Juicy Chemistry is a certified organic Indian brand with a plethora of beautiful skincare and haircare products made from clean, naturally sourced ingredients. The products from this brand are cruelty-free, vegan, and handmade, and the ingredient list does not feature any preservatives, sulphates, fragrance oils or artificial colours. Made in small batches with carefully selected ingredients, the products claim to provide results without drowning your skin in harsh chemicals. The brand was kind enough to send me two of their star products – The Tea Tree, Charcoal & Bentonite Clay Organic Face Mask, and The Lime, Ginger & Rice Organic Cold Process Soap. Read on to find out my thoughts on both these products.
No review of the brand can start without mentioning the beautiful packaging of the Juicy Chemistry products. All the products come in matte cardboard boxes with stunning artwork on them, as is evident from the picture above. The packaging also mentions the full ingredient list of the product along with its benefits and the directions to use the product. I honestly have to say that with packaging so beautiful, who wouldn’t want to indulge in an intensive skincare session!
Coming to the products, I will start with the Tea Tree, Charcoal and Bentonite Clay Mask. This product comes in the form of a soft powder which you need to mix with a humectant and use as a scrub cum mask on your face. I honestly am not much of a DIY person and usually prefer ready to use masks, but this mask comes with a wooden spoon that not only ensures hygienic use of the mask but also lets you know exactly how much product you need per use. I love how I don’t have to fiddle around with a bowl and keep mixing too much product and too much water until I am left with way too much mask to use in one go. I simply take one spoonful of the product in my palm, mix in a few drops of water to create a paste and then apply on my face in a circular motion to gently exfoliate my skin. As I mentioned before, the product is a very soft and almost spongy powder when dry, and after mixing with water, it forms a moussey paste which exfoliates the face very gently with its soft scrub particles. I also love the comforting oatmeal and almond scent of the product which makes the whole process a very relaxing experience.
You are supposed to leave the mask on your face for around 10 minutes and then wash it off with water. The mask does dry down after a couple of minutes, but it does not tug at the skin like some charcoal and clay masks tend to do. You will feel the mask drying up but won’t feel your skin stretching out. Also, it does not cause much of a sensation on my skin, except for a very slight tingle, caused probably by the tea tree, towards the end of 10 minutes. Hence, I would say that it is suitable even for those with slightly sensitive skin. After I wash the product off my face, I am left with skin that is bright and matte but not dry. After using this product 2-3 times a week, I noticed that it made my skin break out less and reduced the bumps on my face. This product is priced at INR 450, and one jar should last you at least a couple of months. I feel that this is a great investment for those with normal to oily, acne-prone skin and you will notice a difference from the first use itself.
Coming to the Lime, Ginger & Rice Organic Cold Process Soap, I could smell the zesty, lemony fragrance of this product even before I took it out of the packaging. This product claims to remove tan and brighten the skin, and with the top ingredients being lemon and rice, I was sold, because these two ingredients always help to brighten my skin no matter how many hours I have spent in the sun. The soap inside came carefully packaged in paper, and was as beautiful as the packaging, with green swirls running through a beautiful yellow. It feels a tad bit sticky to touch, but I am happy to report that it does not melt away when wet, which ensures that the product is not wasted and will give you more uses. The soap lathers quite well and cleanses the skin beautifully without stripping it dry. It does have a brightening effect on the skin from the very first use and I could especially notice a difference on my hands and feet which are usually the most tanned parts of my body.
A 90gm bar of this soap is priced at INR 550, which is a fair price for a handmade soap. If you are someone who spends long hours in the sun then regular use of this soap will definitely keep the tanning at bay. Also, if you have just returned from a beach vacation with oodles of tan, this soap will help restore your natural skin tone faster. As a bonus, the refreshing yet relaxing fragrance is a pick me up for sure.
Overall, I am super impressed with the quality of both the products from Juicy Chemistry and am looking forward to trying more items from the brand in the future. You should definitely check out their website and can even email them if you want product recommendations for specific concerns. As for their Organic Face Mask and Soap, they are definitely Lipstick For Lunch approved and you can add them to your cart without any hesitation!
