90’s kids, do you remember the khas grass that our parents used to attach to the walls of our air coolers in the summer months? That is what Vetiver grass is, and as unglamorous as it may sound, vetiver water carries a bunch of skincare benefits. A number of skincare brands in India have recently launched Vetiver Water face mists, and I recently got my hands on the Kamaakshi Botanicals Vetiver Water Face and Body Mist in a subscription box that reached my doorstep right before a heat wave engulfed my city. Here are my thoughts on this product after testing it out in 40+ degrees Celsius weather.
I swear by the Organic Harvest Lip Balms but had never tried any of their skincare products despite hearing rave reviews from beauty bloggers. I finally decided to rectify this and picked up the Organic Harvest 3-in-1 Face Wash from Nykaa.com. This is a 3-in-1 Face Wash because it claims to cleanse, exfoliate and brighten in one go. Read on to find out how this product fared for me.
Facial oils have honestly been the biggest discovery of my skincare journey for me. The right facial oil keeps my combination skin hydrated and nourished without being greasy or heavy. I was recently on the market for a new facial oil, and the Plum Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Glow Restore Face Oils Blend had always intrigued me, so I finally picked it up. Here are my thoughts after using this face oil for several weeks.
Summer is the season of face mists galore! Who doesn’t like a spritz of cooling hydration on a sweltering hot day? I know I do! Which is why I have stocked up on face mists, and today I am going to review the Plum Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Nutriplenish Face Mist for all of you. Isn’t it amazing to find an Indian skincare brand that is cruelty-free and all about using organic, natural ingredients? Today I will be talking about one such upcoming brand that has a promising line-up of skincare products for all skin types. I have been using the Belle Organique skincare range for oily/combination skin for a number of weeks now and here are my thoughts on their face wash, scrub, and face cream.
Isn’t it amazing when a sample sized product lasts you for weeks, so much so that you are able to write a review on it? It rarely happens that a skincare sample lasts me long enough for me to form an opinion on it but this time I received a sample of The Body Shop Drops Of Youth Concentrate with my recent order and I was pleasantly surprised at how long this product has lasted me (it is still going strong). Here are my thoughts on this product after using it for a few weeks.
I have been meaning to try Tamanu Oil ever since Bhumika from makeupandsmiles.com wrote a post about the benefits of this oil as a skincare ingredient. When I spotted that Vaunt, one of my recent favourite skincare brands, had brought out a Tamanu and Cranberry Seed Face Oil, I had to try it out. I have been using this facial oil for several weeks now and here is what I think about this product so far.Read More »
Plum recently launched two new variants of their body butters and also had a BOGO offer running on these. The new fragrances that they launched are Creme Caramel and Berry Sorbet, and they also repackaged their original fragrances which were Fig & Vanilla and Wild Cherries & Kiwi. I picked up the Creme Caramel and the Wild Cherries & Kiwi variants and have been loving both these body butters to bits. Here is why –Read More »
Vitamin E is a miracle skincare ingredient that can work wonders for dry and damaged skin. It is a powerful anti-oxidant with anti-inflammatory properties and is also known to reduce UV damage caused by prolonged exposure of skin to sunlight. It is also proven to be extremely effective in treating skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis.
While Vitamin E is naturally present in the skin, factors such as sun exposure and aging can reduce the Vitamin E levels in the skin. This is why you need to incorporate it into your diet as well as in your skincare, especially if you have been noticing dullness and dryness on your skin. Nowadays, there are a lot of skincare products available in the market that contain Vitamin E as a key ingredient. Here are some of my favourite picks from The Body Shop Vitamin E range that are excellent at repairing damaged skin and restoring a youthful glow to the face.
- The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil – Overnight treatments give the quickest and most drastic results when it comes to repairing the skin because the ingredients get substantial time to work their magic without any external factors like sunlight and pollution coming in the way. The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil is a rich concoction of Vitamin E Oil combined with Community Trade sesame seed oil from Nicaragua. This product contains the highest concentration of wheatgerm oil among all the products from the Vitamin E range. You need to apply this serum after cleansing and toning your skin and top it up with a moisturiser to wake up to rejuvenated skin that looks well-rested.
