Biotique Bio Fruit Face Pack | Review

Ingredients – Multani mitti (Fuller’s earth), Geru (Garric), Yasad hhasma (Yasad bhasma), Tamator (Lycopersicum esculentum), Ananas (Ananas comosus), Kikargaund (Acacia Arabica), Paste base Q.S.

As is clear from the ingredient list, this pack combines the juices of pineapple, tomato, lemon and papaya fruit with Multani Mitti to provide a bright and flawless finish to the skin. The formula is in the form of a smooth and creamy pink face pack that glides on the skin and covers the entire face with just a scoop of the product. Upon application, I feel a warm sensation on my skin, but it goes away within a few minutes and is nothing painful at all.

Biotique Bio Fruit Face Pack | Review

I leave it on for approximately 15 minutes, and within that time, it dries down almost completely but does not tug at the skin or become too uncomfortable to keep on. Once I wash it off, my skin looks way brighter than before, and feels non-greasy but not dry or stretchy. The face pack is able to retain the moisture of the skin while removing all the gunk and grease and it also evens the skin tone and removes dullness at the same time.

Biotique Bio Fruit Face Pack | Review

Needless to say, this multi-tasking face pack has managed to impress me, I haven’t used any other formula that manages to clear out the pores so well without leaving the skin feeling parched. Also, the price point of INR 199 for a 75gm jar is completely affordable and the goodness of Ayurveda in the form of a cocktail of fruit vitamins is definitely worth the investment. If you wish to restore a youthful vitality to your face then you must give this product a try!

Schwarzkopf Bonacure Hair Activator Shampoo | Review

Do you enjoy the feeling of freshly-shampooed bouncy hair? I usually do not, because most shampoos are unable to impart any bounciness to my fine and limp hair. However, us greasy haired gals need to have each other’s back, which is why I always talk about any product that manages to impart some bounce and volume to my hair, and the latest product to join this list is the Schwarzkopf Bonacure Hair Activator Shampoo.
This shampoo is primarily meant to encourage hair regrowth but as per my personal experience, it also imparts a good amount of vitality and bounce to otherwise limp hair. The formula is in the form of a clear liquid that lathers really well and has a wonderful fragrance that lingers in the hair. A little goes a long way with this shampoo and the lather is able to get rid of all the grease and the gunk on the scalp.
Needless to say, it is a bit drying on the hair but does not turn the hair extremely dry and frizzy like a clarifying shampoo. In fact, it also has a slight smoothening effect on the hair. This helps in providing a bouncy effect at the roots and smoother hair overall. In order to prevent your hair from getting a little too dry, follow this up with an argan oil conditioner (I use the one from Moroccan Oil). Also, the product seems to live up to its actual claims of activating hair regrowth as my baby hair caused by regrowth have significantly increased ever since I started using this shampoo.
Overall, I am pretty pleased with how my hair is behaving these days and this shampoo has a huge role to play in this improvement. Although the price point of INR 840 for a 250ml bottle is pretty steep, I got it for around INR 670 on and wouldn’t mind paying even the full price when I repurchase it. If you have fine, limp hair with an oily scalp then you must try out this product!

