Sometimes you come across a product so unique that you want to try it out just because of how it looks, and when this product also turns out to be effective at what it claims to do, it is a win-win situation! Today I will be talking about one such product – The Cosmetic Republic Detox Wrap which is a hair mask in a wrap format. The brand was kind enough to send me a couple of these wraps to try and here is my review of the product after testing it out on my hair.
The Cosmetic Republic Detox Wraps are hair masks that are designed to revitalize the scalp and damaged hair. These are single use wraps that have a water-resistant cap with a cream-based mask covering the inner surface of the cap. You are supposed to wrap the mask around your towel-dried, shampooed hair, like you would a towel, and then secure it in place with the sticker provided at one end. Then you can gently massage your scalp for a few minutes to let the product sink in and after 15 minutes, you can remove the wrap and wash the product off with warm water.
First, let us talk about the ease of use of this product. I feel that the product is fairly easy to wrap around your hair if you have short hair or long and fine hair like mine. Those with very long (waist-length) and thick hair may find it a little difficult to cover all their hair with the wrap. Once the wrap is secured in place though, it is very easy to go about any activity without any leakage or dripping of the product. You can either step out of the shower for 15 minutes and go about your day or can stay in and finish the rest of your bath routine. I usually like to wash and shave my body while I am wearing a hair mask and this wrap allows you to do so with ease because it is waterproof from the outside so you won’t accidentally wash off the product before the stipulated time. It is also perfect for when you are travelling because the wrap comes in a sleek sachet and is very easy to pack compared to the bulky hair mask jars. Since it is a single-use wrap, you may feel that the packaging is a little wasteful, but I will be reusing the cap for my other haircare rituals and you can find clever ways to reuse it too.
Coming to the efficacy of the product, I am happy to report that this hair mask exceeded my expectations! I was afraid that the cream was too less for my long hair but it conditioned them beautifully and left me with detangled, smooth, and silky hair with a visible shine to them. I am someone who has frizzy hair which needs a hair conditioner and a hair mask to look smooth and manageable but I did not use a conditioner before using this hair wrap and it still left me with really smooth and soft tresses. The formula contains a bunch of nourishing ingredients such as collagen, hyaluronic acid, keratin, avocado oil, jojoba, macadamia nut, almond and honey extracts which come together to hydrate the hair while improving its strength and elasticity. The wrap also provides a thermal effect to improve the efficacy of the treatment. The formula does not contain any parabens or sulphates but it does contain silicones, which I personally do not mind.
Overall, I am quite impressed with how this mask left my dull and frizzy hair looking healthy and silky in just 15 minutes. One wrap is priced at INR 840 on Nykaa and Amazon, which is a little expensive, but if you opt for this wrap instead of a visit to the salon then you will be saving a significant amount of money. I will recommend this product to those of you who have dry and frizzy hair and are struggling to revive them at home. Try this wrap and I am sure it will make your tresses look smooth and shiny.
