Every year, I try to do one wedding guest outfit post on my blog, and since this year I am trying to join the sustainable fashion bandwagon, I will also be adding restyling tips so that you can reuse the same outfit for different weddings. I am including one traditional and one slightly more contemporary look in this edition to suit all ages, tastes and budgets. Do let me know in the comments which look do you prefer!
A good lip liner is a must if you are planning to wear a dark lipstick, especially one with a moist formulation. I was recently in the need of a deep plum lip liner to go with a lipstick I was planning to wear to a wedding, and I picked up the Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lip Liner in the shade Rich Wine from the nearest makeup counter in sight as I was in a hurry. Did this liner prevent my plum lipstick from bleeding and smudging throughout the event? Read on to find out!
Simple is a skincare brand that I have heard a large number of British beauty bloggers rave about over the years because their products are mild, effective and affordable. I was overjoyed to see that Simple finally launched their products in India on Nykaa.com and that they kept the prices in line with the drugstore prices in India, unlike some of the international drugstore brands that charge exorbitant amounts in India. The brand has launched their moisturisers, face wash, micellar water and micellar cleansing wipes on Nykaa and while I wanted to try all of them, I picked up only the wipes to begin with because I had a bunch of travelling to do. Here are my thoughts on these micellar cleansing wipes after using them on both heavy and light makeup.
I am planning to try out a bunch of new foundations in the new year and am currently eyeing all the options from Colorbar Cosmetics. The brand has a wide range of foundations for every skin type and a selection of shades that is suitable for most Indian skin tones. Here are some of my picks from the brand that are on my foundation wishlist!
I have been meaning to try Tamanu Oil ever since Bhumika from makeupandsmiles.com wrote a post about the benefits of this oil as a skincare ingredient. When I spotted that Vaunt, one of my recent favourite skincare brands, had brought out a Tamanu and Cranberry Seed Face Oil, I had to try it out. I have been using this facial oil for several weeks now and here is what I think about this product so far.Read More »
Be it for the skin or for the hair, oils are truly liquid gold! What makes these oils even better is when they are cold pressed, because cold pressed oils retain their nutrients way better than oils processed using other techniques. Today I am going to be talking about one such gem, the Soulflower Cold-pressed Castor Oil. Read on to find out how I use this product and how it fared for me.
Handbags are some of the most fruitful fashion investments in my opinion and when I truly want to pamper myself I treat myself to one! However, choosing a handbag can be quite a struggle if you want to keep up with all the latest handbag trends without burning a hole in your pocket. I recently came across Baginning.com, an online store for handbags of all kinds, and this website seems like the perfect solution to the “to buy or not to buy” handbag dilemma because they offer trendy handbag designs at extremely affordable prices! As I mentioned in my previous post, I picked up a bunch of goodies from Colourpop during their holiday sales, so today I will be talking about yet another lip product – the Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade Bumble. I picked up the shade Bumble because Mehak from peachesandblush.com mentioned on her Insta stories that this shade was her fave. I am happy to report that I have fallen in love with this shade too. Read on to find out more about this liquid lipstick!
I am a huge Kathleen Lights fan and love all her swatch videos of Colourpop products, which is why I have always wanted to try out a bunch of these products myself. However, I have been lazy about ordering from Colourpop due to the hassles of International shipping but I finally gave in and purchased a few items during their holiday sales. Today I will be talking about the Colourpop Lippie Stix in the shades Lumiere and Heart On. Read on to check out my review and swatches of these shades.
The Colourpop Lippie Stix come in a white twist up packaging and are quite similar to the Revlon Matte Burst Crayons in terms of their formulation. The formula is a super pigmented creamy matte which is quite comfortable to wear unless you have extremely dry lips. It also looks slightly satiny in some lights so it is definitely not a pure matte. These lipsticks do transfer a bit on contact but pretty much stay put throughout the day.
As for the shades I picked, the colour Heart On is a bright fuchsia which is completely blue toned and adds a lovely pop of colour to any makeup look. This one stains the lips a little but I do not mind that considering how pretty the colour is.
I was determined to pick up at least one shade created by my girl Kathleen so I went with Lumiere, which looks more taupey nude in the packaging, but on my lips, it shows up as a mauvish pink with grey undertones. This shade is quite unique for me but I do love it for the days when I am reaching for a cool-toned nude. This shade is suitable for fair to medium Indian skin tones and may wash out deeper skin tones.
Each of these lippie stix is priced at $5.50 but it is best to grab them when they are on a discount for even cheaper or when the website is offering free international shipping. Overall, I feel that these lipsticks provide excellent quality for money and have a great creamy matte formulation. I know that Colourpop offers a ton of different formulas in lipsticks and it can be a little overwhelming to pick one, but if you like any of the creamy matte crayons available in India then you will like the Lippie Stix too. Do check out the huge range of shades that they provide in this formula, I am sure you will find something that you will love!
Plum recently launched two new variants of their body butters and also had a BOGO offer running on these. The new fragrances that they launched are Creme Caramel and Berry Sorbet, and they also repackaged their original fragrances which were Fig & Vanilla and Wild Cherries & Kiwi. I picked up the Creme Caramel and the Wild Cherries & Kiwi variants and have been loving both these body butters to bits. Here is why –Read More »
