It gives me much joy when a makeup product is affordable yet long-lasting and richly pigmented, and when this product is a liquid lipstick, I am definitely a happy camper. One such product is the Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick, I recently picked up the shade Nice to Fuchsia from Nykaa.com and have fallen head over heels in love with this lipstick. Read on to find out more about this product.
Priced at INR 499, this liquid lipstick is an absolute steal! It has a creamy texture when applied which dries down to an almost pure matte finish yet does not feel uncomfortable on the lips at all. The formula is superbly pigmented and provides a rich fuchsia colour to the lips in one swipe and stays on literally all day. This product is waterproof and does not transfer at all, but if you eat oily food, it will transfer and move around a bit on the lips till it dries down again. Basically, it is perfect for the days when you want your makeup to last all day long without any touch-ups.
The shade Nice to Fuchsia is a bright, bold pink with a bluish undertone that will flatter most Indian skin tones. However, if bright lips are not your cup of tea then I will recommend checking out other shades from this range which includes everything from stunning reds to subtle nudes. Also, this lipstick will not come off even at the end of the day with just water, so it is best to remove it with some oil-based makeup remover. However, despite its longevity, it does not leave my lips feeling chapped or flaky after several hours of wearing the product.
Needless to say, I would highly highly recommend this liquid lipstick to everybody. It is hands down the most long-lasting and comfortable liquid lipstick formula that I have tried in a long time and you simply can’t go wrong with its drugstore price. If you are contemplating buying a new liquid lipstick this season then the Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick has to be it!
Black is hands-down the most flattering colour for all body types and skin tones, however, styling black outfits in the summer months can be tricky, especially during the day. Nevertheless, this does not make me ditch my black ensembles on warm days because I know that they are some of the best pieces in my wardrobe. Here is how I recently styled a black dress for a summer brunch, to make sure that I don’t look completely out of place and inappropriately dressed for the weather.
To keep things easy and breezy, I went for a black dress with a looser silhouette and floral cutouts from Shein.com. This loose-fitting style is definitely more weather appropriate than say a bodycon dress in a dark colour. I also didn’t want to sport an all black, wintery look, so I added a splash of colour with a beautiful tassel necklace from Ajio.com and a pair of matching blue earrings. I also sported a bright fuchsia lip that definitely shouts spring.
I would have loved to pair some colourful pom-pom sandals with the outfit but since I don’t own any, I went with the golden flats from Ajio.com which are also quite summer-appropriate. Flats add a casual vibe to the dress, which would look quite formal with heels, and the gold definitely adds a fun element to the outfit.
Overall, I was super happy with the final look and would definitely sport it again on a sunny day. Are you someone who loves their black dresses all year round? Leave me a high five in the comments if you are!
Does it ever happen to you that you spot an amazing pair of shoes on the runway or in a movie but are unable to find a similar design in any of the stores or online shopping portals that you frequent? This has definitely happened to me on more than one occasion when the shoes of my dreams remain just that and I never get to sport them in reality. However, I recently came across FSJ Shoes (fsjshoes.com), an international shoe brand that has a fascinating collection of well-made shoes catering to all the latest and timeless trends. They have a huge collection of beautifully designed shoes that range from sexy high heels to comfortable flats in all the colours one can imagine. Here are some of my favourite shoes from their website that are currently topping my summer shoe wishlist and are making me drool!
Gladiator sandals ruled the roost of shoe fashion in 2017 and they are definitely here to stay in 2018 as well. With bolder designs such as thigh-high gladiators adding an oomph factor to this footwear trend, my eyes are currently set on all gladiators, heeled or flat, calf-high or barely brushing the ankles – I want them all. Following are my favourite picks from FSJ Shoes.
1. Black Stiletto Heels Strappy Knee High Gladiator Sandals
Unlike most gladiator shoes that have thin straps, these black gladiator sandals have thicker straps running up to the mid-calves which make them unique. This pair would certainly be a head turner when paired with a floaty dress.
