The wedding season is here and most of us have multiple invites for the month of December! In case you are short on time and are wondering how to quickly do your makeup for all of these weddings then here are a few looks as well as tips and tricks that you can try!
Pink lips with subtle shimmery eyes are perfect for the daytime. Instead of using a darker shade in the crease, you can even go for a simple shimmery eyeshadow all over the lids with a lengthening mascara to add a wispy feel to your lashes. A green shimmery eyeshadow like the one in the picture will look great for the Mehendi function and you can switch it up with a gold/yellow eyeshadow for the Haldi function. You can skip on heavy contouring and can simply add a subtle blush and highlighter for that healthy glow!
For the night, slightly darker eyeshadows and dark red or fuchsia lips work the best with most Indian outfits. Just make sure that your lipstick and outfit do not clash with the colours that the bride is wearing, after all, all eyes should be on her! You can go for a winged liner if you are comfortable with that or can create a smokey eyeshadow look (these are easier with a deep brown shade instead of a black eyeshadow and look more guest-appropriate too!). You can go slightly heavier on the highlighter and can add a touch of bronzer for a more glam look, but remember, if your eye makeup is very heavy you can go for a subtler shade on the lips or vice-versa. Balance is key!
Be it day or night, a setting spray is a must to keep your makeup intact throughout the ceremonies. It is also wise to carry your lipstick with you so that you can gorge on the food without worrying about messing it up. Don’t experiment if you do not have enough time to get ready and stick to what you feel comfortable in 🙂
Hopefully, these tips will help you with your wedding guest looks for this season. If you have some interesting makeup hacks that work for you then do let me know in the comments below!
I love a smoky eye but black and warm colors seem a little inappropriate for the hot summer months. This blue smoky eye makeup look is perfect to bring a bit of the ocean to your eyes.
I call this my peacock eye makeup. The turquoise eyeshadow and the bright blue liner pair quite well together. This look is perfect for a pool party during the day and you can pair it with a bright lip to stand out at night.
I used the Palladio Eyeshadow Quad in Blue Suede to create this look, but unfortunately, I think that this palette has been discontinued now. You can, however, use any light blue shade with a golden shimmer in it for the lid and smoke it out slightly with a darker blue shade. For both my lash lines, I used the Loreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner in the shade Cobalt Blue which I have previously reviewed here.
Here is a picture of the eyeshadow quad in case you are able to find it online somewhere. All the colors are shimmery and really pigmented. I am quite sure though that you will be able to find similar colors from other brands too. As I always say, it is all about being creative with the products you have at hand!
I hope that you liked this look! Let me know in the comments below what is your favorite eyeshadow for summer 🙂

I love my community of readers and really feel grateful for their wonderful ideas and recommendations for new blog posts. One of my readers from my blog on Niume recently suggested that I create a bold purple and black eye makeup look. This kind of a look is something that I wouldn’t normally wear but I love to explore things that are out of my comfort zone and challenge my creativity. So without much ado, here is the look that I created.
This look might not be very dramatic for some of you but it is something that I would not normally create had it not been for this blog post. However, I was pretty pleased with the final result and I feel that it is quite edgy without being too over the top. For the right occasion, this makeup would look perfect with an all black ensemble.
I hope that you liked this look, it is something different but isn’t makeup all about having fun? Do let me know if you have any other suggestions for a look that you want me to create because I am really enjoying working on your requests!
A couple of you commented on my Valentine’s Day makeup post that you really liked the lip color, so I decided to write a dedicated post about it. I was wearing the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in the shade 225 Sultry, a perfect pink for Valentine’s Day.
I have already reviewed another shade from this range in a previous post but this particular shade looks much more flattering on a wider range of skin tones. Sultry has the minty smell and tingling sensation that is characteristic of this range but is more creamy and forgiving than the shade Elusive.
The color is a deep, dusty pink that is an almost nude pink for my skin tone. The fact that the formula lasts for at least 6 hours on the lips makes it ideal for when you are out and about. It is perfect for both work and play and pairs well with a wide selection of outfits. Bear in mind that this is a matte formula that demands moisturized and scrubbed lips to work its magic.
I must say that the folks at Revlon know how to get their lip products right. There is not one lip product from the brand that has disappointed me yet.
Grab this lip crayon for INR 950 to recreate this romantic look for Valentine’s Day. It is a must have color for the upcoming spring and summer months!
I try to keep my makeup as organized as possible and clean my makeup drawer from time to time. Sorting out your makeup storage area not only helps to keep things neat but also reminds you of all the stuff you have and what you need to buy (and not buy!). Here is a sneak peek into my makeup drawer.
I have organized all my lip products, eye makeup and face makeup in 3 separate shoe boxes. This helps me grab products quickly in the morning and the shoe boxes serve as very inexpensive storage options. The boxes can even be taped up securely when you move house, without any extra packing effort.
My hair pins and ties are in a few of the makeup bags that I receive from makeup subscription companies like FabBag, so they are almost free of cost as well. I make sure to have a few empty makeup pouches at an arm’s length, for throwing my favorite makeup into when I have to travel.
For my jewelry and other items, I retain small boxes from the packaging of the products that I purchase online. These boxes come in really handy for storing earrings and rings. Other than that, I have a few loose bottles and baubles stuffed in the crevices, because such is life. Overall I’m quite happy with my makeup drawer because it is reasonably neat and functionally efficient.
