It gives me much joy when a makeup product is affordable yet long-lasting and richly pigmented, and when this product is a liquid lipstick, I am definitely a happy camper. One such product is the Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick, I recently picked up the shade Nice to Fuchsia from Nykaa.com and have fallen head over heels in love with this lipstick. Read on to find out more about this product.
Priced at INR 499, this liquid lipstick is an absolute steal! It has a creamy texture when applied which dries down to an almost pure matte finish yet does not feel uncomfortable on the lips at all. The formula is superbly pigmented and provides a rich fuchsia colour to the lips in one swipe and stays on literally all day. This product is waterproof and does not transfer at all, but if you eat oily food, it will transfer and move around a bit on the lips till it dries down again. Basically, it is perfect for the days when you want your makeup to last all day long without any touch-ups.
The shade Nice to Fuchsia is a bright, bold pink with a bluish undertone that will flatter most Indian skin tones. However, if bright lips are not your cup of tea then I will recommend checking out other shades from this range which includes everything from stunning reds to subtle nudes. Also, this lipstick will not come off even at the end of the day with just water, so it is best to remove it with some oil-based makeup remover. However, despite its longevity, it does not leave my lips feeling chapped or flaky after several hours of wearing the product.
Needless to say, I would highly highly recommend this liquid lipstick to everybody. It is hands down the most long-lasting and comfortable liquid lipstick formula that I have tried in a long time and you simply can’t go wrong with its drugstore price. If you are contemplating buying a new liquid lipstick this season then the Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick has to be it!
Today’s blog post is a nostalgic edition of YouTube Made Me Buy It, which means that I will be talking about a few of the products that were raved about a few years back on YouTube but have now disappeared from the makeup scene, or at least from my makeup routine. In this post, I will be talking all about lip products, and if you guys enjoy it then I will publish similar posts for face and eye makeup really soon! So without much ado, here is a list of the lip products that have been sitting in my makeup drawer for quite some time!
Maybelline Lip Polishes – Does anyone remember Essie Button (Estee Lalonde) talking about the Maybelline Lip Polishes in one of her favorites video a long time ago? These lip polishes were somewhere between a gloss and a lip tint and were preferred by many YouTubers for daily wear. Personally, I found most of the shades too patchy and the only color I ended up wearing was the shade GLAM2. With the matte lip trend taking the world of makeup by storm, these lip polishes seem to have disappeared from the makeup counters.
Rimmel Apocalips – This product was all the rage back in the day. I clearly remember watching Dolly Bow Bow (Kate Murnane) swatching all the shades from the collection in a video when I was in college. I did not even know the meaning of a swatch at that time. I purchased just one shade from the Rimmel Apocalips range of lip lacquers but found it too pink and shimmery for my taste. I haven’t thrown away the tube though, being the nostalgic fool that I am.
Orange Lipstick – If you are a follower of YouTube beauty gurus then you MUST remember Zoella’s (Zoe Sugg) orange lipstick phase. All the lip products in her hauls from back in the day used be some shade of orange although now she has moved on to neutrals and berries. Zoe was such an inspiration that I would buy all the cute shirts that resembled the ones she bought at Primark and pair them with an orange lipstick. This one is the Maybelline Color Sensational Bold Matte Lipstick in the shade MAT3, a muted orangey-coral that they seem to have stopped selling.
It is funny that I have so many oranges and pinks tucked away at the back of my makeup drawer when all I wear these days are mauves and brownish nudes. Still finding it hard to throw them in the bin though! What do you guys do with the products you fall out of love with? Do you have some products in your stash that you bought on a whim based on the reviews of your favorite YouTuber? Tell me all about it in the comments section <3
Red lips may sound extremely glamorous but what adds a flush of color to most girls’ lips on a daily basis is a pink lipstick. And because a pink lipstick is a part of the daily makeup routine and is one of the few lip products that we actually end up finishing, it seems like a good idea to find a trustworthy but affordable option. The Maybelline Color Show Lipsticks have been around for a long time due to their excellent formula, and the shade 103 – Crushed Candy is the perfect pink for daily wear.
