Your signature fragrance can not only help you make an entrance every single time, it can also tell a lot about your personality and mood. Unfortunately, most long-lasting perfumes will burn a significant hole in your pocket, which is why I usually rely on The Body Shop fragrances for having that seemingly expensive scent without the hefty price tag. One of my favourite scents from The Body Shop is their White Musk fragrance, and here are my thoughts on the Eau De Toilette from this range.Read More »
Plum has already established itself as an amazing skincare brand in India with its vegan, cruelty-free and extremely effective products, and now they have launched their haircare range too! The brand has come up with two shampoos, a conditioner, and a hair mask, and I ended up buying the Olive and Macadamia Mega Moisturising Hair Mask on the day of the launch itself! Here is my review of the product after using it a couple of times.
About the Product (from the Plum website) – A treat, and not just a deep conditioning treatment, for your hair. Deep moisturizing, nourishing hair mask made with love from olive oil, macadamia oil, shea butter and loads of other do-gooders for stressed out tresses. Specially processed pro-vitamin B5 and film-forming hair protectants shield hair from pollution and UV. This silicone-free hair mask moisturizes, softens and deep-nourishes chemically-treated, damaged hair. Use once or twice a week for hair that looks, and indeed is, healthier, softer and shinier.
My Experience – The Plum Mega Moisturising Hair Mask comes in a huge white tub and the packaging is sleek and minimalistic as has always been the case with the brand. The mask is in the form of a thick white cream that has a pleasant natural scent that I quite enjoy. The brand recommends applying this product evenly throughout wet hair, trying to cover each strand as well as possible. This is a little difficult considering the texture of the product which is thick and not very spreadable. In any case, after application, you are supposed to leave the mask on for at least 20 minutes before rinsing off.
I used this hair mask straight after shampooing my hair, without using a conditioner, thinking that since the mask contains rich ingredients like olive and macadamia oil, using a conditioner might not be necessary. On its own, this hair mask does condition the hair and soften them, but it does not provide as much shine and smoothness to the hair as I had expected. I have really long, waist length hair that gets tangled pretty easily and this product does a good job at keeping them tame, but the results were not “spectacular”. I feel that I need to pair it with the shampoo and conditioner of this range to get the fabulous results that I was expecting.
Overall, I feel that this is a decent mask but nothing too amazing on its own. Also, working this formula into really long hair can be a little difficult and you will need a lot of product per wash if you have hair as long as mine, which makes the price of INR 875 for a 250gm jar seem a little pricey. I will try the product out with the shampoo and conditioner before passing my final verdict on this hair mask but for now, I can say that it does work well but did not meet the expectations that I had from the brand.
Has the monsoon humidity clogged up your pores yet? Yes? Time to stock up on some clarifying face masks and the one that I am loving lately is the Plum Green Tea Clear Face Mask. While I do love all my charcoal face masks, I sometimes feel that they are a bit too strong and a bit too trying to be used too often, which is when I reach for this product instead. Read on to find out my thoughts on the product.
This face mask has the signature green tea scent of the Plum green tea range. The formula is in the form of an extremely smooth and creamy mud mask. It glides on the skin and instantly provides a soothing, slightly cool sensation. For a detoxifying mask, this one is pretty mild, even though it clarifies the skin really well, making it perfect for those with slightly sensitive skin.
I leave this product on for almost 10-15 minutes, and by this time the mask dries up completely like a mud mask should and feels slightly “stretchy” on the skin. Upon washing off the product, my face looks visibly brighter and glowy and completely non-greasy.
What I love about this product is how gentle it is despite being able to pull out all the gunk from my pores. After a tiring day, it pumps back some life into my skin while calming it down and is also an excellent product for prepping the skin for a special event where you want to glow from within. The formula contains clay to soak up the excess oil, glycolic acid to exfoliate and brighten the skin, and green tea extracts to control acne – a perfect concoction for my skin type which is combination to oily and acne-prone.
