If there is one brand that knows their matte bullet lipsticks, it has to be Spekta Cosmetics, which is why I was thrilled to know that the brand has recently launched 3 new shades in their matte range. The brand kindly sent me the three new shades – Divinity, Troublemaker and Cowgirl to review for you guys, so here I am with arm and lip swatches and my thoughts on these new lipsticks.
The Formula of the Spekta Cosmetics Matte Lipsticks
The Spekta Cosmetics Matte Lipsticks have a completely matte yet lightweight formula that lasts all day long on the lips and transfers ever so slightly when you eat or drink. The formula requires a couple of swipes to become fully opaque on the lips but does not feel cakey or lumpy at all. In fact, it is so light-weight that I sometimes forget that I have a lipstick on. These lipsticks are also cruelty-free and vegan.
The only con of this formula is that you need to drag the bullet slightly on the lips for smooth application, and unless you are a pro at applying matte lipsticks, you will need a lip liner to overline your lips precisely before going in with the darker shades. The packaging of the lipsticks is super pretty too with the silver shimmer on the black lids, although I do wish that they would add a sticker to indicate the colour of the shade on the packaging. You can read more about the formula and packaging of the matte lipsticks in my previous review of the shade Spicy Mami.
The newly launched shades, Troublemaker, Divinity, and Cowgirl are all beautiful and unique and will flatter a spectrum of Indian skin tones from fair to deep. I am a shade NC35 in Mac Studio Fix and each of these lipsticks should not wash out skin tones at least 3-4 shades deeper than mine. Each of these lipsticks is priced at INR 550, which seems like a reasonable price for the quality of the product and the packaging.
Spekta Cosmetics Matte Lipsticks – Troublemaker
The shade Troublemaker is a muted reddish pink which works as a deep nude for my skin tone. It looks browner in some lights and pinkier in others and complements my warm undertones really well. The formula of this particular shade glides on more easily than the other two shades and feels a smidgen creamier while application, although it settles down to a perfect matte finish once on the lips. I will highly recommend this shade for everyday wear as it is appropriate for both work and play.
Spekta Cosmetics Matte Lipsticks – Divinity
The shade Divinity is a fun orangey coral that is a good alternative to a red lipstick for when you don’t want to go all out with your lip colour. This shade may require 3-4 swipes to be fully opaque on pigmented lips but does not cake up as I mentioned earlier. It should suit skintones up to NC 42 without washing them out and probably even deeper skin tones as a light peach. I can imagine wearing this to a brunch party to bring more life to my face.
Spekta Cosmetics Matte Lipsticks – Cowgirl
The shade Cowgirl is a hot fuchsia pink with very subtle red undertones. It is a beautiful shade to wear to a wedding or a special occasion and it will flatter very fair to very deep skin tones. You will need a lip liner with this shade if you plan to overline your lips precisely but other than that it transfers very slightly when you eat something oily and will not leave your lips bare even after a heavy meal. It stains the lips a little like most fuchsia lipsticks but you can get it off with an oil-based makeup remover.
Overall, I love all the shades that I have tried from Spekta Cosmetics so far and I will highly recommend you to pick up at least one of these shades if you are in the market for matte lipsticks. Have you tried any of the lipsticks from this brand yet? What are your favourite shades? Let me know in the comments below 🙂
