Loreal Paris UV Perfect Even Complexion SPF 50+ | Review

A good sunscreen is a must for everyone, whether they spend long hours in the sun or not. I have been quite lazy with my sunscreens in the past but this year I had resolved to use them daily and I am happy to report that I have been able to fulfill the resolution to a large extent. The primary reason why some people hate sunscreen is because it is an extra step in their skincare regimen and is often greasy, sticky, or does not sit well on the skin. For this reason, I have been opting for day creams that contain a fairly high SPF as well, and the Loreal Paris UV Perfect Even Complexion is one such product that I have recently added to my skincare stash.

Loreal Paris UV Perfect Even Complexion SPF 50+ | Review

This product is essentially a tinted moisturiser, with a very high SPF of 50+, and claims to provide protection against UV rays for up to 12 hours. I am not sure about the 12-hour claim but I am fairly certain that it is potent enough to protect you from the sun for a good 3-4 hours if you apply it right before heading out, which suits the requirements of most individuals. It is a very light and non-greasy moisturiser that provides mild hydration to the skin and is perfect for those with normal to oily skin. It is also tinted but the pigmentation is not intense at all and it won’t provide you much coverage. However, it does provide a glow to the face and reduces any redness by a small amount.

Loreal Paris UV Perfect Even Complexion SPF 50+ | Review

I like the nozzle dispenser, because it prevents the wastage of the product, and find the packaging pretty compact and cute. However, I do wish that the for the price of INR 550 for a 30ml bottle, this product contained a little more pigment. With the current intensity of the tint, only those with fairly clear skin can wear it on its own while those with pigmented or blemished skin will need to use a foundation or concealer on top if they want to cover up the spots.

After Blending

Overall, if you are on the hunt for a moisturiser with a high SPF then this product will definitely work for you. It also comes in a non-tinted variant in case you do not care for the tint. Even though the product is slightly pricey, the high SPF justifies the cost and I love that it is not heavy or greasy at all. This is the only non-matte sunscreen that blends well into my skin and I therefore recommend all of you to give it a shot.

L’Oreal Professionnel Liss Unlimited Shampoo | Review

Have you ever fallen for the recommendations offered to you by the hair stylist at your favorite salon? The sad thing is that while some hair stylists are really professional and helpful at providing great product suggestions, others simply publicize the recent products from their sponsors regardless of the actual needs of the client in question. A few months back, the Loreal Professionnel Liss Unlimited Shampoo was recommended to me by a hair stylist, and strangely enough, the same shampoo was also recommended by that salon to a friend who has drastically different hair from mine. Unfortunately, this shampoo did not benefit either of us and proved to be a huge waste of money. So, who is this shampoo really meant for? Read on to find out.

Loreal Professionnel Liss Unlimited Shampoo Review

The Liss Unlimited shampoo contains something called Keratinol Complex which is supposed to smoothen rebellious hair. Sounds great right? In a country like India, we all fight our humidity battles and need something to tame the frizziness of our hair. The downside is that while this shampoo does reduce frizziness quite effectively, it also makes the hair extremely greasy, not just at the roots but also throughout the lengths of the hair. I gave it a fair shot, tried extremely teeny tiny amounts of product, still the same result – super oily looking hair. This is one of those shampoos that does not lather much and has more of a creamy consistency, and although my hair does feel clean after using it, the product weighs down my mane in an unflattering manner. The shampoo is also not cheap (INR 575 for 250ml) and therefore I really regret buying it. Note to self – Never put blind faith in a hair stylist again.

Loreal Professionnel Liss Unlimited Shampoo Review

This product can be used as a once-a-week shampoo by those with extremely dry and rough hair but if you do not have fairly voluminous and wild hair, I would recommend you to save your money and skip this one. Meanwhile, I am struggling to find a way to use up this bottle as I do not like wasting products. Any suggestions on how I can put this shampoo to use? Let me know in the comments below!