Priced at INR 490 for a 60 gm jar, this product is quite affordable for what it does and is something that I am thoroughly enjoying in the humid weather. If you are someone who does not prefer masks that tingle and stretch the skin too much, I am sure you will love this one. Also, the fact that it is a vegan, cruelty-free product makes me favour it over others that are not. A must-have for the monsoons in my opinion!
Clean skincare is something that always attracts me, and when the brand sources ingredients from the wonderful ecosystems of the country and gives back to the remotest regions of India, I am definitely going to talk about it. This fascinating brand is Kanai Organics, a plant-based beauty brand that has recently released an Avocado Oil Moisturiser and an Aloe Vera Manjishtha Face Wash. Before talking about these products in detail, here is a brief introduction about the brand:
“Kanai’s emphasis is on making nature the star of the product. Using ingredients like Apricot, Turmeric, Aloe Vera, Reetha, Manjistha, Sesame, Avocado, Nutmeg, we build products that promise to enhance and beautify naturally. Our promise to the customer is that at least 95% of the ingredients used will be natural and ethically sourced by using fair trade practices.
Our idea of beauty doesn’t just limit itself to the body but also to the heart. And what better way to prove it than to be kind and give back to those that deserve it the most? Kanai remains committed to never testing on animals and giving away proceeds from the sale of each product to the Rural Development Institute which works to address the needs of women, children and adolescents in some of the remotest parts of the Himalayas.”
I love the honesty of the brand where they claim to be at least 95% natural, whereas many brands resort to marketing gimmicks where they claim that they are 100% natural but the ingredient list states otherwise. This brand is inspired by Indian ingredients and is making sure that the growers of these ingredients continue to have a livelihood. This really impressed me even before I started using the products, but without much ado, here are my thoughts on their face wash and moisturiser.
My skin loves anything with Avocado oil in it and the Kanai Avocado Oil Moisturiser is no exception. It contains a lot of ingredients that are great for the skin, such as sesame oil, liquorice & neem extracts, and of course, avocado oil and is rich in Vitamins A, C, D, E, and K. I also love the fact that it has a natural SPF 15 in it, which is great for when you are stepping out for a short while. This moisturiser is extremely light-weight and sinks into the skin beautifully, without leaving any white cast. It has a mild pleasant scent and an extremely soothing effect on the skin. This moisturiser can be used on the body as well as the face, but I have been using it only on my body and I must say, my skin feels way softer and smoother than before. Priced at INR 600 for a 100ml tube, I feel that the price of the product is justified considering the great ingredients and the fact that some of the proceeds from every purchase go towards supporting the rural communities of the Himalayan region.
The Kanai Aloe Vera Manjishtha Face Wash is very unique because it is free of chemical soap, and contains natural Reetha extracts instead. Because of this, the face wash is extremely gentle and does not lather much, but cleanses the skin really well. The Manjishtha extracts brighten the skin while the aloe vera hydrates it. My skin feels baby soft after each wash and has not broken out since I started using the product. In fact, my existing acne has also reduced significantly because of this face wash. This product is perfect for those with extremely dry or sensitive skin, and those with oily skin can use it as a second step of a double cleanse routine. Priced at INR 550 for a 100ml tube, this face wash is a must buy for all those whose skin is extremely sensitive to chemicals.
As you can probably tell, I am already a huge fan of the brand and can’t wait for them to come up with more products. Meanwhile, why don’t you try these two products and let me know what you think about them?

The crazy bath lady strikes again! But what do I do – summer is here and I get through soaps and shower gels like nobody’s business. Also, Seer Secrets was kind enough to send me their Smoky Rose Geranium Hydrating Soy Milk Enzyme Body Cleanser and it was too good not to blog about, so here we go!
First of all, this body wash smells of roses, which is one of my favourite scents in the world. Secondly, it is enriched with soy protein that nourishes and hydrates the skin, so even if you are someone who likes to hop into the shower multiple times in a day during summer, your skin will still not feel dry or flaky. Another USP of this product is that it claims to fight against body acne, and I have indeed seen an improvement in the condition of the acne on my back and shoulders ever since I started using this product. Also, the bottle with a pump provides a hassle-free experience for those who want to be in and out of the shower in a jiffy.