- The Body Shop Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream – This Vitamin E Cream has been a cult favourite since its launch and with good reason. It is specially formulated for those with extremely dry skin and true to its name, it provides intense hydration to the skin. It makes the skin super soft and smooth from the very first application and the results only get better with time. It can be used along with a serum or on its own and can be applied in the morning as well as at night. This jar of goodness is a must have for those who want an instant rescue from dry skin.
- The Body Shop Vitamin E Day Lotion (SPF 30) – If you are looking for something light-weight yet nourishing, The Body Shop Vitamin E Day Lotion is the perfect product for you. It has a milky formula that provides hydration without being thick or greasy. This lotion also contains SPF 30 and provides protection from UVA and UVB rays, which make it perfect for daytime use. It sinks into the skin within seconds but continues to nourish and protect it for hours and is an excellent base for makeup too!
If you haven’t discovered the amazing powers of Vitamin E yet then you must try out these products at least once. I am sure that your skin will look so much better that you will never look back!
So Plum has recently been in the news for all the right reasons. It has now been approved by PETA for being cruelty-free and vegan, another feather added to the brand’s cap for providing clean and no-nonsense skincare at affordable prices. One of their excellent products for summer is the Plum Hello Aloe Ultra Lite Day Lotion, which I will be reviewing for all of you today.
The Plum Ultra Lite Day Lotion contains the goodness of aloe vera and Vitamin E and provides hydration without being heavy or greasy. For the longest time, I thought that this product is an aloe vera gel, which is why I never purchased it. However, when I received a free sample of this product with my order, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this is actually a cream based product, which I personally prefer during the day, and the SPF 20 makes it perfect for summers. Texturewise, I would say that it is somewhere in between a lotion and a cream, it is creamier than the Plum Green Tea Lotion but is not greasy, and should be suitable for dry to normal skin.
As claimed by the brand, the product is indeed very gentle on the skin and is therefore suitable for those with sensitive skin. While aloe vera gel on its own is ideal for oily skinned people, the incorporation of the ingredient in this particular formula allows dry-skinned people to enjoy the benefits of aloe vera, which is very innovative in my opinion. Also, since I have a sample of the product, I got a tube, but the actual packaging of the full-sized product is in the form of a bottle with a pump which makes it completely utilitarian.
Overall, I do not have anything negative to say about this product at all. If you are someone who enjoys light-weight skincare which is not laden with chemicals then this lotion will definitely become your favourite. So do try out this product and let me know how it worked for you!
The sun is shining bright on our faces now and we are all reaching for the matte sunscreens, well at least skincare crazy people like yours truly are! I seem to be going through one tube of sunscreen a month these days, and the one that I am currently using is the Plum Chamomile & White Tea Sheer Matte Day Cream SPF50. Here are my thoughts on this product that is pretty much the need of the hour.
Not only does this cream provide a high SPF of 50, it also contains ingredients that are really good for the skin. Some of the ingredients that stand out are chamomile, known for its soothing effect on the skin, white tea, a powerful anti-oxidant, and Gingko Biloba extracts, which possess anti-ageing properties and help with fine lines and wrinkles. I haven’t used the product long enough to comment on the anti-ageing properties, but it definitely calmed down my hormonal breakout after just one use and I did not break out after that. Also, ever since I started using this sunscreen as a replacement for my last one, my skin has become visibly brighter, so full marks to Plum for that.
Texturewise, this cream is semi-thick, but it spreads pretty easily on the skin. Remember, a little goes a long way with this cream, so if you will use too much product, it will leave a slight whitish cast on your face, however, if you use the right amount then the cream will sink into the skin within a minute or two. Once blended in, the cream offers a completely matte finish on the face and feels really light-weight, much like the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunscreen. I am absolutely loving its matte finish during the hot and humid weather and my makeup sits well on top of the cream too. I also love its subtle sweet scent which instantly perks up my mood in the morning (yes, fragrances do that to me, call me a weirdo if you like :P)
Overall, I feel that the Plum Chamomile & White Tea Sheer Matte Day Cream is one of the best sunscreens for those with oily skin because it protects the skin from the sun rays and also nourishes it from within. Priced at INR 520 for a 60ml tube that will last you a really long time, this cream is quite reasonably priced for its high SPF. So, do check it out if you have oily skin and suffer from breakouts in the warmer months.