Loreal Paris Base Magique Transforming Smoothing Primer | Review

A good foundation may cover up blemishes but what truly helps in achieving a flawless finish with makeup is a great primer. Primers not only extend the longevity of face makeup but also create a smooth canvas on the skin for the effortless application of foundation. Despite its numerous benefits, most women tend to skip this step on a day to day basis and directly apply foundation or a bb cream on top of moisturizer. This, however, could be a rookie mistake for an occasion when you want your makeup to last all day long and look beautifully blended. The Loreal Paris Base Magique Transforming Smoothing Primer is one product that can take your makeup to the next level for such special events.

Loreal Paris Base Magique Transforming Smoothing Primer ReviewThis primer comes in the form of a thick cream that needs to be rubbed between the fingers before applying to the face. It has a super smooth texture that glides on the skin and fills in the pores while adding a glow to the face. Post-application, the skin feels extremely smooth to touch and the surface looks more even. On a no makeup day, you can simply apply this primer on its own for a “my skin but better look”. On the other hand, if you wish to apply a foundation on top, you will notice that this primer enhances the coverage and wear time of the product and makes it adhere better to the skin.

Loreal Paris Base Magique Transforming Smoothing Primer ReviewComing to the cons, the product comes in a jar and dipping your fingers into a face product is never very hygienic, however, I can look past this because the consistency of this product is such that it cannot really be packaged in a tube. This primer also helps with oil control and keeps the skin non-greasy throughout the day but it may not suit dry skin and may exaggerate the dry patches on the face. Although this may be a con for many, it helps prevent my makeup from melting off my face during the hot and humid months.

Loreal Paris Base Magique Transforming Smoothing Primer ReviewFrom a price perspective, this primer is not the cheapest (INR 995 for 15ml) but I feel that it is worth the money because of the quality. Also, you only need a tiny bit of the product each day and this jar will last you a really long time. To conclude, this is definitely my favourite primer at the moment and I feel that all those with normal to oily skin will probably love the product as much as I do. When it comes to improving the texture of the skin, this primer is perhaps the next best thing to an effective skincare routine.

Loreal Tecni Art Volume Lift Hair Mousse | Review

Hair mousse is one product which is not that commonly used by Indian women, but if you have thin and wispy hair, it can be an absolute savior. I have been using the Loreal Professionnel Tecni Art Volume Lift Spray since the past few years and because many people have not talked about this product on the internet, I thought that I should share my two cents about it.

Loreal Professionnel Tecni Art Hair Spray Mousse

This root lifting spray comes in a spray can with a narrow nozzle and the consistency is that of a foamy mousse. As per the packaging, you are supposed to spray on the product directly at the roots, on shampooed and towel-dried hair and then style them using your fingers or a blow dryer. I personally prefer to spray some product onto my fingers and then apply it to my roots while lifting them upwards. This helps in adding some volume at the roots that lasts for a couple of days.

Loreal Professionnel Tecni Art Hair Spray Mousse

You can also use this product throughout the lengths of your wet hair and then leave them in braids overnight to get natural looking waves the next day. However, be careful with the amount of product you use. A little goes a long way and too much of the mousse can give a wet look to your hair. One small sphere of the product (the size of a ping pong ball) gives a stiff yet natural look to the roots so that they hold the hairstyle better and do not look limp.

Loreal Professionnel Tecni Art Hair Spray Mousse

A 250ml can of this product is priced at INR 775 on Amazon and you can also find it at some of the bigger drugstores in India. One can lasts a very long time and is, therefore, worth the price. I will recommend the Loreal Tecni Art Volume Lift Hair Mousse to all the ladies who have baby hair and flyaways that ruin any hairstyle with their fluffy appearance. This is a good buy for those with unmanageable hair but if you have naturally thick and sleek hair then this product might not be as suitable for you.