Just like the other lipsticks from the Color Show range, the formula of the shade Crushed Candy is creamy and moisturizing. I love the name of the shade and the fragrance of the lipstick is that of candies and lollipops too! The pigmentation is decent and you should be able to achieve an opaque finish in approximately 2 swipes. However, since it is a light shade, if you have highly pigmented lips then the color will not be able to conceal the patches completely. Also, I would recommend scrubbing your lips before using this lipstick because although the product doesn’t settle in the creases, it may exaggerate some bumps on the lips.
The shade looks darker in the bullet than it does on the lips. It is a darker and deeper version of a cotton candy pink, which makes it more suitable for Indian skin tones. I personally do not like super light pinks as they do not go well with my complexion but this one is the perfect “My Lips But Pinker” shade for me. As for the longevity, since the formula is a creamy one, it requires reapplication every 3 hours or so. Also, because it is slightly slippery on the lips, it would be better to use a lipliner under the lipstick if you are going to be eating. However, if you are just going out for a couple of hours or do not mind touching up once or twice throughout the day, this lipstick will work really well for a more natural makeup look.
Priced at INR 299 only, the Maybelline Color Show Lipstick in the shade Crushed Candy is ideal for when you need a break from the super matte liquid lipsticks and want something that can be applied in a jiffy. What is more, the formula is so nourishing that this lipstick can also double up as a lip balm. To top it all of, this formula is available in a wide variety of colors ranging from baby pinks to vampy reds. What more can you ask for from such an affordable product? If you like experimenting with lip colors but do not want to burn a hole in your pocket then the Maybelline Color Show Lipsticks are here to be your savior!
I hope that this review was helpful. You can buy the Maybelline Color Show Lipstick in the shade Crushed Candy here.
Is there any such thing as a perfect lipstick formula? If you ask me, my preferences change on a daily basis as per my mood, the weather, my hair and what not. However, on the days when I need a lip color that is balmy and nourishing but decently pigmented too, I reach for my Loreal Paris Rouge Caresse Lipstick in the shade Impulsive Fuchsia (202). If you like blue toned pinks and want a comfortable lipstick for daily wear, read on, you may have stumbled upon a new favorite.
This lipstick is one of the cheaper alternatives from Loreal and therefore the packaging is not very impressive (it’s all plastic with a silver body). However, as long as the formula is good, I am not really that picky about the packaging of my lipsticks. In this case, the texture is quite balmy and almost oily (in a good way). One stroke provides a sheer wash of color but the coverage is quite buildable and 2-3 strokes will provide you a semi-opaque finish.
The color is a pretty, blue-toned pink with hints of purple. This particular shade of fuchsia tends to suit my complexion quite well and I have multiple makeup products in this color. As an added bonus, the blue undertones make the teeth look whiter too! When I tried this product for the first time, I was afraid that it would not last long on the lips due to its balmy consistency. I was proven wrong though and was pleasantly surprised when it stayed put for almost 4 hours! Of course, it does transfer if you eat or drink something but it stains the lips slightly and fades quite gracefully. You will only need to reapply this product 1-2 times throughout the day, which is great when you compare it to a tinted lip balm.
I live by the philosophy that you can never have enough nude lipsticks in your collection, which is why I recently purchased the Nykaa So Matte Lipstick in the shade Taupe Thrill. I have already raved about the Nykaa So Matte Spiced Cabernet Lipstick in a previous blog post, and knew that this is a formula that I can trust, therefore I decided to opt for a lighter, more day-appropriate shade this time.
The shade Taupe Thrill (12M) is a brownish pink which will look flattering on most Indian skin tones. The formula is an opaque, creamy matte that looks slightly glossy under bright lights. The fact that it is not a flat matte makes it more comfortable to wear and in fact, it seems to hydrate my lips as well. It is not heavily perfumed like some of the other drugstore lipsticks, which makes it more suitable for those with sensitive skin.