Vya Naturals Turmeric Brightening Scrub | Review

The ancient wisdom pertaining to skincare is nothing to joke about. Like our elders often say, they had it all figured out until we came along and messed it up! This holds true almost completely when it comes to skincare and haircare rituals and many modern brands are going back to our roots to come up with products that are contemporary in their outlook yet traditional in essence. The Vya Naturals Turmeric Brightening Scrub is an excellent example of this skincare approach. This scrub is a face mask and scrub combined in one and is packed with the goodness of wild turmeric, an irreplaceable ingredient of traditional skincare rituals.
Vya Naturals Turmeric Brightening Scrub | Review
The product comes in the form of a dry powder that needs to be combined with a wet ingredient to create a face pack. The brand recommends using rose water if you have oily skin and milk or curd if you have normal to dry skin. I like using this powder mixed in with yogurt even though I have combination to oily skin.
One whiff of this powder and you will feel like you are surrounded by sandalwood and essence from a pooja. The powder not only smells amazing but is also packed with the anti-oxidant and brightening properties of turmeric along with a combination of some age-old skincare ingredients such as milk powder and besan and some contemporary and unique ones such as beetroot extracts, carrot extracts, and strawberry extracts.
Vya Naturals Turmeric Brightening Scrub | Review
The powder easily combines with the curd to form a smooth paste which I then apply all over my face. I also use the paste on my arms to get rid of the inevitable tan. I leave the paste on for around 10 minutes and then exfoliate using the same in a circular motion. When mixed with yogurt, the paste does not become overly dry on the skin and does not give a stretchy feeling. In fact, some of the moisture gets absorbed into the skin making it feel plumper than before. The walnut scrub particles are not too chunky but they exfoliate really well upon remoistening the mask and provide a medium exfoliation without being too gritty and harsh.
Vya Naturals Turmeric Brightening Scrub | Review
Upon washing off the rest of the product, my skin looks visibly brighter, and with regular usage at least twice a week, the product helps in getting rid of stubborn tanning. Also, the antiseptic properties of turmeric help curb acne and other skin infections, making this scrub the perfect choice for the humid Monsoon weather. Using this product not only makes my skin feel healthier than before but its calming fragrance also makes me feel pampered and relaxed as if I am at a spa.
Vya Naturals Turmeric Brightening Scrub | Review
Trust me, you will understand the purity of this product once you smell it and look at its texture. This is why I don’t mind paying INR 695 for a 100gm jar of this scrub. The product is effective yet gentle and does not dry out the skin at all. Basically, it combines the best of the old and the new and removes the hassle of sourcing and storing all the ingredients for making a DIY mask. So if you want a mild and effective way to sort out skin problems such as acne, dullness, and pigmentation then this turmeric scrub might be your saviour!

Maybelline Color Show Nail Color Remover | Review

Who on earth needs a review for a nail polish remover, right? Well, I am writing one anyway because you need to know about this particular nail color remover if you haven’t already. If you hate the scent of most nail polish removers and are too impatient to spend more than a couple of minutes on removing your nail paint then you must read on!

Maybelline Color Show Nail Color Remover | Review

The Maybelline Color Show Nail Color Remover does smell like a regular nail polish remover in the bottle, but once you use it on your nails, it actually leaves behind a pleasant scent. Also, this product is able to remove the more stubborn formulas with significant ease. I am talking about the gel finish nail paints and those with chunky glitter in them. Also, you need just a dab of the product for both the hands, which means that the bottle lasts for quite some time.

Maybelline Color Show Nail Color Remover | Review

The formula also claims to contain Vitamin E which is supposed to be really good for the nails. Personally, I have noticed that my nails stain less since I have switched to this nail paint remover. I am talking about the yellowing that happens on the nails when you don’t leave them bare for adequate time in between manicures (I plead guilty).

Maybelline Color Show Nail Color Remover | Review

The efficacy of this nail polish remover justifies the price point of INR 90 for a 30ml bottle. If you are in the market for a new nail paint remover then I recommend trying this one. I am sure you won’t be disappointed!

Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk | Review

Remember the good old days of cleansing milk? Back when there were no micellar waters or cleansing balms to take our makeup off in one swipe? Those were the days when double cleansing was unheard of and a makeup wipe was hard to come by in a supermarket. With the advent of these products and waterproof makeup, the trusty cleansing milks lost their sheen and were pushed to the back of many a makeup closet, and I must confess, I purchased the Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk primarily for nostalgic reasons. While it is an absolute joy to relive a teenage memory, here is how the product fared in other departments.

Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk | Review

The Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk is a rich milky cream with the classic Nivea scent that I adore. It removes light weight makeup quite easily while being extremely nourishing and hydrating – I can actually feel that my skin is plumper and softer just after using this product. However, since I always wash my face with a cleanser after using this cleansing milk, I am not sure how much I actually benefit from its nourishing properties, although my skin does feel more moisturised than usual.

Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk | Review

When it comes to removing waterproof makeup, this cleansing milk does not fare so well, especially with waterproof mascara, eyeliner and liquid lipsticks. Personally, I reserve this for the days when I am wearing less or no makeup, because it also removes the dirt and grease from the skin even when there is no makeup on it. I love its creamy texture on the skin and the fact that is so very gentle, and no, it does not sting the eyes either!

Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk | Review

Overall, the Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk is a good option for those who wear light to minimal makeup on a daily basis. It can also be a good first cleanse of the makeup removal regimen for those who prefer heavier/long-wearing makeup. An excellent cleansing milk for all skin types, I would particularly recommend this one to those with sensitive skin.

Sugar Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick – Pink Clink | Review and Swatches

Are metallic lips passe? I certainly hope not! Even though I am not a huge fan of the metallic lipsticks that are too over the top and wash most people out, I have recently bought a beautiful metallic deep pink from the Sugar Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick Range and passe or not, I am in love with this lippie! Read on to find out more 🙂

Sugar Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick - Pink Clink | Review and Swatches

The Sugar Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick in the shade 36 – Pink Clink is a deep mauvish pink with golden micro-shimmer running through it that imparts it a rose gold sheen. When I am indoors, it almost looks like a matte deep mauve on my lips but when it catches the light it gains another dimension due to the metallic sheen that also makes the lips look fuller. The shade is more suitable for the evening and would look better on medium to deep skin tones. However, there are some more metallic shades available in the range so there is something for every skin tone.

Sugar Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick - Pink Clink | Review and Swatches

Formulawise, this product is similar to the regular Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipsticks from Sugar. The thing about the Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick Formula is that you either love it or you hate it. It is quite drying on the lips but lasts really long, and is completely transfer proof unless you eat something oily. I personally love this formula but many people find it uncomfortable and observe crumbling on the inner side of the lips after a few hours. If you are used to wearing long wear liquid lipsticks then I think you should be good, provided that you exfoliate your lips and wear a lip balm under the lipstick.

Sugar Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick - Pink Clink | Review and Swatches

Overall, I really love this liquid lipstick because of the unique shade and the long-wearing formula, and I can’t really complain about the price point of INR 549 when the brand is always running discounts and an excellent rewards program on their website. Do give it a shot if muted metallic shades are your jam!

Plum Green Tea Clear Face Mask | Review

Has the monsoon humidity clogged up your pores yet? Yes? Time to stock up on some clarifying face masks and the one that I am loving lately is the Plum Green Tea Clear Face Mask. While I do love all my charcoal face masks, I sometimes feel that they are a bit too strong and a bit too trying to be used too often, which is when I reach for this product instead. Read on to find out my thoughts on the product.

Plum Green Tea Clear Face Mask | Review

This face mask has the signature green tea scent of the Plum green tea range. The formula is in the form of an extremely smooth and creamy mud mask. It glides on the skin and instantly provides a soothing, slightly cool sensation. For a detoxifying mask, this one is pretty mild, even though it clarifies the skin really well, making it perfect for those with slightly sensitive skin.

I leave this product on for almost 10-15 minutes, and by this time the mask dries up completely like a mud mask should and feels slightly “stretchy” on the skin. Upon washing off the product, my face looks visibly brighter and glowy and completely non-greasy.

Plum Green Tea Clear Face Mask | Review

What I love about this product is how gentle it is despite being able to pull out all the gunk from my pores. After a tiring day, it pumps back some life into my skin while calming it down and is also an excellent product for prepping the skin for a special event where you want to glow from within. The formula contains clay to soak up the excess oil, glycolic acid to exfoliate and brighten the skin, and green tea extracts to control acne – a perfect concoction for my skin type which is combination to oily and acne-prone.

