A few of you had asked me for a review of the Loreal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Liquid Lipsticks on my Instagram profile, so when I found a lightning deal on one of the shades on Myntra.com, I decided to pick it up. Today I will be talking about the formula of this liquid lipstick and will be sharing the swatches of the shade I Explore (116) with all of you. Keep reading to find out more about this product!

The first thing that attracted me towards the Loreal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Liquid Lipsticks was their luxe packaging. These liquid lipsticks come in a frosted plastic tube with a black and gold lid and even the black and gold cardboard box that the tube comes inside looks fancy. Holding this lipstick makes me feel like I am holding a high end product, so kudos to the brand for the packaging.

Coming to the actual formula of the product, these liquid lipsticks have quite a thin, liquidy formula with a slight creamy consistency. The product glides easily on the lips and provides full coverage in a couple of swipes. The wand of this product is also quite unique in the sense that the applicator is bent at an angle and is quite thin, but this applicator actually helps in handling the liquidy formula better and I quite like how it hugs the lips for an even application. The product sets to a comfortable matte finish on the lips within a minute or so but does not become flat matte like the liquid lipsticks from Sugar or Wet n Wild, it has more of a creamy matte finish on the lips and is light-weight and non-drying. I would say that in terms of the formula, it lies somewhere between a super long wearing liquid lipstick and a more comfortable lip cream. It is less matte than liquid lipsticks and thinner and less velvety or cushiony than the lip creams from Lakme and NYX. I must also mention here that the formula has a sweet perfumey scent which Loreal Lip Glosses also have, and it may bother those who are sensitive to fragrances.

The shade I Explore is a beautiful warm brown which is a “My Lips But Better” nude for my skin tone (NC35). It has a caramely peach undertone that looks warmer when I swatch it on my arm than it does on the lips. This shade will be a pretty deep nude for fairer skin tones and those with skin tones up to NC40 should be able to wear it without looking washed out. This shade is not opaque enough for my pigmented lips in one swipe so I need to apply two layers of the product, but layering is quite easy with this thin formula and it does not look thick or crumbly at all. My only complaint with this liquid lipstick is that it is not long wearing. It stays on my lips for around 4 hours if I don’t eat anything but if I eat anything oily it fades quite easily from the inner halves of my lips. It is not transfer-proof and transfers slightly even when I drink something. I guess that is the price that you have to pay for a comfortable formula but I do wish that it lasted slightly longer on the lips. Also, as per Stacey Castanha’s review,Β some of the darker shades leave behind a stain whereas others fade from the lips just like I Explore.

I feel that the price of INR 650 would be better justified if these liquid lipsticks lasted a little longer on the lips, but if you want a super comfortable formula that feels like nothing on the lips then you can definitely go for these. These lipsticks tick the right boxes in terms of comfort, packaging, and pigmentation but I wish that there were more shade options to choose from (currently there are seven). I do hope that the brand brings out some more shades and lowers the price of these lipsticks in the future. In the meantime, you can definitely pick up a couple of shades when these lippies are on sale provided that you don’t mind retouching your lipstick after a meal.
