Nykaa has recently released a LARGE number of products and it is becoming extremely hard even for the beauty bloggers to keep up with their releases. However, I did manage to get my hands on one product from their new launches that I knew that I would finish up for sure, and obviously, it had to be a kajal. The latest addition to their range of kajals is the Nykaa Eyem 24/7 Kajal which I have been trying out for you guys over the past few days.
This kajal is a smudge-proof, waterproof, jet black kajal that comes in a twist up packaging. It fares really well in the pigmentation department and does stay on the eyes for a long time (7-8 hours) when used on the waterline or as an eyeliner. In terms of pigmentation and final look, this kajal reminds of the Plum kajal but this one is a fraction of the price (INR 299), making it the more affordable buy. However, I feel that it is slightly harder than the Plum kajal and does tug at the waterline a little bit during application.
I also have mixed feelings about this being a twist up kajal. I tend to prefer the old school pencil versions because I notice that the twist up variety often breaks. In fact, a small chunk of this kajal also broke off while I was swatching the product on my hand. Also, Nykaa has added a pink rubber grip to the pencil for better hold but to be honest I feel that it would have been as easy to use without the grip but the pink accent does make the pencil look cooler.
Overall, this eye pencil does live up to its claims of being long-lasting and budge-proof. I also like that the formula does not irritate my sensitive eyes, which is pretty rare for me. So if you are looking for an affordable Kajal that stays put all day long then you must give this one a shot. I am sure you will love it if you do not mind twist-up pencils.
A good sunscreen is a must for everyone, whether they spend long hours in the sun or not. I have been quite lazy with my sunscreens in the past but this year I had resolved to use them daily and I am happy to report that I have been able to fulfill the resolution to a large extent. The primary reason why some people hate sunscreen is because it is an extra step in their skincare regimen and is often greasy, sticky, or does not sit well on the skin. For this reason, I have been opting for day creams that contain a fairly high SPF as well, and the Loreal Paris UV Perfect Even Complexion is one such product that I have recently added to my skincare stash.
This product is essentially a tinted moisturiser, with a very high SPF of 50+, and claims to provide protection against UV rays for up to 12 hours. I am not sure about the 12-hour claim but I am fairly certain that it is potent enough to protect you from the sun for a good 3-4 hours if you apply it right before heading out, which suits the requirements of most individuals. It is a very light and non-greasy moisturiser that provides mild hydration to the skin and is perfect for those with normal to oily skin. It is also tinted but the pigmentation is not intense at all and it won’t provide you much coverage. However, it does provide a glow to the face and reduces any redness by a small amount.
I like the nozzle dispenser, because it prevents the wastage of the product, and find the packaging pretty compact and cute. However, I do wish that the for the price of INR 550 for a 30ml bottle, this product contained a little more pigment. With the current intensity of the tint, only those with fairly clear skin can wear it on its own while those with pigmented or blemished skin will need to use a foundation or concealer on top if they want to cover up the spots.
Overall, if you are on the hunt for a moisturiser with a high SPF then this product will definitely work for you. It also comes in a non-tinted variant in case you do not care for the tint. Even though the product is slightly pricey, the high SPF justifies the cost and I love that it is not heavy or greasy at all. This is the only non-matte sunscreen that blends well into my skin and I therefore recommend all of you to give it a shot.
I always tend to switch up my fragrance when the weather moves from summer to winter. While I am all about light, aquatic-floral scents in the summer months, I prefer something warmer, sweeter, and muskier in the winters. This year, my winter scent is The Body Shop White Musk Smoky Rose Fragrance Mist. The Body Shop has different scents in its musk range but this is the perfect one for me because it isn’t too spicy or sweet, and nor is it too strong and manly, due to the floral hits of rose.
When you first spray the scent, the top notes that are quite musky will hit you and it will smell more sharp than floral, but once you let it settle for around 20-30 minutes, it turns into a beautiful blend of musk and rose. I would call it a sophisticated and warm floral scent which is a more grown-up scent than an out an out floral but not too mature either. The longevity of this mist is pretty good too, it does fade throughout the day but a faint fragrance stays on my skin even the next day. It is of course not as strong as a perfume because it is a body mist but if you do not want to fill the room with fragrance yet want to smell good throughout the day then this soft fragrance will do the job for you. If you want to build it up then you can even opt for the body lotion from the range.
Overall, I am really pleased with my choice of fragrance for the cold weather and will recommend this body mist to all those who have a similar preference in scents. This mist retails for around INR 1200, which is approximately half the price of the perfume in the same scent, making it a more affordable option for students and young professionals. Personally, I do find The Body Shop products overpriced in India but still like to invest in their body mists because they last so long and suit my taste really well. So the next time you are at a Body Shop store do give this scent a whiff and I am sure you will love it too!
