You know that a product is a cult classic when a brand keeps manufacturing it for years and years and today I will talk about one such product. I am not a huge blush wearer but if there is one blush that I always swear by, it is the Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush in the shade Fresh Coral. I still have the old packaging of this product although it seems that it has now been rebranded and repackaged as the Maybelline Color Show Blush. The shades and the formula remain the same though, so my review holds true for both the Cheeky Glow and the Color Show versions (so much confusion though!).
The shade Fresh Coral is true to its name. It is a warm pinkish coral with muted orange undertones. I feel that this type of a coral shade suits Indian skin tones more than the true pinks. I use this color on my cheeks for a nice coral flush and sometimes mix it in with a bronzer to create a blush cum contour. I also use it on my eyes as an eye shadow that gives a nice feminine touch to my makeup.
The formula is a very soft powder that does not have much chalkiness to it. It blends like a dream on the skin and you can build up the color up to the desired pigmentation without your cheeks looking cakey. I love the super adorable and dinky packaging and would buy this product just for the cuteness factor although it performs really well too.
Here is a picture of me wearing this blush as an eyeshadow on the outer corners of my lids. The powder works really well with a foundation or concealer underneath and stays put all day long.
This product is priced at INR 299 and is one of the most affordable and amazing blushes in the market. Its texture is perfect and you don’t really need anything more expensive unless you are on the hunt for a specific shade. The Maybelline Color Show Blushes are also available in two more shades, Peachy Sweetie, which is a cooler pink, and Creamy Cinnamon which has brown undertones. I am eyeing Creamy Cinnamon next to use as a contour (check out my Blush as a Contour post to find out how!) but if you are looking for a warmer pink blush then Fresh Coral will not disappoint!

A good foundation may cover up blemishes but what truly helps in achieving a flawless finish with makeup is a great primer. Primers not only extend the longevity of face makeup but also create a smooth canvas on the skin for the effortless application of foundation. Despite its numerous benefits, most women tend to skip this step on a day to day basis and directly apply foundation or a bb cream on top of moisturizer. This, however, could be a rookie mistake for an occasion when you want your makeup to last all day long and look beautifully blended. The Loreal Paris Base Magique Transforming Smoothing Primer is one product that can take your makeup to the next level for such special events.
This primer comes in the form of a thick cream that needs to be rubbed between the fingers before applying to the face. It has a super smooth texture that glides on the skin and fills in the pores while adding a glow to the face. Post-application, the skin feels extremely smooth to touch and the surface looks more even. On a no makeup day, you can simply apply this primer on its own for a “my skin but better look”. On the other hand, if you wish to apply a foundation on top, you will notice that this primer enhances the coverage and wear time of the product and makes it adhere better to the skin.
Coming to the cons, the product comes in a jar and dipping your fingers into a face product is never very hygienic, however, I can look past this because the consistency of this product is such that it cannot really be packaged in a tube. This primer also helps with oil control and keeps the skin non-greasy throughout the day but it may not suit dry skin and may exaggerate the dry patches on the face. Although this may be a con for many, it helps prevent my makeup from melting off my face during the hot and humid months.
From a price perspective, this primer is not the cheapest (INR 995 for 15ml) but I feel that it is worth the money because of the quality. Also, you only need a tiny bit of the product each day and this jar will last you a really long time. To conclude, this is definitely my favourite primer at the moment and I feel that all those with normal to oily skin will probably love the product as much as I do. When it comes to improving the texture of the skin, this primer is perhaps the next best thing to an effective skincare routine.