2. Gold Metallic Heels Open Toe Stiletto Heel Gladiator Sandals
Nothing spells sophistication like a pair of delicate gold stilettoes and these gorgeous gold gladiator sandals check all the right boxes for me. I can already envision myself pairing these with a royal blue dress for an evening out with friends.
3. Royal Blue Heels Suede Stilettos Gladiator Sandals
This striking blue gladiator shoe can add a pop of colour to any monochrome outfit and is also perfect for colour blocking with a bright yellow dress. An excellent choice for when you want to stand out in a crowd.
4. Brown Gladiator Sandals Knee-high Platform High Heels
Brown is a classic shoe colour and brown gladiator sandals look amazing with an all-white ensemble. This pair will look extremely flattering on anyone and can easily transition from day to night.
On the days when you simply can’t bother with heels, this unique pair of grey gladiator flats will allow you to feel super stylish and comfy at the same time. A pair of denim shorts and a loose white shirt with these sandals is a practical yet chic look for the summer.
Not only are these wonderful designs from FSJ Shoes completely lust-worthy, the website also ships internationally, so you can easily get the best of global trends at your doorstep when you order a pair. I will definitely be investing in a number of shoes from this wishlist because FSJ Shoes provide runway designs at a fraction of the price. Which is your favourite pair from my list? Let me know in the comments below!
The crazy bath lady strikes again! But what do I do – summer is here and I get through soaps and shower gels like nobody’s business. Also, Seer Secrets was kind enough to send me their Smoky Rose Geranium Hydrating Soy Milk Enzyme Body Cleanser and it was too good not to blog about, so here we go!
First of all, this body wash smells of roses, which is one of my favourite scents in the world. Secondly, it is enriched with soy protein that nourishes and hydrates the skin, so even if you are someone who likes to hop into the shower multiple times in a day during summer, your skin will still not feel dry or flaky. Another USP of this product is that it claims to fight against body acne, and I have indeed seen an improvement in the condition of the acne on my back and shoulders ever since I started using this product. Also, the bottle with a pump provides a hassle-free experience for those who want to be in and out of the shower in a jiffy.
To be honest, every product from Seer Secrets that I have tried till date has been of excellent quality and worth recommending. They put a lot of thought into their ingredients and their bath range, including this product, is no exception. Look at the ingredient list in the picture if you still have doubts. While the price of INR 594 for a 250ml bottle may seem a little up there, this product will last you a really long time because it lathers beautifully. So do take my word for it and try it out yourself, your skin will thank you for it!
So Wet n Wild finally launched in India on Nykaa.com and I was a happy bear because this brand is known for their affordable yet high-quality products. One of the first products that I had my eyes set on was the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Concealer because even though I have almost completely ditched foundations for good, I still need some concealer for my persistent dark circles and the stubborn blemishes. This concealer is available in 6 different shades in India, which is quite good considering the limited shade range of most Indian concealers. I picked up the shade Light/Medium Beige as a gamble, based on the swatches I could find online, and here are my thoughts on the product.
The Wet n Wild Photo Focus Concealer has a creamy consistency and is slightly thicker than the Maybelline Fit Me and Loreal True Match concealers. The shade Light/Medium Beige has a slightly yellow undertone, which is suitable for Indian skin tones. Personally, I prefer my concealers to be slightly thinner/runnier than this one but despite being on the thicker slight, this product blends with ease and is not cakey at all. The shade that I picked is slightly light for my skin tone and works quite well for brightening my under eye area. It also works fine for my blemishes after some blending. I love the fact that the concealer does not crease under my eyes, which is something that I struggle with when using other concealers.
The concealer provides a light to medium buildable coverage and is more suitable for a natural makeup look. It will cover up light blemishes and pigmentation but may not be able to conceal acne scars or intense dark circles completely. However, if you pair it with a medium coverage foundation then you can easily achieve a full coverage look without your face looking overly done up or cakey. I would also like to give a special mention to the doe foot applicator that picks up just the right amount of product and minimizes any wastage, unlike some of the other liquid concealers in the market. Also, Wet n Wild is a cruelty-free brand which is definitely commendable.
