Spekta Cosmetics is an Indian homegrown, cruelty-free and vegan brand that has recently been receiving a lot of love Instagram, thanks to their beautiful matte and shimmer ranges of lipsticks. The brand was kind enough to send me two of their beautiful shades – Spicy Mami from the matte range and Sassy from the shimmer range. Read on to find out my thoughts on these stunning lipsticks.
First of all, full marks to Spekta Cosmetics for the beautiful packaging of these lipsticks! The outer cardboard box has a stunning pink and black marbled design on it while the actual lipstick casing has silver shimmer on black, which looks extremely elegant and unique. Both the matte and shimmer lipsticks come in the same packaging and the shade names are written on the bottom of the casing.
The shimmer range has unique metallic shades with gorgeous shimmer particles that reflect the light to create a stunning effect on the lips. The shade Sassy has a warm peachy undertone with golden shimmer running through it. The formula is super creamy and glides on the lips with ease. The shimmer particles are fine and do not feel gritty on the lips like glitter. This shade provides a semi-sheer coverage on the lips, so if you have pigmented lips then you may need to layer this up or use this on top of another lipstick for opaque coverage. On my lips, two coats provide a beautiful peachy golden effect which goes really well with Indian ethnic wear or with a dark smokey eye in general. The formula feels quite hydrating on the lips, and even though it does transfer every time I eat something, it lasts for a good 4-5 hours without the need for reapplication.
The shade Spicy Mami is a beautiful burnt orange-brown shade which will suit all Indian skin tones. The formula is super matte and provides opaque coverage in two coats. Since this a super matte formula in a bullet lipstick, it does drag a little on the lips during application, but once applied it does not feel drying on the lips at all. This lipstick lasts all day long on the lips and transfers only a teeny bit when I eat something. It feels very light on the lips and makes me forget that I am even wearing lipstick. It does not crease or flake on the lips and fades the slightest bit throughout the day, without the need for reapplication.
Each of these lipsticks is priced at INR 550, but they are usually available on a discount on Spekta’s website, Nykaa, and Amazon. I feel that these lipsticks provide excellent value for money considering how unique their shades are and how wonderful the formulas are. I will higly recommend picking up at least one matte and one shimmer shade from their range. They have a number of shades that will suit all Indian skin tones and preferences!
