I was kindly sent the April Edition of the ZoBag a few days ago, and I was impressed that this edition of the bag contains not 5, not 6, but 7 different products for INR 499 only! The total worth of this month’s bag is INR 1566 and there are a couple of products that make this bag extremely attractive for a skincare junkie like me. Read on to find out all the contents of the April ZoBag.
There was a point in time when the Ponds Pimple Clear Face Wash was my go to daily face wash to keep the acne in check. However, Ponds changed the packaging of this product a few months ago and as far as I know, they changed the formula of the face wash too. I have had a hard time adjusting to the new formula and although it is a fairly decent face wash for the price, it is just not as good as the original formula.
This face wash is specially designed for acne prone skin and the original formula did dry up my pimples pretty quick and reduced the production of oil. The new formula, on the other hand, does get rid of the greasiness but does not shrink the pimples as effectively as before. With the original formula, my skin would start behaving much better in a few days but this one only improves the condition of my acne but doesn’t get rid of them completely. My other major qualm with the product is its scent. The original formula had a fresh scent which I quite enjoyed but this one has a pungent herbal smell that lingers on my face, which I genuinely dislike.
If you want my unbiased opinion, without comparing it to the original formula, then I would say that the Ponds Pimple Clear Face wash is one of the most effective budget face washes for acne prone skin in India. It does remove grease and dirt from the pores and makes the skin non-greasy for the next couple of hours. There are more effective face washes for eradicating acne but none are as affordable as this drugstore product. However, since I have been a lover of the original formula, I can’t help but compare this new version to its former self and that leaves me a tad disappointed.
Personally, I won’t be purchasing this face wash again because of the new, annoying scent. If, however, you are not as sensitive to scents as I am and are on a tight budget, you may want to give this product a go. This is one of the reasonable options for students who are most prone to suffering from breakouts yet cannot afford luxury skin care. Priced at INR 69 for a 50gm tube, this face wash cleanses the face gently yet effectively and is definitely a boon for the oily skinned ladies (save for the scent).
I hope that this review was helpful. You can buy the Ponds Pimple Clear Face Wash here.
I know that the Lakme Eyeconic Kajal has been around for a long time, however, I never tried the shade, Deep Black, because I felt that there were more affordable drugstore options for a simple black kajal. Lakme recently dropped the price of this product to INR 180, and I thought that it was finally time to give this one a shot. This is going to be a thorough review because I have already finished up one pencil and am on my second one at the moment!
This Kajal pencil is a retractable one, which is perfect for a lazy girl like me who tends to lose all her sharpeners! The formula is super creamy and the shade is jet black, I feel that it is creamier and blacker than the different variants of the Maybelline Colossal Kajal. The only downside of the tip being so soft is that it tends to break if you apply too much pressure, so be gentle while using this pencil.
In terms of longevity, it lasts for about 4-5 hours, after which it fades around the corners of the eyes. The color stays put on the rest of my waterline for a good 8 hours. This is neither smudge-proof nor waterproof, however, the formula is extremely gentle and better suited for sensitive eyes than most smudge-proof kajals. My eyes tend to get irritated very quickly but they don’t react at all to this kajal because it does not tug at the waterline while application and does not contain any ingredients that may sting the eyes.
As I mentioned before, this eye pencil is available for INR 180 as of now and I really hope that Lakme does not increase the price again. I would go ahead and state that this is the best affordable kajal in the market, in my opinion. If you are stepping out of the house only for a few hours and do not really need something that is budge proof, the Lakme Eyeconic Kajal might be the perfect product for you!
There isn’t a single infant in my family but you can still find a tube of baby cream in each room of my house. “Why?”, you may ask. Simply because it is extremely gentle and has so many diverse uses. Here are 5 unconventional uses of baby cream that make this tiny tube an absolute essential for my makeup bag.
1. Relief from Rashes – Be it itchy rashes in your nether regions due to menstrual pads or the painful line left behind by tight trousers, baby cream will definitely provide instant relief. Just slather the creamy formula on irritated skin for a calming effect. The rash will disappear within a few hours.
2. Hair Mask – Believe it or not, baby cream can also double up as an amazing hair mask. This trick comes in handy when you are travelling and do not wish to carry too many products with you due to risks of spillage. Apply some cream to the ends of your hair and rinse thoroughly after 10-15 minutes for smooth and luscious locks.
3. Foot Cream- For super soft feet, douse them with generous amounts of baby cream and leave it on all night. Wear a pair of socks to bed to seal the moisture in place. You will wake up to baby smooth feet. This is yet another great use for baby cream, to rejuvenate the tired feet while travelling.