Loreal Paris True Match Powder – N4 Beige | Review and Swatches

I am a huge fan of loose powders because they blend so much better than powder compacts but carrying them in a handbag is a really bad idea and can end up being a messy affair. I do need to powder my nose throughout the day though, which is why I have to resort to throwing a powder compact into my purse. This pack of the Loreal Paris True Match powder has been with me for longer than I would like to admit, so let’s just quickly move on to its review 😛

Loreal Paris True Match Powder Beige Review

This product comes in a pretty sturdy packaging which has two compartments. The first compartment contains the powder compact while the second one has a mirror and an applicator. The mirror is quite great, to be honest, and is perfect for touch-ups on the go, however, the applicator fails to impress. It is a square piece of some sort of a fluffy material which wears down pretty quickly. It is also not suitable for applying this kind of a product because you will have to go over it with a fluffy brush for a non-streaky finish on the skin.

Loreal Paris True Match Powder Beige Review

As for the formula itself, it seems a little chalky while swatching but blends beautifully on the skin and provides a non-greasy, natural finish. It is decent at absorbing small amounts of oil but you will need to touch up more than once a day if you have very oily skin. I wouldn’t recommend piling on too much of the product in one go because it may start looking cakey. One thin layer of powder is best for a light coverage and a smooth finish.

Loreal Paris True Match Powder Beige Review

I went for the shade N4 Beige but I feel that it is a teeny bit light for me. It is a pure beige colour which will suit those who do not have a yellowish undertone to their skin. For me, I think that the shade W5 Golden Sand would have worked better but I haven’t used it yet so I can’t say for sure. With a decent amount of blending, I can get away with wearing N4 too because the product mixes in with my foundation.

Loreal Paris True Match Powder Beige Review Swatch

You can buy 9gms of this product for a price of INR 999 in India, which I believe is quite expensive for a powder compact. The quality of the mirror and the product is quite good but for the price, I would expect a better applicator too. I am not an expert when it comes to powder compacts but I am quite sure that cheaper products do exist in the market. I have heard that the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder is great, and it is available at only a quarter of the price. So, based on the price, I would recommend you guys to skip this product although the quality is pretty good.

Loreal Paris Rouge Caresse Lipstick – Impulsive Fuchsia | Review & Swatches

Is there any such thing as a perfect lipstick formula? If you ask me, my preferences change on a daily basis as per my mood, the weather, my hair and what not. However, on the days when I need a lip color that is balmy and nourishing but decently pigmented too, I reach for my Loreal Paris Rouge Caresse Lipstick in the shade Impulsive Fuchsia (202). If you like blue toned pinks and want a comfortable lipstick for daily wear, read on, you may have stumbled upon a new favorite.

Loreal Paris Rouge Caresse Lipstick Impulsive Fuchsia

This lipstick is one of the cheaper alternatives from Loreal and therefore the packaging is not very impressive (it’s all plastic with a silver body). However, as long as the formula is good, I am not really that picky about the packaging of my lipsticks. In this case, the texture is quite balmy and almost oily (in a good way). One stroke provides a sheer wash of color but the coverage is quite buildable and 2-3 strokes will provide you a semi-opaque finish.

Loreal Paris Rouge Caresse Lipstick Impulsive Fuchsia Swatch Review

The color is a pretty, blue-toned pink with hints of purple. This particular shade of fuchsia tends to suit my complexion quite well and I have multiple makeup products in this color. As an added bonus, the blue undertones make the teeth look whiter too! When I tried this product for the first time, I was afraid that it would not last long on the lips due to its balmy consistency. I was proven wrong though and was pleasantly surprised when it stayed put for almost 4 hours! Of course, it does transfer if you eat or drink something but it stains the lips slightly and fades quite gracefully. You will only need to reapply this product 1-2 times throughout the day, which is great when you compare it to a tinted lip balm.