Plum Green Tea Clear Face Mask | Review

Priced at INR 490 for a 60 gm jar, this product is quite affordable for what it does and is something that I am thoroughly enjoying in the humid weather. If you are someone who does not prefer masks that tingle and stretch the skin too much, I am sure you will love this one. Also, the fact that it is a vegan, cruelty-free product makes me favour it over others that are not. A must-have for the monsoons in my opinion!

Vya Naturals Vitamin C Face Wash | Review

Do you know what my skin loves first thing in the morning? A generous serving of freshly squeezed citrus juice! Vitamin C made a dramatic entry in the Indian skincare market last year and by now almost everyone is aware of its amazing skin benefits. A powerful anti-oxidant, Vitamin C adds a natural glow to the face and actually helps in getting rid of blemishes. Take this from someone who has struggled throughout her teenage years with persistent acne and the scars that they leave behind, this ingredient is the only thing that made a visible difference to my skin in a matter of weeks. Coming to the Vitamin C Face Wash from Vya, this product is the latest addition to my Vitamin C collection and here is what I think of it.

Vya Naturals Vitamin C Face Wash | Review

This face wash is in the form of runny, transparent-orange gel and comes in a sleek bottle with a pump. It froths pretty easily upon contact with water and you need only one pump for the entire face and neck region. Its fragrance is bang on that of freshly squeezed orange juice which is perfect for the summer months. The formula leaves the skin non-greasy and matte without that uncomfortable dry feeling. It also provides a subtle glow to my face after a sleep-deprived night which is something I definitely dig about this product.

Vya Naturals Vitamin C Face Wash | Review

The star ingredients of this product are Ascorbic Acid and Grapefruit Oil which are both sources of Vitamin C and bring their anti-oxidant and anti-aging powers to this face wash. If you are someone who is suffering from dull, oily to normal skin with blemishes, you must try this facewash out. Priced at INR 695 for a 100ml bottle, this product is a little pricey but is great value for the quality that Vya Naturals provide. Also, you can get an extra 10% off on the Vya website by using my coupon code MR10. So get-set-shop and do come back here and let me know how you liked this facewash!

Nykaa Get-Set-Click Creme to Powder Compact | Review and Swatches | Hazel Glory – 03

A quick touch-up on the go is something that every woman understands the value of, especially when you have had a long day at work and have to go out to a nice place right after. While the blessed souls can just powder their noses and head out the door, my skin has an aversion to pressed powder and immediately turns cakey and weird when it comes in contact with any compact. Therefore, for hassle-free touchups, cream compacts are my saviours. I recently picked up the Nykaa Get-Set-Click Creme to Powder Compact for these quick touch-ups and here are my thoughts after using the product for a few days.

Nykaa Get-Set-Click Creme to Powder Compact | Review and Swatches | Hazel Glory - 03
This product comes in a sleek packaging with a sponge and a mirror. The creme compact has a very smooth finish in the pot, and it applies equally smoothly on the skin. It provides a medium, buildable coverage that should be able to cover small spots and scars as well as dark circles to some extent. I went for the shade 03 – Hazel Glory, which is a warm-toned beige that matches my skin tone pretty well. The cream formula blends really easily on the skin and is quite light-weight too. After a few minutes, it settles down to a matte, almost powder finish, without the cakiness that too much powder can impart to the skin. Hence, the formula is the best of both worlds, it is not heavy or greasy like a cream foundation but is not crumbly like a powder either. The initial few minutes that the product blends like a cream allow for the formula to seamlessly melt into the skin, thereby preventing any creasing. I enjoy this product more for spot touch-ups and for evening out my under eye area than for overall application on the face, but the formula is definitely suitable for that as well.

