Battle of the Concealers | Loreal True Match vs Maybelline Fit Me vs Maybelline Age Rewind vs Wet n Wild Photo Focus vs L.A. Pro Conceal vs Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define

Many moons ago I wrote a blog post titled the Battle of the Foundations, which is still one of the most read posts on the blog. So today I am writing a similar post about not 2, not 3 but 6 different concealers! Yes, today I will compare the different attributes of  Loreal True Match, Maybelline Fit Me, Maybelline Age Rewind, Wet n Wild Photo Focus, L.A. Girl Pro Conceal and Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define concealers. I already have detailed individual reviews of each of these concealers on my blog, but today I will be talking more about how these products fare in comparison to each other. This is gonna be a long one folks, so grab a cuppa before you read on!

Packaging – Most of these concealers come with doe foot wands, but the L.A. Girl Pro Concealer comes in a squeezy tube with a brush which I personally dislike while the Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer comes in a twist up packaging with a sponge that gets a little messy but I have made my peace with it.

Battle of the Concealers | Loreal True Match vs Maybelline Fit Me vs Maybelline Age Rewind vs Wet n Wild Photo Focus vs L.A. Pro Conceal vs Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Swatches Review

Texture – The Maybelline Age Rewind is definitely the thinnest in consistency, which makes it perfect for crease-free application in the under eye region. The Wet n Wild Photo Focus and the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define are the creamiest and thicker formulas but these too blend quite easily and don’t look cakey. The L.A. Girl Pro Concealer, Loreal True Match and Maybelline Fit Me have similar medium creamy consistencies and are some of the easiest formulas to blend and work with, especially if you are new to wearing makeup.

Coverage and Pigmentation – The Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define concealer has the fullest coverage among all the contenders. The Maybelline Age Rewind has the sheerest coverage but it too can be built up to a decent medium. The rest of the concealers have medium coverage that is buildable to a full coverage.

Shades – The L.A. Girl Pro Concealer comes in the largest range of shades as far as I know (24 shades on Nykaa), which is commendable. The Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define comes in 15 shades in India, Loreal True Match in 9 shades, Maybelline Fit Me and Age Rewind in 6 and 8 shades respectively, and the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Concealer is available in 6 shades in India. The L.A. Girl Pro Medium Beige (GC978), Loreal True Match Light/Medium (N4-5) and the Maybelline Fit Me Medium (25) are the closest to my actual complexion and work the best at covering blemishes and neutralizing the under eye area. The Maybelline Fit Me Sand Sable (20), Wet n Wild Photo Focus Light/Medium Beige (E841B) and the Maybelline Age Rewind Medium (130) work well as brightening concealers for the under eye for me. The Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define in the shade C9 is a little too pink and bright for me and probably C8 would be a better fit.

Price – Most of these concealers fall in the price bracket of INR 400-600, which is very reasonable for their quality. The Loreal True Match concealer is slightly expensive, and is priced at INR 999.

My Verdict – Even though all these concealers are great at something or the other, I personally prefer the shades and formula of the Loreal True Match Concealer and the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer for my skin type and complexion and reach for these two when I want to go for something that is easy to work with and provides failproof results.

So, this was my lowdown of all the concealers I have tried in the recent years, I hope that you found this comparison useful. If so, please let me know what products would you want me to compare next in the comments below!

P.S. All these concealers are available on Nykaa.com

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind – Dark Circle Eraser | Review

I have been very hesitant in writing this review since a long time. The Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser is something that a majority of the beauty community raves about, but it took me a long time to fall in love with this product. While my initial thoughts about the concealer were not very positive, over time, this has become my favorite under eye concealer. So here is the story of what I did not like about the product in the beginning and what changed my mind about it after a few months of use.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser Concealer Review

The first thing that I did not like about the product was its packaging, I never get along with twist up packaging because it is very difficult to gauge how many twists are required to get the right amount of product on the sponge. Also, the sponge applicator looks cute but I do have to blend the product in with my fingers or a makeup brush anyway, so it seemed a little gimmicky to me. Furthermore, I purchased the shade Medium which seemed a little too light for my skin tone, which is why I placed the product in my box of concealers and forgot about it. However, when I kept on reading great reviews all over the Internet, I decided to give it one more shot.

Once I looked beyond the mess caused by the twist up packaging, I realized that this concealer has the perfect consistency for the under eye area. It is thinner than most of the concealers I own and therefore tends to settle much less in the fine lines beneath the eyes. As for the shade, while it was still too light for my liking, applying this concealer before foundation did the trick because the layer of foundation on top helped to darken the color but the brightness provided by the concealer was still able to counteract my dark circles. The first time I had tried this product, I belonged to the “concealer on top of foundation” school of thought but the second time around, reversing the steps made this product work like a dream for me. I had never felt that I needed two different concealers for my eyes and face but after using the Maybelline Dark Circle Eraser, I came to know that a thinner concealer for the under eye area looks way more flattering than a creamy one.

And here is one after applying only the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser (I applied some on my lids as well) –

As you can probably tell, the concealer instantly brightens up the under eye area and does not exaggerate my fine lines in an ugly manner. The shade medium definitely has some hints of yellow undertones that make it ideal for light – medium Indian skin tones. The only problem is that Maybelline has not released this product in India yet (Why, Maybelline, why? We Indian women have dark circles too!) and so you can purchase it only from sites like Amazon where it is priced at more than a 1000 bucks. I would say that it is still worth the buy because the product lasts a long time, but knowing that it is available in other countries at drugstore prices does make me wish that it was cheaper. So if you are willing to pay so much or are traveling to another country where this concealer is more affordable then do buy it to get a brighter under eye area in a jiffy! Here’s hoping that Maybelline releases this concealer in India soon!

I hope that this review was helpful. You can buy the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser – Treatment Concealer here.

EDIT: It seems like the Makeup Gods heard my prayers! This concealer is now available in India for INR 650 on Nykaa.com 🙂  Click this link to buy.
