Rosehip Oil is an ingredient that my skin loves, and it always helps with my pigmentation, while nourishing and hydrating my skin. Helichrysum oil is an ingredient that is often referred to as a miracle ingredient because it promotes skin regeneration and also has anti-microbial properties. The Suganda Helichrysum Rosehip Serum combines the potency of both these products into a facial oil that is a boon for pigmented, acne-prone skin. I have been testing out this product for over a month now and here are my thoughts.
Tea Tree Oil is a powerful anti-bacterial ingredient that is extremely effective at curbing acne and skin infections. Needless to say, this magical essential oil is the star ingredient in a number of skincare products that are targeted for oily and acne-prone skin. Hence, there are a number of ways in which Tea Tree Oil can be incorporated into the skincare routine. Here are some of the benefits of tea tree oil in its various forms –
Tea Tree Oil Concentrate – Tea tree oil concentrates are the purest forms of the ingredient available in the market. The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil is an excellent choice because it combines 15% tea tree essential oil with tamanu oil that helps with healing and renewing the skin. The best way to use tea tree oil concentrates is to apply the oil directly to active acne with a cotton swab. As an overnight spot treatment, tea tree oil will help in drying out angry breakouts within a day or two and is therefore perfect when you are prepping your acne-prone skin for a special event.
Tea Tree Oil Masks – Tea tree oil face masks help to suck out all the dirt, grime and sweat from the pores while providing a cooling and soothing sensation to irritated skin. These face masks typically combine the purifying properties of clay with the anti-bacterial action of tea tree oil to ensure the all-round health of the skin. Using a tea tree oil face mask once or twice a week is a great way to prevent new breakouts and to nip acne in the bud.
Tea Tree Oil Scrub – The addition of tea tree oil to scrubs adds anti-acne properties to the exfoliating product. Tea tree oil scrubs will unclog your pores while calming your skin and shrinking the acne. These scrubs remove the dead skin and provide a smoother and more youthful look to the skin. These scrubs are perfect for those with dull and acne-prone skin. I personally enjoy The Body Shop Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub because it leaves my skin thoroughly refreshed and rejuvenated as well as acne-free.
Tea Tree Oil Face Wash – Tea tree oil face washes are some of the mildest ways of adding tea tree oil in your skin regimen. If you are new to the ingredient then a face wash containing tea tree oil is a good way to acclimatize your skin to the oil. Tea tree oil face washes are great at removing excess sebum in the morning or at the end of the day while reducing the appearance of pimples. You can also use a tea tree oil face wash to wash your makeup brushes, its anti-bacterial properties will kill any bacteria on your brushes and will prevent acne caused by dirty makeup brushes.
If you are someone with oily and acne-prone skin, tea tree oil can prove to be your skin’s best friend. You can choose to incorporate any or all of these tea tree oil based products in your skincare routine to get back your flawless, glowing skin.
I started this blog almost a year ago but my love for makeup goes way beyond that. I was the kid who secretly retouched her lipstick after a school performance was over and the bride who silently missed her falsies once the wedding festivities gave way to the daily grind. Between the two phases, I was the teenager with blemished skin, whose peers were as prejudiced as you would expect kids that age to be at recognising the beauty that lies beneath the temporary curtain of pimples. This is how I was introduced to the world of foundations and concealers when I started attending college.
For the longest time, I believed that most skincare products were either ineffective or way beyond my budget. This skewed perception was perhaps caused by poor experiences with certain anti-acne drugstore products as a young kid who didn’t know her salicylic acid from her benzoyl peroxide, and also by the impatience I developed over the years that caused me to reject a lot of products if they didn’t show visible results within a week or so.
When I started blogging, it was primarily to share what I had learnt about makeup and skincare over the years with whoever cared to listen, but in the process, I also stumbled upon great bloggers who offered amazing product recommendations and some lesser known skincare brands who were just starting out but their products were way more effective than the big names in the industry. Thus began a tryst with skincare that made me fall in love with the lotions and potions, the exfoliating acids and soothing gels that actually started to improve the texture of my skin with time. After around 6 months or so, I reached a point where I was completely comfortable stepping out of the house sans makeup, a first for me in my adult life.
It was not just the efficacy of these new skincare products that I discovered but also the newfound patience that came with age, and the fact that I actually starting enjoying my 5 step skincare routine that enabled me to step out of the house without a drop of foundation on my face. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my makeup, but it is now more of a choice and a creative outlet than a daily chore or a self-imposed obligation.
I am extremely grateful for the messages I receive on Instagram asking for product recommendations. Some of these kind followers are brides to be while others are those in their late 20’s who are looking for ways to fight those fine lines. Most of the inquiries that I get are for skincare products, not for that perfect lipstick shade or the best foundation. This means that at the end of the day, almost everybody wants to enhance and celebrate their natural beauty. Makeup does add a special touch for certain occasions by providing a hint of sparkle and a dash of colour but will never look as good if you do not take care of your skin. This is the biggest lesson I have learnt in my one year as a beauty blogger and this is the message that I wish to propagate among all the girls who are struggling to meet the so-called “standards of beauty”.