Overall, this concealer has really impressed me for the price point of INR 399. It is light-weight but provides decent coverage and has a good lasting time of at least 5-6 hours. I will definitely be purchasing a slightly darker shade to mix and create the perfect shade for me and will recommend this to anyone who is looking for an affordable concealer for daily use.
The skincare brands are really upping their soap game these days and the Seer Secrets Quantum Quattro Gemstone Bath Bar is a prime example of this. This stunning gemstone green soap bar resembles a rock straight out of a Star Wars movie and can be the centre of attraction in any bathroom. Not only does this block of soap act as a talking point, it is also a great soap that has improved the quality of my much-neglected “body skin” within a few weeks. Read on find out more about this spectacular bath bar.
Priced at INR 342 for 161 gms of the product, this soap bar will last you a really long time because it is not like those soft handmade soaps that melt away really quickly. Also, it has the refreshing scent of lemons, or rather lemon candy, that will keep your bathroom smelling amazing all day long and your skin will also emanate the fragrance for a good couple of hours. The soap contains Bergamot and orange essential oil, which help to fight skin infection and make the skin healthier and smoother. It also contains natural minerals in the form of crushed gemstone powder, which add an element of luxury to the bath and offer a gentle cleansing action. I love the fact that this soap bar is made with all natural ingredients and does not contain any parabens, alcohols or dyes. It indeed provides gentle cleansing with its rich lather, and leaves the skin looking more youthful and supple. The skin of my body usually becomes dry and flaky after a bath if I don’t use a body lotion, but when I use this soap, I can even skip the moisturizer and my skin still doesn’t look dehydrated.
Overall, I am super happy with the glow that this soap has brought to my skin. I will definitely recommend it to all those who prefer using a soap bar instead of a shower gel. It is especially great for summers because of its zesty scent and refreshing feel. So do try out this soap and add some citrusy vibes to your bath!
Despite the world becoming more and more tech-savvy with every passing minute, so much so that even toddlers have their own iPads these days, many of us are still wary of online shopping. Being suspicious of these websites is justified too, many of them are in fact fraudulent, and deliver products of poor quality or often do not deliver anything at all in return for your hard-earned money. For a person like me, however, online shopping is a blessing, because running from store to store is too time-consuming and tiring for me. Here are some of the websites that I fall back on every time I have the urge to spend some money, and they usually do not disappoint.
1. Ajio.com – My go-to online destination for all my fashion needs – from jeans to footwear and amazing ethnic wear too. Ajio’s own designs are some of the most unique I have seen on the internet and their curation of clothes from other brands is also top-notch. If you are tired of seeing the same designs on every online shopping portal then ajio.com is the breath of fresh air that you need. They deliver to my location within 2 days and have a very easy breezy return policy too.
2. Amazon Prime – If it is basic stuff that you need, be it household supplies or shampoo, Amazon is my pick for you. Go for an Amazon Prime membership if you are a frequent online shopper, the free shipping and the next day delivery is totally worth it. Stick to sellers with a high rating and try to opt only for the items from the prime category and you will be sorted.
3. Nykaa.com – While I have heard many people complain that Nykaa delivers expired or fake products and has horrible customer service, I have personally never faced any such issues with them. I love Nykaa because they have the hugest collection of makeup and skincare items on one website in India and exclusively sell many international brands. If you have been away from Nykaa due to all the negative reviews you have heard about them, give them one shot and then decide for yourself because my experience has been pretty good.
So these were my go-to websites for when I am feeling spendy. Do let me know what your favourite websites are for online shopping and also let me know what your experience has been with my favourites. Keeping it short because I am sure that you want to indulge in some retail therapy now 😛 Toodles!
P.S. – Special mention to Shein.in, which is my recent favourite for affordable western wear and cutesie night clothes.