Nykaa Get-Set-Click Creme to Powder Compact | Review and Swatches | Hazel Glory - 03

Nykaa Get-Set-Click Creme to Powder Compact | Review and Swatches | Hazel Glory - 03
Product blended out on my wrist

To sum it up, I feel that this cream to powder compact is a great on-the-go product for refreshing or enhancing your daily makeup look as and when needed. The price point of INR 599 is pretty good too considering the quantity of the product and the fact that it comes with a mirror. While I personally like to apply this product with my fingers, the sponge they provide can be useful for blending if you are using the compact on your entire face. I would say that if you are not a powder person then this product will be a right fit for you, and the fact that the brand has released 7 shades that range from light to deep makes it easier to find the right match for different skin tones. So grab yours now and I hope that this compact will become your new handbag buddy 🙂

Nykaa Get Inked! Sketch Eyeliner | Review and Swatches

Nothing says bold like a jet black matte winged eyeliner, and the Nykaa Get Inked! Sketch Eyeliner in the shade 01 – Onyx is what I have been using lately to achieve this look. While there are a whole bunch of reviews in the blogosphere about this product, here are my two cents about the product for those who are still on the fence about buying this eyeliner.

Nykaa Get Inked! Sketch Eyeliner | Review and Swatches

The Nykaa Get Inked eyeliner comes with a super thin felt tip applicator in a pen packaging. The thin tip allows extremely precise application and is perfect for those who prefer a very thin line of eyeliner for daily wear. Multiple swipes are needed to create a thicker line or a wing, which can be a little annoying if you are impatient like me, and the trouble is filling all those tiny gaps between the swipes if you do not draw them perfectly close together. However, once you have mastered using this product, the formula will definitely not disappoint. The formula is completely smudge-proof and waterproof and dries to a deep matte black within seconds. The colour payoff is amazing, as is the longevity. I have worn this eyeliner for more than 10 hours without it budging from its place, which is why it gets my nod of approval.

Nykaa Get Inked! Sketch Eyeliner | Review and Swatches

Priced at INR 450 but usually available at a discounted price on, this eyeliner is definitely a good investment for its quality. If you use an eyeliner on a daily basis then this product will be great for you, because felt tip eyeliners tend to dry faster than the bottled eyeliners. A perfect matte eyeliner that I am sure you will love!

Nykaa EyemBold Kajal | Review and Swatches

Back in the golden days, a swipe of the kajal crayon thingy from Lakme in my waterline and I would feel so made up 😛 Then came the era of retractable kajal pencils and what not and the thick smoky line of kajal got replaced by a thin black line that did not venture beyond the waterline. However, Indian eyes are best complemented by the thick line of kohl, the old-fashioned and the best way, which is why I recently purchased the Nykaa EyemBold Kajal to go back to my favourite eye look that I had abandoned several years ago.

Nykaa EyemBold Kajal | Review and Swatches

For the longest time, I refrained from buying this product because I had heard that it irritates the eyes and I have fairly sensitive ones. However, luckily for me, the formula does not sting my eyes at all and I only feel a slight sensation if the product enters the area near my tear duct. As you can see in the swatches below, the pigmentation is on point, and the product creates a jet black line in one swipe. The formula is waterproof and almost completely smudge-proof. I am someone who has to spend long hours at the office and even the most long-lasting kajals tend to bail on me due to watery eyes. This one, on the other hand, stays pretty much intact throughout the day and the intensity of the pigment stays the same for at least 8 hours.

Nykaa EyemBold Kajal | Review and Swatches

Nykaa EyemBold Kajal | Review and Swatches

Since the product is in the form of a jumbo pencil, it goes on as a thicker line on the eyes as compared to the retractable kajals available in the market. However, it is easy to control the thickness while application by adjusting the pressure you apply against the waterline. Overall, this product can give you a nice daily look as well as a smokier look for a special occasion. Priced at INR 450, this kajal comes with a free sharpener, which I feel is good value for money because a little product goes a really long way and I am sure that this kajal pencil will last me for months.

Overall, the Nykaa EyemBold Kajal receives a big thumbs up from me for bringing back memories of the good old kohl days and making me fall in love with smokier kajal again. Do try it out if you want a bold, jet black kajal that lasts all day long.
