Streax Cream Hair Colour | Shine On |Flame Red | Review

Your girl has been on a hair colouring spree lately and this is the third time that I coloured the lower ends of my hair in around 6 months. I wanted to go for a more vibrant red this time and heard from someone that the Streax Cream Hair Colour in the shade Flame Red (0.6) can give me that vibrant red hue even on my dark brown hair. Here is my review of this hair colour along with unfiltered pictures of the colour on my hair.

What you get in a box of Streax Cream Hair Colour

The Streax Cream Hair Colour comes in a box that contains the colourant and the developer along with a pair of plastic gloves, a brush for applying the hair colour, and a few sachets of hair conditioner. I personally didn’t like the quality of the brush so I used one that I already had with me, but for the price of INR 150, it is great that the pack contains everything that you need for applying the hair colour, except for a plastic bowl.

How to use the hair colour?

The box provides clear instructions on how to use the Streax Cream Hair Colour. You need to mix the colourant and the developer in 1:1 ratio in a plastic bowl and then apply it using a brush on dry, clean hair. Leave it on for 30 minutes and then rinse the colour and wash the hair with a mild shampoo. Then apply conditioner on the wet hair for 1-2 minutes (I will recommend leaving the conditioner on for 5-10 minutes for extra shine). Wash off the conditioner with cold or luke-warm water (cold water helps seal the colour better) and air dry or blow-dry the hair at a low heat setting. Make sure to use the gloves while applying the colour and sit in a ventilated area throughout the process because this hair colour contains ammonia that emanates a strong, nasty scent. Also, perform a patch test on your forearm or your neck before using this hair colour as some people may be allergic to some of its ingredients.

How long will the colour last? Will it damage my hair?

This particular shade will last for around a month on your hair, but you can extend its longevity by avoiding hot water for washing the hair, and using a purple shampoo meant for coloured hair. Since the product contains ammonia and hydrogen peroxide, it will definitely cause some damage to your hair, but if you use a good conditioner and hair mask, you will not see any visible damage (at least I did not). Once the colour fades, it may leave your hair looking a little coppery, which is when you may want to reapply the colour.

Will the shade Flame Red show up on Black/Brown hair?

The Streax Cream Hair Colour in the shade Flame Red definitely shows up way better on my dark brown hair than the other red hair colours that I have tried. It looks bright red under direct sunlight and a cherry red under a tubelight whereas the Garnier Intense Red hair colour looked more like a brownish red on my hair. This one definitely is as close to a true red that you can get with your dark hair without bleaching them blonde first.

I hope that my hair colouring adventures are offering you some useful information and tips if you are toying with the idea too. Let me know in the comments if there is a specific hair colour that you would want me to try next!
