I finally caved and purchased the much-hyped Plum All Day Wear Kohl, and I am so glad that I did! I can never step out of the house without some Kajal on my waterline, this is how I justified adding yet another pencil to my armament. It has now become my favorite kohl for the days when I need a long-wearing product.
It is the creamiest black formula that glides on the waterline without any pulling or dragging. I have extremely sensitive eyes and am always wary of trying a new formulation, but this one is a paraben-free, vegan formula which does not irritate my eyes at all. It is a rich black that is smudge proof and waterproof as well. I have fairly watery eyes and every kajal I use tends to collect near the corners after a few hours. With this product too I see a little bit of smudging around the tear ducts after 3-4 hours but a majority of the color stays intact and looks fresh even after 8 hours.
I am quite impressed with this product and find that it is a creamier version of my previous favorite, Colorbar’s Just Smoky Eye Pencil. The Colorbar one is more expensive and does tug at the waterline a little, so this one is a more affordable option although I love both the products.
I am wearing this kohl on my waterline in this picture, it is a potent black that provides a bold look in one swipe. The only issue I have with this product is that I need to sharpen it, and lazy me does not like that. However, these kinds of pencils have way more product than the retractable ones and do not break as easily too, so perhaps the small effort of sharpening these is a good exercise for my wrists. A 1.2 gm pencil is available for INR 425 which is a fair price for the quality. I am sure one pencil will last a long time because of the high concentration of color. I will definitely let you know how long it lasts for me!
It has been less than a month since I created this blog and yesterday I hit 100 subscribers, just in time for Valentine’s Day. I love the wonderful community of fellow bloggers that have stopped by to appreciate and encourage me in the first leg of my journey. The best part is that I had not known any of you before I started this blog, so basically, I made 100 new friends. I want to thank each one of you with all my heart.
The spirit of love is in the air, thanks to the occasion of Valentine’s Day. Even though some of you may not believe in the concept of this day, but I take it as a reminder to spare some time to think about all those who play a crucial role in my life. This is a wonderful opportunity and excuse to put your thoughts into words and express your love for those who matter. They may already know that you care but a little reaffirmation does go a long way!
Extending the same to this blog, I would like to express my love by arranging a giveaway. I am not sure about the details yet, perhaps I will keep it open till I reach 500 (or 300) subscribers or maybe I will announce the winner on my birthday next month. I am not even sure about the prize yet, but it will either be some lip products or eye products or both. Since it is my first giveaway there will be only one winner and only those living in India or having an Indian address will be eligible (I am really sorry that this one is not international but I promise that the second one will be international for sure!).
To enter the giveaway you have to do the following –
I am usually very lazy when it comes to moisturizing my body and therefore opt for lightweight body lotions that get absorbed into the skin quickly. The Vivel Cell Renew Body Lotion – Deep Smoothing is one of my favorites for this precise reason, it is light yet potent enough to make my skin supple and smooth.
It is a non-greasy formula with tiny green vitamin E beads that burst on the skin to provide nourishment. To be very honest, one of the primary reasons that I always repurchase this product is because it has a granny smell that I love! If you are a nostalgic soul like me who associates scents with memories then you will understand where I am coming from. It is a strong, sweet smell that reminds me of something that my Grandma used when I was a child.
A 2ooml bottle of this product is available at a very affordable price of INR 250. They also have a night replenish lotion that I am dying to try next!
A couple of you commented on my Valentine’s Day makeup post that you really liked the lip color, so I decided to write a dedicated post about it. I was wearing the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in the shade 225 Sultry, a perfect pink for Valentine’s Day.
I have already reviewed another shade from this range in a previous post but this particular shade looks much more flattering on a wider range of skin tones. Sultry has the minty smell and tingling sensation that is characteristic of this range but is more creamy and forgiving than the shade Elusive.
The color is a deep, dusty pink that is an almost nude pink for my skin tone. The fact that the formula lasts for at least 6 hours on the lips makes it ideal for when you are out and about. It is perfect for both work and play and pairs well with a wide selection of outfits. Bear in mind that this is a matte formula that demands moisturized and scrubbed lips to work its magic.