A few years back, I was going through a bad phase healthwise and this horrible cough and stuffy feeling in the nose would never go away. After multiple visits to the doctor, it was confirmed that I had some kind of an allergy to the spores in the air. The only thing that helped with the discomfort and the never-ceasing cold was vitamin C. Ever since then, I am a huge fan of anything that is a natural source of Vitamin C, which is why when Seer Secrets sent me their Sabdariffa Tisane Herbal Tea, a floral source of Vitamin C, I jumped with joy. Read on to find out more about this delightful product.
The tea is basically the pure and dried extracts of the Sabdariffa Hibiscus flower, which is a powerhouse of Vitamin C. It helps provide comfort from allergies, asthma, indigestion, nausea, and is also supposed to lower the blood pressure. To prepare the tea, you are supposed to drop one flower into a mug, pour some hot water and let it brew for a few minutes before consuming. Within a few minutes, the tea turns the water a beautiful shade of reddish brown and begins to release a sour scent. Tastewise too, the tea is quite sour, similar to sour candy, and I actually enjoy this “Khatta Meetha” taste. When you have a sore throat, this warm, sour beverage is extremely comforting.
20 gms of this tea is priced at INR 495, which may seem steep, but the luxurious glass bottle that it comes in is reusable and the tea itself is of excellent quality. The proof of this tea lies in its natural sour taste which is evidence enough of its high vitamin C content. I will definitely be stocking up on this tea because of my allergies and would encourage all of you to give this lovely immunity booster a try. The yummy taste of sour candy with the goodness of vitamin C is the perfect combination in a cup indeed!
Lipsticks are a girl’s best friend – no matter how many we own, we will always want more, and budget lipsticks are like a cherry on the cake. Today I will be talking about the much-awaited launch which falls in the drugstore and affordable category – Wet n Wild. Yessss!!! It finally launched in India! Initially, it was available online only on Nykaa but now it’s also available on HOK makeup. I had picked up three lipstick shades from the Mega Last range through an Instagram store a little while before it launched in India. There are a total of 29 shades available at the moment but they are gradually expanding the shade range. The shades I picked up were Vamp It Up (not available in India yet), Spiked with Rum, and Bare It All. The lipsticks come in a flat top bullet form and contain 3.3 gms of product for a price of INR 295.
Now let’s move on to its CLAIMS: 4 hour, long-wearing lip colour. Leaves a semi-matte cream finish in one stroke. Glides on easily with a rich, velvety colour that doesn’t cake, feather or bleed. Made with hydrating skincare ingredients.
Talking about the shades, Vamp It Up is a bold dark purple colour, Spiked with Rum is a beautiful pinky brown shade with warm undertones, whereas Bare It All is a peachy nude shade and, in my opinion, will suite pale skin tones better. On the other hand, Vamp It Up will be a delight for the bold lip lovers, it’s an unusal colour and a must have considering the bold lip trend. Spiked With Rum will be a good option for the nude lip lovers. It is subtle and would cater to all skin types – it would be a perfect nude lip colour for our bronzed beauties and a darker nude lip for fair skinned beauties.
Pigmentation: The pigmentation is amazing and I will agree with the claim that it gives a good colour payoff in one stroke. It is also not patchy at all. However, I will like to mention that the darker shade has a better and richer colour pay off. The lip colour doesn’t completely fade away with time and leaves a little tinge instead which looks beautiful.
Demi-Matte Finish: The finish is a bit satiny at first but it dries to a demi-matte finish or a velvety texture. It bleeds a little but nothing which is too bothersome. It doesn’t dry out the lips like the sahara desert.
Vegan: Wet n Wild is a peta- certified brand. Although not all the products are a 100 percent vegan, this particular one is made of natural plant extracts, coenzyme Q10 and vitamins A&E.
Budget Friendly: When you love lipsticks, budget is a huge concern. With these lipsticks you don’t have to worry about it. They deliver good quality for the money you pay.
