Wet n Wild Megaglo Contouring Palette – Dulce de Leche | Review and Swatches

Despite so many brands talking about shade inclusivity when it comes to foundations and concealers, it is still hard to find a contouring product in India that shows up on medium to deep Indian skin tones. Some of the bronzers which I have used in the past, which are actually deep enough for Indian skin tones include those from Sugar Cosmetics and Makeup Revolution, but I was excited to try something new this time. The Amazon summer sale came in at the right moment, and the Wet n Wild Magaglo contouring palette that was available at a heavily discounted price caught my eye instantly. Here is my review of this product in the shade Dulce de Leche.

Starting off with what I don’t like about this product, the packaging of this product is something that didn’t have me impressed. It is made of cheap looking plastic and while the click closure locks the lid tight, it is a little difficult to open the lid without losing a nail. Also, I have a sad saga to narrate – the first time I purchased this product, I accidentally dropped it from a height of no more than one foot, and the banana powder popped out and crushed into a thousand pieces while the bronzer side remained intact. I then bought another unit of the product (to click pictures for this blog post), but I managed to salvage most of the product from the first one too and will be using that up as well! Long story short, be careful while opening the product and do not drop it because the sturdiness of this product is a little bit meh. However, since it is super affordable and I got it at half price during the sale, I can look past the packaging.

Coming to the actual product, it is half a compact banana powder and half a bronzer. The banana powder is for brightening the under eye region and any other high points of the face while the bronzer is of course for contouring. Both the powders are buttery soft to the touch and extremely finely milled. The bronzer originally seemed a little too close to my skin tone for contouring when I swatched it on my arm, but the pigment shows up more on my face and it creates a beautiful shadow effect for daily wear or even heavier makeup looks. This bronzer will be suitable for light to medium Indian skin tones, and will look particularly good on yellow toned skin because it is a beautiful golden brown (as you can see in the swatch below it is more golden bronze while the Sugar Woody Wonder is more reddish brown). This bronzer can either be blended out for a more natural look or can be built up for a more defined contour, making it perfect for all occasions.

I am usually not a powder person, I do not use any kind of setting or brightening powder on a regular basis because most powders tend to make my skin look cakey and emphasize its texture. Which is why I had picked up this product thinking that I would either end up using only the bronzer or using the banana powder only on my lids when I use eye shadow. To my surprise, I loved the fine consistency of this powder and its bright yellow toned shade so much that I have been using it to set my under eye concealer and to subtly highlight my cheekbones. This powder does not exaggerate my texture and does not look powdery or cakey in real life or even in pictures, which is something I struggle with when I use other powders. Both the bronzer and banana powder blend with ease on the skin, with a sponge or a brush, making them perfect for those who are new to contouring.

Wearing the bronzer on my cheeks and a little bit of banana powder under my eyes

This contouring palette is priced at INR 499, but is usually available for around INR 300 online, which is excellent value for money considering the quality of the formula, even though the packaging is a bit of a dud for me. It also comes in a deeper shade – Caramel Toffee, which should suit dusky to deep Indian skin tones. Both these shades will be more suitable for warm toned people though, and I don’t think these will suit cool toned skin. However, if you are someone with yellow toned skin then do pick up this affordable product for effortless contouring on a daily basis.