Loreal Paris Rouge Caresse Lipstick Impulsive Fuchsia Lip Swatch

This lipstick is priced at INR 599 but is available on Purplle.com at INR 449 currently. The price is quite affordable from Loreal standards and the pigmentation, longevity, and texture make it worth the cost. If you want an upgrade from a tinted lip balm but are not yet ready for a heavy duty matte lipstick, then the Loreal Paris Rouge Caresse Lipstick is the perfect in-between option for you!

Loreal Paris Color Riche Collection Exclusive Lipstick in Aishwarya’s Delicate Pink | Review and Swatches

While rummaging through my lipsticks the other day, I realized that while Loreal makes some stunning dark lip colors, it tends to struggle with the lighter pinks. One such disappointing pink lip color from Loreal is the Collection Exclusive Color Riche Lipstick in the shade Aishwarya’s Delicate Pink. This special edition lipstick was supposed to be a velvety matte flush of pink but ended up being a disaster on my lips.

Loreal Paris Collection Exclusive Color Riche Aishwarya's Delicate PinkLoreal seems to have put in a lot of effort into the packaging of this collection and it has a soft, almost velvety matte feel to it. The formula is similar to the packaging in terms of texture, however, the pigmentation fails to impress. You need 3-4 swipes to get an opaque and even color all over the lips. The disaster doesn’t end there, the product almost instantly settles in the creases and highlights every flaw of the lips in the most unflattering manner! The situation gets worse with time as the color becomes patchy and uneven. Basically, you cannot really apply this product without a very opaque and creamy lipliner underneath it.

Loreal Paris Collection Exclusive Aishwarya's Delicate Pink Lipstick Arm SwatchIf you have already purchased this lipstick and don’t want to waste it then I would recommend using it on top of a lip liner. It is such a shame that the formula does not work well because the color is absolutely gorgeous and would look particularly stunning on those with a lighter skin tone. I hate writing negative reviews for brands and Loreal is one of my favorite ones, but this product is, unfortunately, a dud. If you do not believe me then check out the lip swatch below, it leaves nothing to doubt.

Loreal Paris Collection Exclusive Aishwarya's Delicate Pink Lipstick Lip SwatchPriced at INR 995, this lipstick is definitely not worth the money, which means that my hunt for the perfect rosy pink lipstick continues. If you have any recommendations for me then please leave them in the comments below!

Although I do not recommend it, you can buy the Loreal Paris Color Riche Collection Exclusive Lipstick in the shade Delicate Pink here.

Loreal Paris Color Riche Moist Matte Lipstick in Lincoln Red | Review and Swatches

I realize that of late I have been quite critical in my reviews of Loreal products. The reason for this is that I love the brand so much that I always get very disappointed if one of their products does not meet my high expectations. Thankfully, the Loreal Paris Color Riche Moist Matte Lipstick in the shade Lincoln Rose performed really well and left me thoroughly impressed.

This lipstick has an extremely luxurious feel to it, thanks to its sturdy gold packaging and the colored gemstone that represents the actual shade quite accurately. The formula is a comfortable matte which might appear a little shiny under bright light. It is incredibly creamy and offers good pigmentation in a single swipe.

The color seems like an orangeish red in the bullet and when swatched on the hand but on the lips you can see pinkish undertones as well. I feel that it is a unique shade that combines the right amounts of red, orange, and pink. This color will be perfect for those who usually love a pink toned red but want to add a hint of orange to their lips for the summer months. The color stays opaque on the lips for around 4 hours, after which it starts to fade, leaving behind an even stain that lasts all day long. I personally feel that considering that the formula is a comfortable matte and not a drying one, the longevity is quite good.

This lipstick is priced at INR 950 but I would recommend buying it during the sale season when it is available for around INR 750. This is a flattering color that would look good on a wide range of skin tones. I am happy that the rich formula of this lipstick has reinstated my faith in Loreal and I will definitely be trying out more shades from this range!

I hope that this review was useful. You can buy this lipstick for INR 760 on Nykaa!

