Sugar Nothing Else Matter Lipsticks | Review and Swatches

The Sugar Nothing Else Matter Lipsticks have been around for quite some time, but I got around to trying them only recently and have been completely bowled over by the formula and the shades. Here is my review of these matte lipsticks along with swatches of some of my favourite shades from the range.

The Packaging

The packaging of the Sugar Nothing Else Matter lipsticks is quite similar to that of the Sugar Never Say Dry Lipsticks, only slightly shorter and wider. They also have 12 limited edition shades (not sure whether they will be made permanent or not) that come in a way prettier black and gold packaging, and are priced at INR 599 whereas the regular shades in the standard black packaging are priced at INR 499. If you are not a packaging junkie then you may find it a bit impractical to spend INR 100 extra for certain shades just because of the packaging, but I feel that they are still pretty affordable for the quality of the product.

The Formula

The Sugar Nothing Else Matter Lipsticks are richly pigmented and offer opaque coverage on the lips in 1-2 swipes. The formula is somewhere between a velvety and a creamy matte and does not have any sheen to it. These lipsticks are very comfortable to wear all day long and do not tug at the lips or exaggerate any dry patches. In fact, they feel hydrating on the lips and have a slight slip to them. I will not recommend layering them up too much though, because that might lead to crumbling of the product on the lips, so if you have to touch up the lipstick then first blot the existing product with a tissue and then go in with a fresh layer on top of it.

These lipsticks do transfer a bit every time I eat or drink something but not too much. After an oily Indian meal, the colour fades only from the centre of the lips and remains intact on most part of the lips. I would say that it is fairly transfer-proof for a non-drying bullet lipstick. If you do not eat anything heavy, the colour will last on your lips for a good 8 hours. The formula does not stain the lips and can be easily removed with micellar water or an oil-based cleanser.

The Shades

The Sugar Nothing Else Matter Lipsticks come in 34 different shades (including 12 limited edition shades) and I love that the shade range caters to a wide spectrum of Indian skin tones. There are pinks, reds, browns and berry-toned shades for different complexions and I have heard that some of these shades are close dupes for some MAC lipsticks. I personally love the nude shades from these range and here are a few of my favourites –

01 Browning Glory – A peachy brown which is a medium warm-toned nude for my NC35 skin tone.

12 Teak Over – A burgundy brown with purple undertones. It is a deep, slightly cool toned nude for my skin tone.

31 Simmer Brown – A beautiful milk chocolate shade with very slight warm undertones. This is a deep nude for my skin tone.

33 Mauve On – A cool-toned pinky nude with mauve undertones. This is a light to medium nude for my skin tone.

All of these shades will complement a spectrum of Indian skin tones really well and Teak Over and Simmer Brown will be beautiful nudes for dark skin tones. Check out my lip swatches in this Instagram video.

My Final Verdict on the Sugar Nothing Else Matter Lipsticks

I might go ahead and say that the Sugar Nothing Else Matter Lipsticks are my favourite bullet lipsticks from those that I have tried so far because the shades are beautiful, the formula is comfortable, matte and long-wearing and the price is super affordable. If you like a matte finish but find liquid lipsticks too drying then these lipsticks will be a great alternative for you. Also, I love that there are shades for everyone in this collection. I urge you to try out at least one shade from this range, I am sure you will fall in love with it!