To be honest, every product from Seer Secrets that I have tried till date has been of excellent quality and worth recommending. They put a lot of thought into their ingredients and their bath range, including this product, is no exception. Look at the ingredient list in the picture if you still have doubts. While the price of INR 594 for a 250ml bottle may seem a little up there, this product will last you a really long time because it lathers beautifully. So do take my word for it and try it out yourself, your skin will thank you for it!
Skincare is very important for women of all age, starting from teenagers, but the most critical time to pay attention to your skin is between the ages of 25-30, to beat those wrinkles and age spots to oblivion even before they begin to appear! This is why I have recently become more interested in anti-aging ingredients and products and the Tvakh Antioxidant Age Defying Day Complex is the latest addition to my arsenal.
This day cream contains Omega 3 Fatty Acids that protect the skin from photo-aging caused by exposure to sunlight. It also contains powerful anti oxidants such as white mulberry, beta carotene, and wheat germ along with Vitamin C and Vitamin E to reduce pore size, eliminate fine lines and improve the overall texture of the skin.
Personally, I found the texture of this day cream to be very unique. It looks thick and creamy in the jar, which had me a little worried because I have oily skin, but upon application, it literally glided on my skin and was absorbed within seconds. It leaves the skin super hydrated but non-greasy, and is suitable for all skin types, although people with extremely oily skin may find it a tad bit heavy. However, I am someone with fairly oily skin but did not find the formula oily or sticky. The product leaves the skin feeling smoother, softer, and tighter from the very first use, and this tightening action is what one needs to reduce pore size and eliminate wrinkles. Although this cream looks slightly beige in the packaging, it goes on completely sheer on the skin, and call me crazy but I actually feel that it smells like sweet milk 😛 I quite enjoy the scent because it makes me feel like I have treated my skin with something luxurious.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with the performance of this product and do not have anything negative to say about it. I have been using it on and off for some time now and have noticed that my skin has become slightly smoother and brighter. I am sure that with daily use, the results will be even more noticeable. Priced at INR 625 for a 100gm jar, I feel that this product is quite affordable for what it does to the skin. It is also free of parabens and phthalates and is not tested on animals. This product has definitely left me impressed and has piqued my interest in more products from Tvakh. I will surely be trying out more skincare from the brand and will be reporting back to you about each product. In the mean time, if you want something to battle the aging caused by environmental factors and, well, your age, then this product is something you must try.

Even though soap bars have made a major comeback in India, thanks to the beautiful handmade soaps that have hit the shelves, I am still a loyal lover of shower gels. Somehow the sight of a wet bar of soap with that one rookie strand of hair clinging to it always turns me off, and I have super long hair that break easily, so this scene is pretty unavoidable in my bathroom 🙁 Also, shower gels are easy to travel with and are a more hygienic option when shared, so basically, I have a significant stash of shower gels in my cupboard. Today I will talk about the latest edition to my shower gel family, the Kronokare Provencal Lavender All Is Well Shower Gel.
This shower gel is free of sulfates, parabens, silicones, and mineral oil. It contains lavender and thyme extracts, glycerin, and seed oils that soothe and repair the skin while cleansing it. This product is particularly designed for irritated skin and is super gentle on the body. It initially smells like an old school, strong smelling shampoo, but after rinsing it leaves behind the mild and pleasant scent of lavender on the skin. It lathers pretty well and cleanses the skin without leaving it dry, in fact, my skin feels slightly softer after using this shower gel. It is therefore perfect for the days when you are suffering from extremely dry skin or have rashes from waxing or shaving.
Priced at INR 200 for 55ml, this shower gel is fairly expensive, but it is perfect for those whose skin reacts badly to drugstore shower gels. Other than the high price, I do not have anything negative to say about this product. The packaging with the flip cap is pretty sturdy and travel-friendly too. The 30ml bottle that I have was a sample purchased from Smytten (I got 2 other samples and this bottle for INR 89 only, which is a very good deal!), so you can check it out on the Smytten app, or can purchase it from the Kronokare website directly. If you are a fan of lavender then I am sure that you will love this product!