Not only is the packaging extremely luxurious (square packaging with a magnetic closure!) but the formula is reminiscent of high-end lipsticks as well. Despite being a lighter shade and having a creamy consistency, this lipstick lasts on my lips for a good 6-7 hours and has also survived multiple rounds of digging into greasy food! It seems like Nykaa has taken a cue from MAC when it comes to the longevity of the product 🙂
Priced at INR 399, these lipsticks are definitely a bargain and the shade Taupe Thrill is a no-fail color that is suitable for all occasions. You can also look at the darker/brighter shades available in the range if nude lips are not your thing. Overall, both the color and the texture of this lipstick gets 5 stars from me 🙂
You know that you are a lipstick junkie when you have two lipstick shades from the same brand that are almost identical. What can you do, they each have a tiny difference that makes it absolutely essential for you to have them both! I have already spoken about the Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in the shade #122 Stylish on this blog and today I will talk about its lighter twin, the Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in the shade #046 Metallic Shimmer.
This lipstick is a reddish copper shade with lots of shimmer in it. The formula is creamy, and semi-opaque and stays on the lips for 3-4 hours. In the bullet, and even when swatched, Metallic Shimmer and Stylish look pretty similar. The only difference is that, on the lips, Stylish looks a little more brown/maroon while metallic shimmer looks slightly lighter, with orange undertones.
I wouldn’t say that you absolutely need to buy both the shades but investing in at least one of them would be a good idea. They are both warm-toned colors that will look great on medium Indian skin tones. This is why I love the Rimmel Lasting Finish lipsticks, they come in a ton of colors that are excellent for daily wear, when you need something more than a nude shade.
Priced at INR 275 only, these lipsticks are some of the most affordable ones in the market and they deliver excellent value for money. I would highly recommend checking out the shade Metallic Shimmer, and the range in general, I am sure you will love it too!
While rummaging through my lipsticks the other day, I realized that while Loreal makes some stunning dark lip colors, it tends to struggle with the lighter pinks. One such disappointing pink lip color from Loreal is the Collection Exclusive Color Riche Lipstick in the shade Aishwarya’s Delicate Pink. This special edition lipstick was supposed to be a velvety matte flush of pink but ended up being a disaster on my lips.
Loreal seems to have put in a lot of effort into the packaging of this collection and it has a soft, almost velvety matte feel to it. The formula is similar to the packaging in terms of texture, however, the pigmentation fails to impress. You need 3-4 swipes to get an opaque and even color all over the lips. The disaster doesn’t end there, the product almost instantly settles in the creases and highlights every flaw of the lips in the most unflattering manner! The situation gets worse with time as the color becomes patchy and uneven. Basically, you cannot really apply this product without a very opaque and creamy lipliner underneath it.
If you have already purchased this lipstick and don’t want to waste it then I would recommend using it on top of a lip liner. It is such a shame that the formula does not work well because the color is absolutely gorgeous and would look particularly stunning on those with a lighter skin tone. I hate writing negative reviews for brands and Loreal is one of my favorite ones, but this product is, unfortunately, a dud. If you do not believe me then check out the lip swatch below, it leaves nothing to doubt.
Priced at INR 995, this lipstick is definitely not worth the money, which means that my hunt for the perfect rosy pink lipstick continues. If you have any recommendations for me then please leave them in the comments below!
I realize that of late I have been quite critical in my reviews of Loreal products. The reason for this is that I love the brand so much that I always get very disappointed if one of their products does not meet my high expectations. Thankfully, the Loreal Paris Color Riche Moist Matte Lipstick in the shade Lincoln Rose performed really well and left me thoroughly impressed.
This lipstick has an extremely luxurious feel to it, thanks to its sturdy gold packaging and the colored gemstone that represents the actual shade quite accurately. The formula is a comfortable matte which might appear a little shiny under bright light. It is incredibly creamy and offers good pigmentation in a single swipe.
