You can find some skincare gems from Indie brands which can make the high-end skincare brands make a run for their money. Whenever I discover a skincare product that is affordable, clean, and from a homegrown brand, I feel elated and eager to share it with all of you. Suganda Skincare is one such brand started by an Indian mother whose quest for finding clean skincare for her child eventually lead her to study cosmetology and eventually launch her own skincare range. The Suganda White Lotus Moisturiser has received a lot of love from Indian bloggers and Instagrammers and for good reason. Here is what my experience with the product has been so far.
I have already reviewed the Nykaa Salon Gel Nail Lacquers on this blog, but I had only purchased dark and bright shades from the range till now. This time, I went for a nude peach shade called San Fran Mood (209) and since the formula of lighter shades can be different from those of the brighter shades, I decided to review it for all of you. Handbags are some of the most fruitful fashion investments in my opinion and when I truly want to pamper myself I treat myself to one! However, choosing a handbag can be quite a struggle if you want to keep up with all the latest handbag trends without burning a hole in your pocket. I have always been an avid fan of sarees and am always looking for an excuse or occasion to wear one of the sarees from my wedding trousseau. The problem is that since all the sarees that I bought during my wedding are on the heavier side, they are not suitable for daily wear. For me to able to slip into a saree on a regular day, it has to be extremely light-weight and easy to drape. The Made in Heaven Mul Cotton Sarees from Suta Bombay fit the bill perfectly – here is why!
Guest Post by Sohini
I’m Sohini, a budding blogger, youtuber as well as an influencer. I’m into this thing since last year and Mrinalini is one of the first few bloggers whom I followed on WordPress as well as on Instagram and writing for LipstickforLunch is a great opportunity for me.
So for my first guest post for this blog, I would like to share my experience with a new and innovative product I recently used- the generic version of the original makeup eraser. I got this from the brand Stay Quirky. It’s called their Wipe Out Makeup Remover.
I have finally found a true nude for my lips, the perfect “My Lips But Better Shade”. It is the shade Mauve-1 from the Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gradation range. While it is clear that this lip shade is my go-to these days for when I have no other makeup on or when I have gone heavy on the eye makeup, here is how this product fares in other aspects.
The Maybelline Lip Gradation Lipsticks are twist up crayons with a sponge on the other end to create the “gradient lips” effect. Because the shade Mauve-1 is a perfect nude for my lips, I cannot really create a gradient effect with this shade, but I basically bought this product for its colour and formula anyway. The shade is a taupish-mauve, which has stronger brown undertones than pink or mauve undertones. The formula is pretty opaque and has a very unique velvety matte texture that glides easily on the lips. Since it has a velvety texture, it is somewhere between a creamy matte and a flat matte and does transfer a little when you eat or drink.
It is pretty opaque on the lips in one or two swipes and the thin crayon tip allows precise application. I personally find the formula pretty comfortable but it does exaggerate any lines or dryness, so if you have really dry lips then you would need to hydrate and scrub them prior to using this product. It stays on the lips for a good 4-5 hours, and fades evenly with time. It does stain the lips a little but since this particular shade is so light, it is pretty easy to remove.
Priced at INR 550, the product is slightly pricey considering it is a Maybelline lipstick, but I don’t mind paying the amount for the formula. If you want a lip colour that you can put on without giving much thought to and simply heading out the door, then you must pick up this lipstick.

Sunscreen is perhaps one of the most important skincare products that I cannot recommend enough! At any point of time, I have at least 2-3 sunscreens from different brands lying around the house and trust me, ever since I started taking my sunscreen game seriously, the texture of my skin has improved drastically! One of the sunscreens I am using at the moment is the Biotique Bio Carrot Ultra Soothing Face Lotion with SPF 40+, and here are my thoughts on the product.
The Biotique Bio Carrot Ultra Soothing Face Lotion comes in a convenient tube packaging with a flip lid. It contains SPF 40+ and claims to provide protection against UVA and UVB. It contains the extracts of carrot seed, which is rich in Vitamin A, a well-known skincare ingredient, along with some interesting natural ingredients such as Parijat Patra and Lodhra Bark, which are ingredients inspired by the wisdom of Ayurveda.
The consistency of this product is in the form of a cream that looks quite rich but sinks into the skin beautifully. It makes the skin look well-hydrated without leaving behind a greasy finish, although I do feel that the formula may be a bit too heavy for those with really oily skin. The formula is extremely mild and gentle with a pleasant scent that is quite soothing. Basically, this can be a replacement for a day cream because it provides moisturization while offering protection from the sun.
If you are someone who prefers natural ingredients and gentle formulas then the Biotique Bio Carrot Ultra Soothing Face Lotion will be a good choice for you. The price point of INR 115 for a 50ml tube is excellent and Biotique products never make me break out, making it a win-win situation. Do grab your own today and let me know how it works for you!
I am usually wary of buying clothes from new online brands because of my worries regarding the sizing and the quality of the clothes. However, when the lovely folks from Oomph In My Closet approached me, I couldn’t resist saying yes to their trendy kurtis that are definitely fashion forward and unique at the same time. I have realised over the years that the pieces of clothing that I really love and re-use the most are the ones that are not the standard styles that are “in” at the moment but a different take on them, and the kurtis from Oomph fit this description perfectly!
I loved the fabric of these kurtis because it is light weight and smooth – aka perfect for the summers. I am a size XS in the brand and this is a comfortable fit for me, which I prefer as opposed to body hugging kurtis, especially in the sultry weather. I love the fact that the brand combines unique colours, patterns, and prints with latest trends such as tassels and ties, to create offbeat designs that are not cheap replicas of designer wear.
Pricewise, these kurtis are quite affordable, with most designs being priced at INR 700-800 on Flipkart. This is a great price because the popular brands provide kurtis of similar quality at around INR 1200. So this brand definitely gets a big thumbs up from me and I am already eyeing more pieces from their range.
Disclaimer: PR samples sent by the brand but all opinions are honest and my own.
I am a huge fan of citrus scents, especially in the summer months, and like to drench my home, clothes, and skin in lemony fragrances when the mercury rises. The Ryaal Grapefruit Essential Oil has recently become my favourite oil for the diffuser because it adds a fresh summery scent to my home that has a calming effect on my mind. I trust the quality of Ryaal’s essential oils and their 100% pure grapefruit essential oil is no exception. Here are some of the ways in which I use this product.
You can use this delightful grapefruit oil in your diffuser for some relaxing aroma therapy and can also apply a few drops to your clothes or pillow for its refreshing scent to uplift your mood all day long. An added bonus of this is that the scent keeps the mosquitoes away, which is a MAJOR plus if you live in India. Grapefruit oil is also great at brightening dull and tired skin, so you can mix in a drop with your face mask or serum to get that natural glow on your face. Honestly, there are a bunch of other ways in which this product can be used but these are my favourite ways to use this oil.
Everything about this product is perfect, from the sturdy bottle with a dropper, to the super affordable price of INR 199 for 15ml of product, to the quality of the oil. Ryaal also has a bunch of other essential oils in their collection which you can try in case you are not grapefruit-crazy like me. So do check out their fascinating range and let me know if you try out any of their products 🙂
