Nykaa So Matte Mini Lipsticks | Review and Swatches

Lipstick minis are the flavour of the season, with all brands, both high-end and drugstore ones, coming out with miniature versions of their most loved lip shades. I am definitely rejoicing at this because this way I get to try out a wider variety of shades without burning a hole in my pocket, and also without the guilt of not being able to use up my lipsticks before they cross the expiry date. I was particularly pleased about the launch of the Nykaa So Matte Mini Lipsticks because this is one of my favourite creamy matte lipstick formulas. These cute mini lipsticks contain 1.5 gm of product and are currently available in 10 of the shades from the So Matte range. I have already reviewed the formula of these lipsticks in previous blog posts, so today I will only be talking about the 4 shades that I picked up, which are Scarlet Siren, Devious Pink, Bare Minimum, and Cinnamon Crunch.

Starting with the lightest shade, Cinnamon Crunch (50M) is a warm light brown shade that will be a perfect nude for extremely fair people. Since I have a wheatish complexion, this shade washes me out and also does not apply very evenly and opaquely on my pigmented lips. I have to mix this shade with a deeper peach or pink to make it work for my skin tone, but if you are fairer than me then this might look great on its own.

The second shade Bare Minimum (47M) is a beautiful peachy nude that looks slightly pink under certain lighting. This colour is a nice nude for my skin tone and will work well for all those with light to medium skin tones. It provides opaque pigmentation in one swipe and lasts for at least 4-5 hours on my lips.

Coming to my favourite shade out of the 4, Devious Pink (03) is a beautiful pink that will suit almost all Indian skin tones. It will be a nice deep pink for those with light skin tones and slightly brighter than a nude pink for those with a medium complexion. The pigmentation of this shade is completely opaque and perfect for those with pigmented lips.

Last but not the least, Scarlet Siren (29M) is a stunning orange-toned red that will suit fair to medium skin tones. This is a very bright red as opposed to more mature looking berry-toned reds and maroons. It can also work as a nice deep orange for those with deeper skin tones. It is quite easy to apply compared to some of the other red lipsticks that I own and has definitely become my go-to red at the moment.

Overall, I am super happy with this entire range of mini lipsticks and will highly encourage you to pick up at least a couple of shades from the range. You can’t really go wrong with these, considering that they are priced at INR 199 only. If you are a lipstick lover on a budget then these minis will soon become your best friends!

Wet n Wild MegaLast Lipsticks | Review and Swatches

Helloo All the Lovely People out there!

Lipsticks are a girl’s best friend – no matter how many we own, we will always want more, and budget lipsticks are like a cherry on the cake. Today I will be talking about the much-awaited launch which falls in the drugstore and affordable category – Wet n Wild. Yessss!!! It finally launched in India! Initially, it was available online only on Nykaa but now it’s also available on HOK makeup. I had picked up three lipstick shades from the Mega Last range through an Instagram store a little while before it launched in India. There are a total of 29 shades available at the moment but they are gradually expanding the shade range. The shades I picked up were Vamp It Up (not available in India yet), Spiked with Rum, and Bare It All. The lipsticks come in a flat top bullet form and contain 3.3 gms of product for a price of INR 295.

Now let’s move on to its CLAIMS: 4 hour, long-wearing lip colour. Leaves a semi-matte cream finish in one stroke. Glides on easily with a rich, velvety colour that doesn’t cake, feather or bleed. Made with hydrating skincare ingredients.

Talking about the shades, Vamp It Up is a bold dark purple colour, Spiked with Rum is a beautiful pinky brown shade with warm undertones, whereas Bare It All is a peachy nude shade and, in my opinion, will suite pale skin tones better. On the other hand, Vamp It Up will be a delight for the bold lip lovers, it’s an unusal colour and a must have considering the bold lip trend. Spiked With Rum will be a good option for the nude lip lovers. It is subtle and would cater to all skin types – it would be a perfect nude lip colour for our bronzed beauties and a darker nude lip for fair skinned beauties.

PROS:

Pigmentation: The pigmentation is amazing and I will agree with the claim that it gives a good colour payoff in one stroke. It is also not patchy at all. However, I will like to mention that the darker shade has a better and richer colour pay off. The lip colour doesn’t completely fade away with time and leaves a little tinge instead which looks beautiful.

Demi-Matte Finish: The finish is a bit satiny at first but it dries to a demi-matte finish or a velvety texture. It bleeds a little but nothing which is too bothersome. It doesn’t dry out the lips like the sahara desert.

Vegan: Wet n Wild is a peta- certified brand. Although not all the products are a 100 percent vegan, this particular one is made of natural plant extracts, coenzyme Q10 and vitamins A&E.

Budget Friendly: When you love lipsticks, budget is a huge concern. With these lipsticks you don’t have to worry about it. They deliver good quality for the money you pay.

Shade Range: Now this is the cherry on the cake, the range has a good variety of shades to offer and it will also cater to a lot of skin tones. It has all kinds of shades, from nudes to pinks to reds and maroons, to browns, peaches and orangy shades. It also has some unusal nude shades which would flatter fairer complexions.

Dupes for MAC: A big bonus is that some of the shades are also very close dupes for MAC lipsticks!!Yessssssss!!!! I have mentioned some of them below:

MAC Ruby Woo- Wet n wild Spotlight Red.

MAC Kinda Sexy- Wet n Wild Bare It All.

MAC Rebel- Wet n Wild Sugar Plum Fairy.

MAC Amp It Up- Wet n Wild Mauve Outta here.

MAC Diva- Wet n Wild Cherry Bomb.

Cons:

It transfers a little because of its velvety finish.

Staying power is a little less but then again they do mention that in their claims! It lasts for 3-4 hours.

The packaging is the biggest con, the bullet is housed in a simple twist up packaging but a part of the bullet keeps jutting out so that when you unscrew or shut the cap, a little lipstick transfers to the cap no matter how careful you are. Things get really messy as the lip colour transfers all over the outer body of the lipstick.

Overall, I would say that these lipsticks are a good buy if you can overlook the packaging. It is a decent affordable lipstick which deserves at least one shot.
