After being thoroughly impressed with the WiseShe Contour and Powder Brush I finally picked up all the eyeshadow brushes from the brand as well. It is wonderful to see that an Indian brand, that too one started by a fellow blogger, has come up with brushes that are comparable in terms of quality to international brands. The makeup game in India is definitely changing for the better! Anyway, here is my detailed review of the WiseShe Eyeshadow Brushes after using them to create several eyeshadow looks.
The WiseShe Eyeshadow Brushes come in two different sets – a pair of crease blending brushes and a pair of flat eyeshadow brushes. Both the sets come in sturdy black cardboard boxes with foam padding inside. The brushes also have long black handles that provide a good grip for applying and blending eyeshadow precisely and effortlessly. All the brushes have densely packed bristles that pick up enough product to provide decent pigmentation in one go, and the bristles are soft enough to blend the products beautifully.
The crease brushes have rounded ends, and the bristles are slightly stiffer, which is perfect for getting deeper pigmentation in the crease and for creating precise cut crease looks. The flat brushes, on the other hand, are slightly softer, for a more blended look all over the lids. These flat brushes will also be perfect for creating halo looks. The Crease Brushes are currently available on Amazon for INR 650, and the Flat Brushes are available for INR 550. So for INR 1200, you can purchase all the brushes that you will need to create any eyeshadow look.
Overall, I am fully impressed with these eyeshadow brushes, just as much as I was with the contour brush. These brushes can be used for creating both simple and intricate eye makeup looks. Also, the quality is excellent and I am sure that these brushes will last me for several years. If you are in the market for some eyeshadow brushes then do grab these while they are still on discount on Amazon.
Makeup brushes for me are truly an investment because the right ones will last you for years and have the potential to make your face look flawless regardless of the brands of makeup products you use. This is why I am extremely wary of buying the generic makeup brushes available in stores and on Amazon, because streaky brush strokes, rough bristles and brush hair that shed all over the face are some of my biggest nightmares. While I largely invest only in Real Techniques and Zoeva brushes, my interest was piqued when I noticed the WiseShe brushes launched by Anamika, the blogger behind WiseShe. I picked up the WiseShe Cheek Contour and Powder Brush recently and here is what I think of it so far.
First of all, it is the little things that often show the quality of a product even before you start using it – in this case, it was the sturdy cardboard box with a velvet cushioning inside that made me feel that WiseShe is a brand that cares about its customers. The handle of the brush is beautifully crafted with a circular wooden pattern that somehow reminded me of the wands from Harry Potter 🙂 As for the bristles, they are synthetic ones and are SUPER soft to touch!
This brush with its extremely soft bristles is perfect for applying blush because it picks up a very small amount of powder that helps in giving a natural flush to the cheeks. It is also ideal for dusting off the setting powder after baking and can be used for contouring if you are looking for a natural shadow on your face as opposed to something intense. While my other contouring brushes pick up a lot more product, which helps in quickly creating a more pigmented look, blending in the colour takes a lot more effort with them, whereas this brush significantly reduces the blending time for me. Also, the long and sturdy handle makes the application of makeup fairly simple.
Available at a discounted price of INR 500 on Amazon, this brush is quite worth the money considering the price of brushes from international brands. I am eyeing the eye shadow brushes from the brand already and am hoping that they release a foundation brush soon too. If you are a beginner in makeup who is looking for a reliable, good quality brush or someone who just wants to expand their brush collection then picking up the WiseShe Cheek Contour and Powder Brush is a must!
If your high-quality makeup is still not able to provide you the flawless finish that you desire then chances are that this is due to the lack of good blending tools. A great makeup brush or sponge is absolutely essential for blending the product perfectly, to achieve a smooth finish. A poor quality makeup brush makes foundation look streaky and patchy, especially if it is a high coverage foundation with a thicker consistency. Eyeshadow will also sit oddly on the skin if not blended properly.
The sign of a good makeup brush is that it will not shed and will be soft enough to not leave marks of the brush strokes on the skin. My personal favorites are the brushes from Real Techniques and Zoeva. They may be a little expensive but, unlike makeup, will last for many years if you take good care of them and wash them regularly. This Real Techniques Mini Brush Trio was originally priced at INR 1100 but was heavily discounted on Amazon and ended up costing me only INR 500. The quality of the mini brushes is exactly the same as that of the original ones, only the handles are shorter. Those who want to find out what the fuss is all about can opt for this kind of a kit and I am sure that they will never look back.