Shade Range: Now this is the cherry on the cake, the range has a good variety of shades to offer and it will also cater to a lot of skin tones. It has all kinds of shades, from nudes to pinks to reds and maroons, to browns, peaches and orangy shades. It also has some unusal nude shades which would flatter fairer complexions.
Dupes for MAC: A big bonus is that some of the shades are also very close dupes for MAC lipsticks!!Yessssssss!!!! I have mentioned some of them below:
MAC Ruby Woo- Wet n wild Spotlight Red.
MAC Kinda Sexy- Wet n Wild Bare It All.
MAC Rebel- Wet n Wild Sugar Plum Fairy.
MAC Amp It Up- Wet n Wild Mauve Outta here.
MAC Diva- Wet n Wild Cherry Bomb.
It transfers a little because of its velvety finish.
Staying power is a little less but then again they do mention that in their claims! It lasts for 3-4 hours.
The packaging is the biggest con, the bullet is housed in a simple twist up packaging but a part of the bullet keeps jutting out so that when you unscrew or shut the cap, a little lipstick transfers to the cap no matter how careful you are. Things get really messy as the lip colour transfers all over the outer body of the lipstick.
Overall, I would say that these lipsticks are a good buy if you can overlook the packaging. It is a decent affordable lipstick which deserves at least one shot.
In the country that I belong to, most women who have blown or are about to blow twenty-five candles are used to being called someone of “Marriageable” age by concerned aunts and even strangers. And if you are an Indian female who has crossed the age of thirty and is still unmarried, someone in your family is most likely offering special prayers to a deity to perform a miracle and find a groom for you. I am sure that similar phrases and concerned well-wishers exist in other parts of the world too. So what is the real meaning of “marriageable age” and does the term still make sense in the 21st century? Here are my 2 cents on the subject.
As far as I can tell, in the olden days, “marriageable age” largely coincided with the child-bearing age for a woman. This made sense in a conservative society, where one of the most significant purposes of marriage was keeping the family tree alive. However, as is the case with every societal concept, the concept of marriage too has evolved and taken several different shapes over the years. While having kids is still an essential part of marriage for most couples, it is no longer the primary objective for many. What with the changing spousal roles, career aspirations reaching new heights, and science making it feasible to conceive at an age that was unheard of a few decades ago, many individuals, both men and women, are choosing to take things slow, and are opting to tie the knot when they are mentally and financially ready for the changes that marriage brings with it. Additionally, a significant number of couples these days decide not to have kids at all or to adopt, which throws the entire logic of “marriageable age”, as perceived by the generations past, out the window.
Another interesting phenomenon that is largely observed in the cosmopolitan parts of the country/world is people shaming and criticising those who get married “too young”. These individuals are labelled as orthodox and are often referred to as people who have settled too early in life. But what is so wrong with leading a settled life? Doesn’t an unmarried individual too want a comfortable, stress-free, and peaceful life? Or am I wrong in assuming that there is no such turbulence or thrill (other than casual dating, having multiple partners etc.) in the life of a single person that marriage can eliminate? If a couple feels that they are ready to commit to each other, and are of the legal age to get married, then why shouldn’t they? Getting married early comes with its own sets of pros, even in a modern world, such as making the financial and living situation for the couple more practical, giving them more time to enjoy each other’s company before having kids, and making bolder career choices which the parents would gasp over if their son or daughter was unmarried.
The crux of the matter is the freedom of choice. Whether someone wants to choose their own partner or wants to opt for an arranged marriage, whether they want to get married at 22 or 32, and whether or not they want to have kids should be the choice of the persons in question alone. While you can never prevent your friends or family members from questioning your choices, the stigma associated with “marriageable age” needs to go, because many are coerced into making a wrong decision simply based on the stigma, regardless of the reasoning behind it. It is high time that we decide what the right “marriageable age” is for us and stop letting a custom that has gone slightly stale decide it for us.