I must say that the folks at Revlon know how to get their lip products right. There is not one lip product from the brand that has disappointed me yet.
Grab this lip crayon for INR 950 to recreate this romantic look for Valentine’s Day. It is a must have color for the upcoming spring and summer months!
I am not a huge fan of hairsprays because they leave my fine hair looking crispy and stiff. However, there are days when I want my curls to hold and I always go back to this product to achieve a natural look. The Loreal Paris Lock It Fine Control Hairspray claims to provide 48-hour hold and it actually does. It does not leave the hair crunchy and hard and you can easily brush through the hair if you need to.
This product is perfect for daily use as well because it is not too heavy. It does have a perfumy smell though, which I personally like but those who are sensitive to fragrances might have an issue with. A giant 8.25 oz can is priced at around INR 850 in India and is ideal for the days when your hair just won’t cooperate.

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a great day! I have decided to start a weekly series of posts about very affordable beauty and skincare products. The cost of most of these products will be less than INR 500 but I will try to find products that are even cheaper! These products are an excellent choice for beginners and those who just don’t want to spend too much money on makeup. I am kick starting this series with an extremely inexpensive eyeliner that I adore, the Lakme Insta Liner.
This is the first eyeliner that I ever purchased, simply because it is priced at only INR 110 for a 9 ml bottle and can be found at discounted rates on various shopping sites. The little bottle lasts me at least a couple of months and does not dry out even when stored for much longer durations. It is a matte black eyeliner with a thin applicator that resembles a paint brush. The brush is perfect for those who are experimenting with eyeliners for the first time as it is easy to control and can be used to create both a natural look as well as a dramatic one.
The formula is quite decent for the price, it is reasonably water resistant when dry but is not smudge proof. You may need a couple of swipes to get a true black color but the product is quite buildable and not patchy at all. Give it a few minutes to dry after application to achieve a dark, matte black look. It lasts on the eyes for up to 8 hours, but starts fading a little after a couple of hours and does not remain the blackest of black by the end of the day.
A very important factor is that although it is affordable, this formula does not irritate the eyes at all. When it comes to your face and especially your eyes, you should not compromise on quality at the risk of allergic reactions or long term damage. Lakme is a trustworthy brand and I can personally vouch that their products are perfectly safe and suitable for sensitive skin and eyes too.
I usually go for a very thin line just to define my lashes but today I created something a little more dramatic to show what you can achieve with this product. You just need to be careful not to rub your eyes because this product will smudge, bleed and even disappear if touched, but otherwise has great longevity. I believe that it is the best eyeliner available in India for such an incredible price and would definitely recommend it to everybody.
Who doesn’t enjoy fun bath time products? They add an element of color to an otherwise mundane activity. If you are a firm believer in eye-catching packaging then Anatomicals is the right brand for you. This UK based company combines great skincare and bath products with quirky packaging that has a unique appeal. Today I will review The Buff Stuff Citrus Body Scrub from their range.
Usually, I am too lazy to use a body scrub because it adds yet another step to my shower routine, however, the fresh citrus scent of this scrub beckons me each day. The scrub comes in a bright pink and yellow tube with humorous quotes that will leave you giggling while the product works its magic on your skin. Furthermore, the actual color of the product is also a lovely grapefruit pink with tiny white scrub particles. The particles are gritty enough to help you get rid of dead skin and ingrown hair and daily usage will remove a tan uniformly to reveal soft and smooth skin.
I think that this body scrub is very effective, yet gentle enough for all skin types. As an added bonus, the formula is paraben free as well! What more could you ask for from a scrub that does not burn too big a hole in your pocket? You can pick up a 200ml tube for INR 650, which in my opinion is great value for money. So go ahead and give this amazing product a shot!
If your skin is oily and acne prone like mine then this product might be the answer to your prayers! The Avene Cleanance Mask is the face mask that I turn to every time I suffer from massive breakouts or when my skin generates excessive quantities of oil.
This unique product combines the exfoliating powers of a scrub with the oil-absorbing potential of a mask to create a tube full of skincare goodness. You can either use it as a daily scrub or as a weekly mask for deep cleansing. To use as a mask, just apply the product to moist skin and leave it on for 5 minutes, then rub in the product with your fingers using circular motions and rinse with water.
Avene’s Cleanance range is particularly designed for oily skin issues and this product fits the bill perfectly. The exfoliating particles are quite gritty and do a great job of removing dead skin cells. When used as a mask, the soft clay helps to absorb excess sebum, leaving your skin supple and extremely soft. The product is also enriched with Avene Thermal Spring Water that is supposed to help calm irritated skin.
I really love this product but would like to throw out a word of caution that it does tingle a bit upon application and the scrubbing particles might be too harsh for sensitive skin. The only other con of this product is that it is priced at INR 1320 for a 50 ml tube, however, I would say that it is a product worth the investment, especially if your skin needs some major rescuing.
In the recent months, Nykaa has really been raising the bar for beauty products in India. What started out as a humble online portal for buying makeup has now become an exclusive doorway that has brought various international brands to the country. Not just that, Nykaa has also released their own range of beauty products, and boy, they certainly take their makeup seriously. I have already raved about their gorgeous nail paints in my previous posts, so today I will talk about their So Matte Lipstick in the shade 16M Spiced Cabernet.
It is unbelievable that such a great product is available at an extremely affordable price of INR 399. Nykaa has successfully recreated high-end quality at drugstore prices. Even the matte black square packaging with magnetic closure is something new for Indian brands and reminiscent of luxury products.
The formula is a comfortable, creamy matte that stays on the lips all day long without drying them out. It fades a little gradually but does not exaggerate cracks or creases in the least. I usually do not wear dark, vampy colors on my lips but fell in love with this shade. I would describe it as a warm brownish maroon that does not look too vampy and accentuates winter outfits really well.
I will definitely purchase more lip products from this brand because their recent release of nude shades literally has me drooling!
P.S. – This is not a sponsored post, just genuine love for a great brand that has evolved right in front of my eyes 🙂
When it comes to Valentine’s Day, I always prefer to go for a pink and floral themed outfit. This look, however, is also perfect for any date in the daytime or a brunch with the girls. I think that the slight hint of green in the makeup adds a special touch and pairs really well with the shades of pink.
This look is very easy to recreate with basic products and would go well with pastel colored dresses if you tweak the shades as per your outfit.
I do not like to spend too much time on getting ready, so I usually opt for a simple look like this.
These are the products that I used on my face today-
1. Foundation – Loreal Infallible 24H Foundation in the shade 250-Radiant Sand.
2. Concealer – Loreal True Match Concealer in the shade Light-Medium
3. Eyeshadow – Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush in Fresh Coral & the light green shade from the Rimmel Comfort Zone Palette.
4. Eyeliner + Waterline – NYX Eye Pencil in the shade 909 – Vert
5. Mascara – The Maybelline Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara
5. Lips – Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in the shade 225 – Sultry
6. A touch of bronzer from the Makeup Revolution Protection Palette in the shade medium.
What are your plans for Valentine’s Day and what are you going to wear?
I try to keep my makeup as organized as possible and clean my makeup drawer from time to time. Sorting out your makeup storage area not only helps to keep things neat but also reminds you of all the stuff you have and what you need to buy (and not buy!). Here is a sneak peek into my makeup drawer.
I have organized all my lip products, eye makeup and face makeup in 3 separate shoe boxes. This helps me grab products quickly in the morning and the shoe boxes serve as very inexpensive storage options. The boxes can even be taped up securely when you move house, without any extra packing effort.
My hair pins and ties are in a few of the makeup bags that I receive from makeup subscription companies like FabBag, so they are almost free of cost as well. I make sure to have a few empty makeup pouches at an arm’s length, for throwing my favorite makeup into when I have to travel.
For my jewelry and other items, I retain small boxes from the packaging of the products that I purchase online. These boxes come in really handy for storing earrings and rings. Other than that, I have a few loose bottles and baubles stuffed in the crevices, because such is life. Overall I’m quite happy with my makeup drawer because it is reasonably neat and functionally efficient.