4. Overnight Lip Treatment- If you develop rough, blackened patches on the lips then applying a thin layer of baby cream before going to bed might be really helpful. The lips will become incredibly soft in a few days and the pigmentation will also disappear.
5. Solution for Scaly Skin- Sometimes, you may develop scaly skin as a result of drastic climate change or an allergic reaction. In such scenarios, application of baby cream to the affected areas, twice a day, will alleviate the symptoms within a few days. However, make sure not to apply the cream to broken skin.
Baby cream is a great travelling companion because it combines the efficacy of a lot of different products, thereby reducing the volume of liquids you need to pack. It is an inexpensive cure for an array of beauty issues, which is safe for sensitive skin as well. Next time, do give baby cream a shot before reaching out for costlier products.

Red lipsticks are very tricky to wear and choosing the right shade and formula can be an arduous exercise. From bleeding to staining the teeth, red lipstick goes everywhere! The Maybelline Colorshow red lipsticks are drugstore classics, and my favorite is the shade Big Apple Red (206).
The color of this lipstick is perfect for me, it is red but not too over the top and has very faint hints of pink that help the teeth look whiter and provide a softer effect. It looks a bit orangey in the bullet but on the lips it is more of a pink toned red that is very versatile and goes with a lot of outfits. The formula is a comfortable matte that lasts forever! It fades gradually but the color still stays on after 8 hours and multiple rounds of eating and drinking. It may bleed a little but that is true for any red lip color and something that can easily be rectified with a red lipliner. To top it all it smells like yummy candy!
Priced at INR 325 for 3.9 gms, this lipstick definitely qualifies as a beauty bargain. Also, if this shade is not up your street, there are several other color options in the same formulation to choose from! When it comes to drugstore lipsticks, you can’t really go wrong with the Maybelline Colorshow range 🙂

I am back with the second post of my beauty bargains series and today I will be talking about a wonderful face product. I am yet to find a good high coverage foundation that is priced at less than INR 500, therefore I am going to talk about a CC Cream instead. The Lakme CC Cream has been around for some time now but they have recently upgraded the packaging and have relaunched it as a part of their 9 to 5 range.
I love the Lakme CC Cream in the shade Bronze for the days when I do not want porcelain perfect skin but do not want to leave my face entirely bare either. It provides light to medium coverage that is quite buildable. The scent is fresh and citrusy, which is perfect to wake me up in the mornings. The formula is moisturizing and light but does hide some pigmentation and smoothens the finish of the skin.
The color looks a bit orange in the swatch but is perfect for my complexion once blended. It is the ideal product for daily wear that provides a glow to the skin and also protects it with SPF30.
A 30 gm tube of this product is priced at INR 325, making it much more affordable than most light coverage foundations available in India. It lasts on the face for around 5-6 hours if you stay in a cool and non-humid environment. It can also be reapplied in the middle of the day without the texture getting cakey.
My only issue with this product is that it comes in only two shades, but if you do find a shade that matches your skin tone then it is definitely a beauty bargain recommended by me.
Hello everyone, I hope you are having a great day! I have decided to start a weekly series of posts about very affordable beauty and skincare products. The cost of most of these products will be less than INR 500 but I will try to find products that are even cheaper! These products are an excellent choice for beginners and those who just don’t want to spend too much money on makeup. I am kick starting this series with an extremely inexpensive eyeliner that I adore, the Lakme Insta Liner.
This is the first eyeliner that I ever purchased, simply because it is priced at only INR 110 for a 9 ml bottle and can be found at discounted rates on various shopping sites. The little bottle lasts me at least a couple of months and does not dry out even when stored for much longer durations. It is a matte black eyeliner with a thin applicator that resembles a paint brush. The brush is perfect for those who are experimenting with eyeliners for the first time as it is easy to control and can be used to create both a natural look as well as a dramatic one.
The formula is quite decent for the price, it is reasonably water resistant when dry but is not smudge proof. You may need a couple of swipes to get a true black color but the product is quite buildable and not patchy at all. Give it a few minutes to dry after application to achieve a dark, matte black look. It lasts on the eyes for up to 8 hours, but starts fading a little after a couple of hours and does not remain the blackest of black by the end of the day.
A very important factor is that although it is affordable, this formula does not irritate the eyes at all. When it comes to your face and especially your eyes, you should not compromise on quality at the risk of allergic reactions or long term damage. Lakme is a trustworthy brand and I can personally vouch that their products are perfectly safe and suitable for sensitive skin and eyes too.
I usually go for a very thin line just to define my lashes but today I created something a little more dramatic to show what you can achieve with this product. You just need to be careful not to rub your eyes because this product will smudge, bleed and even disappear if touched, but otherwise has great longevity. I believe that it is the best eyeliner available in India for such an incredible price and would definitely recommend it to everybody.