At the end of the day, I know that I may never get rid of those dark circles completely or may never have perfectly flawless skin, but what the lovely women of substance I follow on WordPress and Instagram have taught me is that I am still beautiful, with or without makeup, and so are you!

There was a point in time when the Ponds Pimple Clear Face Wash was my go to daily face wash to keep the acne in check. However, Ponds changed the packaging of this product a few months ago and as far as I know, they changed the formula of the face wash too. I have had a hard time adjusting to the new formula and although it is a fairly decent face wash for the price, it is just not as good as the original formula.
This face wash is specially designed for acne prone skin and the original formula did dry up my pimples pretty quick and reduced the production of oil. The new formula, on the other hand, does get rid of the greasiness but does not shrink the pimples as effectively as before. With the original formula, my skin would start behaving much better in a few days but this one only improves the condition of my acne but doesn’t get rid of them completely. My other major qualm with the product is its scent. The original formula had a fresh scent which I quite enjoyed but this one has a pungent herbal smell that lingers on my face, which I genuinely dislike.
If you want my unbiased opinion, without comparing it to the original formula, then I would say that the Ponds Pimple Clear Face wash is one of the most effective budget face washes for acne prone skin in India. It does remove grease and dirt from the pores and makes the skin non-greasy for the next couple of hours. There are more effective face washes for eradicating acne but none are as affordable as this drugstore product. However, since I have been a lover of the original formula, I can’t help but compare this new version to its former self and that leaves me a tad disappointed.
Personally, I won’t be purchasing this face wash again because of the new, annoying scent. If, however, you are not as sensitive to scents as I am and are on a tight budget, you may want to give this product a go. This is one of the reasonable options for students who are most prone to suffering from breakouts yet cannot afford luxury skin care. Priced at INR 69 for a 50gm tube, this face wash cleanses the face gently yet effectively and is definitely a boon for the oily skinned ladies (save for the scent).

If you follow me on Instagram or are a regular reader of this blog then you might already know that I am obsessed with the Greenberry Organics 3 in 1 Mud Ash. The brand has recently released a ton of new products but what attracted me the most was the Anti Acne Mud Mask For Oil-Prone Acne. The fact that this mud mask is specifically designed for acne-prone oily skin and has a formula comprising of 100% natural ingredients made this product too tempting not to try. I have been using this mud mask diligently, ever since it was delivered to my doorstep and here are my thoughts on its performance.
This mud mask comes in a vibrant yellow packaging and as soon as you unscrew the lid, you will be greeted by a soothing herbal scent that is reminiscent of fennel seeds. The consistency of the product is soft and creamy and it spreads on the skin quite easily. As for the formula, it contains the goodness of 8 herbs and the list of ingredients includes Calendula, Kaolin Clay, Calamine extracts, turmeric, neem, basil, chandan, aloe vera, and rose water, all of which are known for their multiple skin benefits, particularly for acne-prone skin. Full points to Greenberry Organics for creating a product that combines the goodness of herbs that have been used in skincare treatments since centuries. If you are too busy to make homemade masks, which require procurement of all these ingredients, then this mud mask is the next best thing because it is completely natural and is also free of parabens and phthalates.
The scent of this product was enough to assure me that it will work wonders on my skin, and it did! On rinsing off the product after leaving it on my face for around 20 minutes, I could see that my face was glowing and that the mud had absorbed all the excess oil and had left my skin squeaky clean and non-greasy. To top it all, this product caused a visible reduction in the size of my pimples with the very first use, and I am sure that with regular usage, this mask will definitely reduce the appearance of acne as well. Bear in mind that this product is targeted for oily skinned people and therefore can be a bit harsh on normal to dry skin. If you have oily skin and suffer from frequent breakouts, this product is tailor-made for you. You will have to be a little careful while packing it for a holiday though because the packaging is not completely leakproof even though the performance is completely foolproof.
This mud mask is priced at INR 725 for 100gms of the product but is usually available at great discounted rates on Amazon. The price may seem a little steep but when you compare it to the international skincare brands, it is way more affordable considering the quality of ingredients, the quantity of the product in a jar, and the fact that this mask is devoid of any harmful chemicals. Greenberry Organics is a brand that has truly impressed me with the range of wonderful and carefully concocted products that they have released in such a short amount of time. Even if you do not have oily skin, you must check out some of their other masks that are designed for normal and dry skin tones, as well as their range of body washes, facial mists, and face washes. I am sure that you will find several products that you love. To conclude, the Greenberry Organics Anti Acne Mud Mask For Oil-Prone Acne is totally worth all the hype that it has been receiving and I can’t wait to find out what other skincare gems the brand plans to release in the future.
I hope that this review was useful. I will highly recommend all the ladies with oily skin and acne troubles to click on this link and buy the Greenberry Organics Anti Acne Mud Mask asap!
