Nykaa EyemBlack Kajal | Review and Swatches

I had reviewed the Nykaa EyemBold Kajal on the blog more than a year back and that single kajal pencil lasted me for more than 12 months (there is still some product left but the tip has come off loose from the pencil). I cannot recommend that Kajal enough to those who like a bold black colour in their waterline that lasts all day. However, I decided that I wanted to try something different from the brand just for the sake of variety and went with the Nykaa EyemBlack Kajal Pencil this time. Read on to find out my thoughts on this product and to see comparison swatches with the EyemBold variant.

The Nykaa EyemBlack Kajal is a kohl pencil that needs to be sharpened and is quite similar to the Plum Goodness kajal pencil in terms of size and formulation. This one is, however, more gel-like than both the Plum kajal and the Nykaa EyemBold Kajal and has a very smooth finish. The formula glides on the waterline and provides a bold and black pigmentation in just one swipe without any tugging or dragging. I have extremely sensitive eyes and most kohl pencils tend to make my eyes water but this one does not irritate my eyes at all.

The product lasts on my eyes for a good 8-10 hours without fading or smudging. I do have watery eyes and so the pigment tends to fade a little near my tear ducts by the end of 5-6 hours, which is something I did not face with the EyemBold Kajal. Other than that, the pigmentation is pretty much similar in both the products but the EyemBold Kajal is more similar in texture to the traditional kajals and is slightly grainier, whereas the EyemBlack Kajal is more of a gel liner in pencil form. The EyemBold Kajal is more suitable for those who like a thicker line of kajal because the tip does tend to get blunter when sharpened. The EyemBlack Kajal, on the other hand, is better for those who like a thinner line of kajal, but this one too can be thickened up with multiple swipes so serves a dual purpose.

The Nykaa EyemBlack Kajal is priced at INR 375, and comes with a free sharpener. I feel that this price is fair for the longevity of the product and the smooth, pigmented formula. If you are someone who is looking for the blackest black kajal in the market which will work well as a liner too then I highly recommend the Nykaa EyemBlack Kajal to you!
