorite mascara will bring this look together perfectly! It is quite an easy look to recreate and requires just a few products.

I hope that you liked this look, it is something different but isn’t makeup all about having fun? Do let me know if you have any other suggestions for a look that you want me to create because I am really enjoying working on your requests!

Bold Party Makeup using Red Eye Shadow | Tutorial

Hey, guys. I had recently posted about the monochromatic makeup trend and had asked you if you would like to see a makeup look with red eye shadow. A bunch of you said that you would be interested in such a look, so I created it! Here is my red themed monochromatic makeup look, be warned that it is not for daily wear and possibly not for the faint hearted 😛

IMG_7567.JPG

I do not own a pure red eyeshadow, therefore I used a red lipstick as my eye base for this look. I went with the Maybelline Color Show Lipstick in the shade Big Apple Red and blended the color all over my lids. This acted as a base color and a primer too, thanks to its stickiness. Next, I softened the red by adding the golden shade from the Maybelline Color Sensational eye shadow palette in Topaz Gold to my inner corners and the brownish shade on my outer corners. I also used the white shade underneath my eyebrows to make them pop. Lots of blending, a bold black liner, two coats of mascara, and voila the eyelids are done! I wanted to create a more dramatic look, therefore I used the brown eyeshadow and the red lipstick underneath my waterline too and smudged it out a little bit. You can skip this step if you want a less edgy look. Here are all the products that I used for my eye makeup.

IMG_7581.JPG

As the eye makeup is quite fierce looking, I did not go for a bright red lipstick but a reddish nude color instead. The Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in the shade 122 Stylish is a perfect red based nude that goes with the monochromatic theme without looking too over the top.

IMG_7582.JPG

Here is another picture of the final look. Remember that you can easily recreate the makeup looks that you see on the internet with products that you have at hand. There is no need to invest in a red eye shadow for a makeup look that you will sport only once a year. Bronzers, blushers, and lipsticks can all work as eye shadows if you just blend them properly.

IMG_7571 - Copy.JPG

I would reserve this look only for parties, however, you can replace the red color with a peachy coral shade for a summery look that is much more wearable. Just play around with colors and let your imagination go wild!

I hope that you liked this unusual look. Here are a few links to purchase the products that I used:
