Guest post by Piyusha from The Peachy Perspective blog

Hey everyone! Today I will be reviewing the Cetaphil Daylong Sunscreen. Cetaphil is a medicated brand which is targeted towards sensitive skin concerns. This brand has been a staple in my skincare routine for about a year and I recently tried out their sunscreen. Read on to know more about how this fared for me!

Price: This retails for INR 1499 for 50ml

My take on the product: I got this sunscreen from a drugstore to try it out because of its promising claims: suitable for sensitive skin. I got this for my face as I have really sensitive skin there. This sunscreen comes in a box and has an orange and white tube packaging. The cap is very sturdy which I quite like. The packaging is travel-friendly and quite handy in my opinion.  The product has a smooth texture and an almost liquid consistency with a slight chemical-like scent which goes away within a few minutes of application. It doesn’t feel greasy on the skin and mattifies instantly after application which I like. I’m unsure about the claim of water resistance as I haven’t really tested it, but considering how matte it looks on the skin and how easily it gets absorbed, I’m assuming it should be decently water resistant.

Coming to the price point, I feel that this is a bit overpriced. It would have been good if it was priced at around INR 700. Owing to its high SPF, although it blends with ease on the skin, it leaves a whitish cast which I honestly don’t prefer on my face at least! It works for the skin on the rest of my body quite well when I mix it with a moisturizer to aid in blending and to reduce the whitish tinge, however it didn’t work for my face. It broke me out within 2-3 days of continuous usage which I was disappointed about given that this product has listed claims of being ‘hypoallergenic’ and ‘oil-free’.

The PROs of the product

  • High SPF
  • No strong scent/fragrance
  • Paraben free
  • Liquidy texture that eases in blending
  • Travel friendly packaging

The CONs of the product

  • Broke me out on the face
  • Expensive
  • Doesn’t live up to all its claims
  • Leaves a whitish cast on the skin

In a nutshell, as contradictory as it sounds, I initially didn’t like this sunscreen but I do quite like this sunscreen these days for its texture, consistency, high SPF, and the fact that it’s so lightweight on the skin, although it does have its share of shortcomings. I would recommend this one if you are looking for a paraben-free sunscreen with a high SPF and a light formula. I wouldn’t repurchase this though as it didn’t work for my face.