The color seems like an orangeish red in the bullet and when swatched on the hand but on the lips you can see pinkish undertones as well. I feel that it is a unique shade that combines the right amounts of red, orange, and pink. This color will be perfect for those who usually love a pink toned red but want to add a hint of orange to their lips for the summer months. The color stays opaque on the lips for around 4 hours, after which it starts to fade, leaving behind an even stain that lasts all day long. I personally feel that considering that the formula is a comfortable matte and not a drying one, the longevity is quite good.
This lipstick is priced at INR 950 but I would recommend buying it during the sale season when it is available for around INR 750. This is a flattering color that would look good on a wide range of skin tones. I am happy that the rich formula of this lipstick has reinstated my faith in Loreal and I will definitely be trying out more shades from this range!
Warm weather for me is synonymous with coral lips and loose sundresses. Coral is the perfect blend of orange, red, and pink, which looks great on all skin tones. My favorite coral lipstick for this time of the year is the Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipstick in the shade 109 (Rossetto).
First of all, the packaging of this lipstick is to die for. I love the combination of red and black and the signature with the tiny heart. However, some other shades of Kate Moss lipsticks come in the same packaging and it is a bit hard to tell them apart without uncapping them. I don’t mind doing that in the least because they look so stunning!
The color itself is a muted orange with hints of red. It is definitely a warm toned coral and therefore goes very well with Indian skin tones. The formula is creamy and buildable. One swipe will give you an almost opaque look but two swipes are needed for the perfect pigmentation. I would call it a comfortable semi-matte texture, with a small amount of shine. It lasts on the lips for around 5-6 hours but fades a little by this time and some of the product may settle in the cracks of the lips.
Overall, I am very pleased with the quality of this product, as I am with all the other Rimmel lipsticks I have tried so far. Its pleasant scent is the only thing that reminds me that I have lipstick on, it is that comfortable to wear! Priced at INR 275, this lipstick is definitely a steal and a must have for the summer months!

Sometimes the nude lip colors can be a bit too pale or brown. There are days when you need your lips to look naturally healthy and have a slightly reddish undertone. The Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in the shade 122 Stylish will not disappoint you on such occasions.
I am a huge fan of the Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipsticks in general as they are incredibly moisturizing yet stay on the lips for quite some time. This shade is no exception and I do not need to reapply for 3-4 hours. The formula is quite smooth and provides a semi-opaque finish in one swipe. It is a dusty red color with multi-colored shimmer that looks quite subtle on the lips.
I reach for this shade when I do not want a very bold look but don’t want my lips to look pale either. You can get away without a lip balm with this product, provided that you do not have severely chapped lips. It offers mild hydration and has a sweet, coconutty scent.
The best part about this lipstick is that it is priced at only INR 250! I think that the Rimmel lipsticks are quite underrated in India. They offer unmatchable quality for the price and come in a ton of different colors and finishes. Do give this one a try if you are looking for a comfortable to wear, foolproof nude red lipstick.
I love the soft feel of velvet, therefore as soon as I noticed the Maybelline Color Sensational Velvet Matte Lipsticks on Nykaa, I added one to my cart. I went for the shade Flaming Fuchsia (MAT10), which in my opinion is a gorgeous tulip pink shade. The formula, however, is another story altogether.
The texture of this product is light and smooth. It glides on the lips to provide a satin finish that does have a unique softness to it, doing complete justice to the Velvet in the name. It is very hydrating but tends to slide around on the lips. It does last for around five hours but you will notice that it collects inside the creases and gives a very patchy finish. The pigmentation is pretty good but not completely opaque, and a few imperfections are visible through the color. Reapplication is also a little difficult due to the slippery nature of the formula.
Personally, I am not a huge fan of the formula because it gives an uneven finish. However, if you are able to look past that then the color is extremely stunning and you will enjoy the texture of this product. Priced at INR 475, the product comes in a cute 5ml packaging with a doe foot applicator. If you want a moisturizing lip color that has a semi-matte finish then you can buy this one but if you want a perfect matte liquid lipstick then give this one a pass.