If you are an old follower of my blog then you might be aware of my struggle with dark circles and fine lines and my hunt for the perfect eye cream. As I am slowly but steadily approaching 30, the fine lines around my eyes have become more prominent, and my search for an affordable but effective eye cream has reached new heights. One day I noticed that the St. Botanica Under Eye Gel has some rave reviews on Nykaa, so I decided to give it a shot because it was affordable compared to some of the most raved about eye creams. I usually don’t review an eye cream until I have used it for approximately 2 months, but in this case, I am making an exception because the reviews on the internet claimed that this eye cream makes a difference within a week or two. I have been using this eye gel two times a day for three weeks now and here are my honest thoughts on the product.
The St. Botanica Under Eye Gel contains Vitamin E, Hyaluronic Acid, Aloe Vera, Cucumber, Argan Oil and Vitamin B3 as its star ingredients. Hyaluronic Acid attracts and seals a lot of moisture on the skin, which is why I expected that this product will plump out the fine lines and make them gradually disappear. The other ingredients sounded promising to provide a cooling effect to tired eyes and to hydrate the skin while lightening dark circles. After using the gel for three weeks, both day and night as recommended by the brand, I can definitely confirm that this gel has a lovely cooling effect that instantly provides relief to my tired under eye area. It is hydrating too, but not as hydrating as I had hoped for, and sometimes gives a stretchy feeling to my skin. I sometimes mix the gel with my Mama Earth Eye Cream to reduce the stretchy feeling and the combination works quite well.
Coming to the miraculous effect of this eye gel as claimed by the reviews, I do see a positive difference in my under eye skin, but nothing as drastic as the reviews suggested. My fine lines have reduced slightly and the under eye skin feels more supple, but the dark circles are still there and have not lightened to a noticeable extent. I am sure, that the benefits of this eye gel will become more evident after another month of use, but what I want to emphasize is the fact that despite what the internet might say, hardly any product, especially an eye cream, provides overnight results, so you have to be patient and regular in using the product to actually reap any of its benefits.
Overall, I feel that the St. Botanica Eye Gel is a good buy at INR 699 for a 30ml travel-friendly bottle that comes with a pump. I love the fact that this gel does not sting the eyes and is, therefore, suitable for those with sensitive eyes. I also enjoy the light hydration and cooling it provides to the under eye area. If you buy this product with the right expectations, i.e. mild hydration and cooling and slight reduction in fine lines then I am sure you will like this eye gel. Just remember to take what you read on the internet with a grain of salt 🙂
I am a bit of a body wash hoarder and can hardly ever resist buying one with an interesting fragrance. What made the Plum Vanilla and Fig – The Rich Shake Body Wash even more exciting was the fact that it was offered as a freebie with my recent Plum purchase, so I could definitely not let the opportunity to try this product slide by. I have been using this in my shower for quite a few days now and here is what I think about the product.
This product comes in a convenient pump bottle that I quite like because it is not messy to use and is travel-friendly. The actual body wash is a white liquid that smells like vanilla, but I am not able to identify the scent of figs in the fragrance. Despite this, the fragrance is absolutely heavenly and lingers on the skin for at least a couple of hours after stepping out of the shower. If you are someone who loves the scent of vanilla, this product will definitely steal your heart.
The product does not lather as much as I usually prefer, and I need at least 3-4 pumps to lather up my whole body to my satisfaction. It is quite gentle on the skin and leaves it looking smooth and supple, but I do not think that this body wash is particularly hydrating when compared to other body washes in the market.
Overall, I like the fact that this product is vegan and paraben-free, but since I have high expectations from Plum as a brand, it did not manage to wow me. I like its fragrance and packaging but the price point of INR 400 for 200ml of the product seems a little steep to me. However, since Plum is always running discounts on this body wash and offering it as a freebie with orders above a certain amount, I think it is worth a shot. Not a product that I will buy at full price, but definitely one that I would love to get again as a gift 🙂