Loreal Professionnel Tecni Art Constructor Hair Spray| Review

Smooth and glossy hair have always been a cult favorite but we all go through those Bohemian phases when we can’t do without some texture in our tresses. The Loreal Professionnel Tecni Art Constructor is a great way to add a subtle hold to your hair, without weighing them down with too much product.

This hair spray has a thermo-active formula, which means that it gets activated by heat. You can spray this product on the sections of your dry or damp hair and can proceed to tease them with the help of a hair dryer. It offers protection from the heat and provides a medium hold to the hair, without making them crunchy. You will not be able to obtain dramatic volume or texture with this product but it helps to slightly lift the roots and removes the “sleekness” to add some body to your locks. It has a mild fragrance that doesn’t last for too long after usage. I haven’t used it while straightening or curling my hair but I have heard that it works well with those styling tools too.

Overall, I think that this product is excellent for providing some volume to the hair without going too overboard. However, a 150ml can is priced at more than INR 1000 in India, which I feel is quite steep for a hair spray. There are more affordable options from Toni & Guy that do a similar job but in case you find it at a cheaper price where you live then you might enjoy this product if you like light weight hair sprays.

Disappointing Products – Loreal Paris Color Riche L’Extraordinaire Mat Lip Colors

I love almost everything from Loreal but this lip product disappointed me a lot. I had high expectations from the Loreal Paris Color Riche L’Extraordinaire Mat lip color in the shade Madeleine Pink but unfortunately, it failed to perform well. If only the formula was as great as the luxurious rose gold packaging! This product could have been a winner but turned out to be a dud.

My biggest complaint with this product is that it claims to be a matte lip color but the formula is a glossy lip cream at best. The swatches show that it reflects the light and is pretty shiny. I could live with the shine though, but the texture of the formula is very difficult to wear throughout the day too.

Although the color is quite opaque, the formula is pretty streaky and it is hard to get an even pigmentation on the lips. You will need to use a lipliner or will have to apply the product very carefully to get an even finish. I would much rather go for some other liquid lipstick than spend so much effort on perfecting my look with this one. Moreover, the formula clings to every imperfection of the lips and exaggerates them more than even my true matte lipsticks do.

I was drawn to this product because of its gorgeous pink shade with slightly peachy undertones. If the formula would have been more cooperative then this lip color could have been perfect for daily wear. What is more, this product is priced at INR 950, you can buy two decent liquid lipsticks for that amount. So basically, I would recommend skipping this product and trying out the other lip glosses and lipsticks from Loreal instead.

Loreal Professionnel Force Vector Masque | Review

A few years ago, I moved to a new city where the water supply primarily comprised of hard water. This did not work well at all for my hair and I had to deal with the most brittle hair that I had ever experienced. The chemicals in the water made my hair so weak that each time I brushed my fingers through it, a bunch of strands would end up in my hand. Trust me, it wasn’t a pretty sight at all. I consulted a hair stylist about my grave situation and he suggested that I try the Loreal Professionnel Expert Serie Force Vector Mask. This amazing product single-handedly rescued my hair within a month and the hair fall reduced drastically and became almost negligible!

Thanks to this blog, I can spread the word about this excellent hair mask that strengthens each fiber of the hair, thereby reducing the breakage caused due to brittleness. This mask has a creamy, thick consistency and spreads easily on the hair. It also has a sweet, almost cinnamony scent that I love. I use this product 1-2 times a week on the lower ends of my hair, after conditioning them. I leave it on for around 10 minutes and when I rinse my hair they feel nourished and soft. This hair mask contains avocado oil and royal jelly that provide nutrition to rough, chemically treated hair. It also uses a Glycocell technology to strengthen the hair fibers. As unbelievable as it may sound, the hair does feel stronger after just a couple of uses! Furthermore, this mask also makes the hair more resilient to heat styling, which is good if you blow dry or straighten your hair on a regular basis.