The chilly weather means that the days of hot chocolate, cozy scarves and dark nails are here. One of the shades that I hardly ever wear in summer but love to sport on my nails in winter is a jewel-toned purple, and the Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamel in the shade Amethyst fits the bill perfectly.
This shade is a dark purple with a metallic sheen that looks chic but not vampy. It is a color that will look good on both short nails and long nails and will go well with most outfits. It is the right mix of being bold and sophisticated and I really enjoy it as a winter shade. The formula is also fairly chip resistant and lasts on the nails for at least a week. The only issue with this particular shade is that it goes on a little patchy and you will need at least 3 coats to get a perfectly opaque finish. It has a thin brush that allows precise application and works well with the slightly runny consistency of the nail paint.
The Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Nail Paints are priced at INR 460 in India, which is quite pricey to be honest, however, the large (11.7ml) bottle makes up for the price slightly. If you are looking for something affordable then these nail paints are not the best option for you but if you are in love with a particular shade and want something long wearing then they will provide you your money’s worth for sure.
I received the Hedonista Choco-Nut Lip Salve in my Mauvelush November Mellow Edition and my lips have been smelling and tasting like chocolate ever since. This gourmet lip balm is made of ingredients such as melted chocolate, peanut butter and cocoa butter which makes it hard not to eat a spoonful of the product. It also contains a bunch of nourishing oils such as castor oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, as well as beeswax, that make it extremely rich and hydrating.
The lip balm is pretty thick but melts upon application, leaving a nourishing layer of oil on the lips that makes them super soft and moisturized. I am usually not a fan of lip balms that come in a tub packaging because you need to dip your fingers in them every single time, but this kind of a thick and waxy lip balm is what my lips need during the colder months or else they become extremely parched.
The lip balm is almost transparent and does not sit oddly on the lips like some of the other thicker lip balms. It sinks into the lips really fast and keeps them hydrated for several hours. If you are someone who enjoys the smell of chocolate then you will love this product, especially for the winter months. However, if you are not a fan of strong, sweet scents in beauty products then you may want to give this one a pass.
Overall, I do enjoy this product a lot and love its cute (and luxurious) packaging too. I also appreciate the fact that this lip salve does not contain any parabens, sulfates or phthalates. I do wish that the price of the product was much lesser than the INR 465 for which it retails but to be fair this 15gm tub will last you for months. This is a must buy for lip balm lovers who prefer something extra-nourishing as well as uniquely flavored.
Reviewing a skincare product can be hard. You have to make sure that you do not make any other changes to your skincare routine while reviewing the product in question but there are still factors that could come into play, such as the weather, hormones, and the food you eat. At times I have to squint my eyes and stare hard at the mirror to figure out whether a particular cream or serum has made any difference to my skin but with the product I am going to talk about today, the improvement to the texture of my skin was so drastic that no magnifying lens was required for the review 😛 This wonderful product is the Tvakh 5% Vitamin C Glow Booster Exfoliating Water.
This product is essentially a toner that you need to use after washing your face, before going in with a moisturiser. I have been using it for around 10 days as a part of my evening skincare routine and am already thoroughly impressed with the product. I will definitely update this blog post if my thoughts change after a month or so but as of now, I feel that this product has lightened my spots and given a healthy glow to my skin that is clearly visible even from a distance. This efficacy of the product is due to the impressive list of ingredients, which include a generous dose of Vitamin C, a miracle skincare ingredient that is supposed to add a glow, diminish fine lines, and reduce any dullness. The product also contains Glycolic Acid, which is known to be an excellent exfoliator for acne-prone skin, along with a bunch of other superfoods for the skin as mentioned in the picture below. These days a lot of products claim to have these ingredients but it all boils down to having them in the right concentration, which the team at Tvakh seems to have nailed.
This toner is almost transparent with a hint of orange and smells citrusy with chemical undertones. It does tingle a little during the first few uses but is not harsh at all on the face once the skin gets used to it. It has not only helped with lightening my spots and brightening my skin but I have also noticed my dead skin peeling off faster than usual, making the product live up to its claim of being an exfoliating water. I would say that every skin type will benefit from using the product, provided you do not have extremely sensitive or dry skin. It is particularly suitable for acne and blemish-prone skin because it also helps with shrinking the pimples faster.
Overall, I am completely satisfied with the product, other than the packaging that could be improved with a better dispensing mechanism. A 100ml bottle of the toner is priced at INR 525, which is a fair deal considering the quantity you get and the quality of the product. So if you are in the market for a toner that also exfoliates and brightens the skin then the Tvakh Vitamin C Glow Booster Exfoliating Water is my recommendation for you.