Years before the benefits of clay were recognized by international skincare brands, a humble product could be found on the Indian dressers, one that provided the goodness of kaolin that is known to cure several skin issues. I still remember my mother showering praises upon the Lacto Calamine Daily Nourishing Lotion for controlling acne and healing blemishes. This oil-balancing lotion, being one of the products that I received as a legacy from the beautiful women of my family, has always held a special place in my heart.
Today, this product comes in two variants, the original formula meant for normal to oily skin and a new version that is more suitable for dry skin. The formula for normal to oily skin is what best suits my needs because it offers oil control and reduces the appearance of acne. Some of the ingredients of this lotion are kaolin, known for its oil absorption and exfoliating properties, zinc oxide, known for controlling acne, and glycerin, which is an effective moisturizer. Basically, this combination of ingredients is all that someone with blemish prone skin could ask for.
I recently ran out of my favorite Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Mattifying Lotion and couldn’t find it in stock on any online store. This is when I decided to fall back on the trusted Lacto Calamine which I always buy backups of. This product is equally good at oil absorption when compared to the lotion from The Body Shop but is slightly more hydrating and gentle on the skin. It keeps my face non-greasy for hours, and after using it for approximately a week, I can notice that my blemishes have faded a little as well. This is a water based product that is extremely light weight and if you want to make it more potent, you can add a small drop of tea tree oil to the lotion before application. Additionally, it forms a great base for makeup and makes my foundation last slightly longer too!
There is only one thing that I would like to change about the product – the dispenser. It currently comes in a wide necked bottle that always dispenses more product than I need, and I would love a smaller opening with a flip cap instead. Other than this minor qualm with the packaging, I adore everything about this lotion, from its pleasant earthy scent to its mattifying action. If you have oily skin then I would highly recommend trying this lotion as your daily moisturizer to see visible improvements in the texture of your skin within a few weeks. Priced at INR 110 for a 60 ml bottle, this product is proof of the fact that there are so many gems at the drugstore that get outshined by the dazzle of the fancier brands although they are equally good in terms of quality and performance. Hopefully, this blog post will allow some of you ladies to save your money and give a chance to this oldie but goodie!
I hope that this review was helpful, you can buy the Lacto Calamine Skin Balance Daily Nourishing Lotion here or at any drugstore in India.
As the heat intensifies, makeup takes a back seat because the skin begs to breathe! As dramatic as it may sound, many people suffer from the worst skin during the summer months. Any form of instant relief is highly appreciated during the days of terrible breakouts and redness that accompany the warm weather. The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion is one such instant remedy that calms down my skin.
I use this lotion as a day cream whenever I suffer from hormonal breakouts. It immediately mattifies my skin and the tea tree oil helps in reducing the redness and irritation. It also prevents further acne and shrinks any swellings that are early signs of gigantic pimples.
The formula is very light and almost like a gel. A tiny drop is sufficient for the face and the neck and it keeps the oil at bay for a few hours. I have also noticed that makeup applies really well on top of this lotion. In fact, I often skip primer when I use this product. As far as I know, this lotion does not contain any SPF, so you will need an additional step of applying sunscreen before you step out of the house.
Priced at INR 995 for a 50 ml tube, this product is on the pricier side but it works as a great moisturizer for the days when your skin is too oily and temperamental. I would highly recommend this product to those with extremely greasy and acne-prone skin, the antibacterial action of this mattifying lotion will work wonders for you!
If you wish to bid goodbye to red cystic acne then this product might prove to be your best friend. The Vichy Normaderm Night Detox cream works efficiently on sore and stubborn pimples that do not seem to budge at all. It provides stunning results within a few hours by shrinking them, and regular usage gets rid of them completely.
I use this cream when all other remedies and products fail to help with clearing up my skin. It is an overnight treatment which has a semi-liquid consistency and is light and non-greasy. This cream is very potent and only a tiny amount is enough, if you use too much then it might sit like a thin film on your face. I apply this before going to bed to only the parts of my face where I have acne. The product can also be applied to the entire face to make the skin radiant and less oily. The formula is paraben free and does not irritate my skin at all, however, it has a strong scent that might bother some people.
The product is a little expensive (priced at INR 990 for 40ml) but one tube lasts me a very long time. I like that the tube has a tiny opening that prevents wastage of the cream. I feel that the formula is a little harsh for daily use and should be reserved for the days when the skin is particularly messed up. I highly recommend it for immediate rescue from acne when you have a special occasion around the corner.

Whenever I have some exciting event to go to, life always throws a curve ball in the form of nasty pimples. The Lotus Herbals Tea Tree Clear Face Pack is my best friend when it comes to shrinking these pimples within a few minutes. It is a clay based mask nourished with the goodness of tea tree oil and other herbs that help to combat acne and provide blemish-free skin.
The pack instructs to apply the product to clean skin and allow to dry completely for around 20 minutes and then rinse off. I like that the product does not stretch out the skin or make it excessively dry. It absorbs excess oil and leaves the skin fresh and glowing. I really love how it provides instant brightness to the skin along with working on acne.
A 60 gm tube of this face pack is reasonably priced at INR 165. Lotus Herbals is a brand that has always impressed me with the quality of its products and this one is no exception.