I would highly recommend this product to those with brittle hair caused by chemical treatments, heat styling, or hormonal issues. It is the only product I have ever used that has helped with hair fall due to breakage. Priced at INR 675 for a 196 gm tub, this product is quite affordable considering its efficacy and benefits. If you have been noticing an alarming number of hair strands on your pillow and your hair brush then this hair mask might be the perfect fit for you!

The Battle of The Foundations: Maybelline Fit Me vs Loreal Paris True Match vs Loreal Paris Infallible

If you follow me on Instagram (@mrinalinism) then you might know that I had promised a battle of the foundations, so here we are. I recently purchased the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation in the shades 230 Natural Buff and 322 Warm Honey and like any other beauty lover I have loads to say about how this foundation compares with the ruling drugstore favorites, the Loreal Paris True Match Foundation and the Loreal Paris Infallible 24H Foundation. I have previously reviewed my holy grail foundation, the Loreal Paris Infallible in the shade 250 Radiant Sand over here so do check out that post for a more detailed review of the same.

Now, here are my thoughts on the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation and its comparison with the products from Loreal:

Color: The shade range of the Fit Me Foundations seems to run a little darker than I expected. The color 322 Warm Honey is clearly very dark for me while 230 Natural Buff seems to be the closest match for my skin tone. Both these shades have a peachy brown undertone, which might look a bit dull and muddy on the face. The shade 250 Radiant Sand of the Infallible range is the perfect match for my skin tone and has a yellow undertone. As for the True Match range, N4 Beige seems to be the nearest match to my complexion but it somehow appears pinkish in the beginning but seems to oxidize with time and ends up matching my skin tone. So the Infallible foundation is clearly the winner of this category.

Maybelline Fit Me Loreal True Match Infallible Comparison Swatches

Coverage: I feel that the True Match and Fit Me foundations have similar coverage. They provide a medium coverage that can be built to a full coverage by adding a second layer of the product. The Infallible on the other hand has a full coverage in one coat and you do not need a concealer unless you have some really huge blemishes. Again, if full coverage is your need then you must stick with Loreal Infallible.

Finish- The Fit Me Matte+Poreless foundations have a comfortable matte finish. They are highly suitable for oily skin as they do not add any shine to the face. However, the lack of a glow might seem a little flat. Somehow, they seem to moisturize the skin despite being matte foundations and they are so easy to wear that I often forget that I have foundation on! The True Match Foundations are also moisturizing but they have a more glowy finish that is suitable for dry skin. The Infallible foundations are extremely matte but have a brightening effect on my face due to the yellow undertones. However, they tend to get a little uncomfortable to wear after a few hours.

Maybelline Fit Me Loreal True Match Infallible Comparison Swatches

Longevity- The Fit Me and True Match foundations have a comparable longevity of about 4-6 hours on my skin. The Infallible foundation, on the other hand, can last up to 8-10 hours in a similar environment.

SPF- The True Match foundation has an SPF 17 while the Infallible Foundation has an SPF 18. The packaging of the Fit Me foundation does not mention an SPF, so I am not sure if this one contains any SPF or not.

Maybelline Fit Me Loreal True Match Infallible Comparison Swatches

Packaging- Both the Loreal foundations come with a pump while the Fit Me foundation does not have one. The lack of a pump makes it hard to use and difficult to travel with.

Price- The Maybelline Fit Me Foundation is priced at INR 525 only while equal volumes of the True Match and the Infallible foundations are priced at INR 1025 and INR 1400 respectively. With such a huge difference in price, I can definitely live without a pump!

Final Verdict- For oily skinned people like me the Infallible foundation is the best bet for long-lasting full coverage while the Fit Me foundation offers value for money and is great for daily wear. The True Match foundation is more suited for those with dry to combination skin types.

I hope this exhaustive review and comparison was useful and helps you in making the right foundation choice!
