Most of us pay a lot of attention to skin care but somehow tend to neglect our feet, which are often left unpampered. Our feet are probably the parts of our body that get most grimy and dirty throughout the day and if we do not pay enough attention we may end up with foot infections and scaly skin.
The Body Shop Peppermint Foot Scrub smells so minty and fresh that I would purchase it just for the scent, however, it is an excellent foot scrub as well! The scrub is white with a gel-like texture and has gritty scrub particles embedded in it.
All you need to do is scoop out some scrub and rub it into your feet for a good 4-5 minutes and then rinse with water. I like to moisten my feet first to create a milky lather. It removes all the dead skin and leaves my feet feeling smooth and supple.
The freshness provided by the peppermint oil combined with the goodness of volcanic rock that alleviates roughness makes this a perfect product for me. It is also quite affordable with a price of INR 650 for a 100ml jar. This is my go-to product to rescue my feet from all sorts of damage!
Today is one of those horrible days when nothing seems to be going well! On such occasions when I am lacking motivation and energy, a bright lipstick helps in eliminating the blues and makes me feel more put together. On sick days, I stick with easy to apply, dependable makeup that is also comfortable to wear. The Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in the shade 001 India Intrigue fits the bill perfectly!
There isn’t a single thing that I dislike about this product, which is quite rare for a picky person like me. The formula is very moisturizing and glides on evenly with the help of the doe foot applicator. The color is a blue toned dark pink which is quite opaque when applied but fades gradually throughout the day, leaving behind a beautiful pink stain. I love the perky pink shade that is capable of lifting my spirits and brightening my face instantly.
What I like the most about this product is that the color does not settle in the creases and the tint lasts on my lips for at least 8 hours.
The product is priced at INR 725 for an 8ml bottle but is available in a wide array of colors, at around INR 550, on various online portals. It is a perfect, hydrating lip color for the low-maintenance days 🙂
‘Tis the season of strawberries galore and I am immersing myself in the scent of this succulent fruit. As if consuming strawberries with every meal is not enough, I insist on smelling like a strawberry all day long and that’s where this body mist comes into the picture!
The Body Shop Strawberry Body Mist has a sweet strawberry candy scent with a very faint sour undertone that is reminiscent of the aftertaste of the fruit. The scent lingers on all day long and you only need a little spritz if you do not want to go overboard.
Priced at INR 795 for a 100 ml bottle, I think that the Body Shop Body Mists are an affordable alternative to their perfumes that cost much more. In fact, the longevity of the mists is better than that of some of the not too expensive perfumes of other brands that I have tried. I would recommend this body mist to all those who love fruity scents and are not averse to slightly sickening sweet smells.
What is your favorite Spring fragrance? I would love to get some great recommendations 🙂
I love the wide array of makeup removers that have hit the drugstores but still do not feel satisfied until I lather up my face and splash it with water. On the occasions when I do use makeup wipes or micellar water, I still end up going for a second cleanse with a face wash so that my skin feels completely fresh and the pores are unclogged.
I do love Bioderma for removing my eye makeup as it works wonderfully with even waterproof mascara and does not irritate the eyes. It does remove face makeup really well too but my skin still needs a more thorough scrubbing to breathe freely.
I would definitely recommend this product because it removes makeup quickly and is suitable for sensitive skin. A 250 ml bottle of Bioderma Sensible H2O is available on Nykaa.com at INR 945. It may seem a bit expensive but you only need a few drops to clean your entire face and neck area. Also, it is much lighter on the skin than most makeup removers that I have tried and gets my vote of approval!
Do let me know what is your favorite product for makeup removal!
If only I could summon spring by wearing bright colors! I almost detest winters because they are so dull and dreary and seem to suck the energy out of me. I love being up and about but the cold weather always casts an evil spell on me and I end up doing nothing. Things are looking up now because the clover leaves are starting to appear and the grass is getting greener, therefore, I am joining the celebration by embracing spring colors.
Today on my nails, I am wearing the Nykaa Pastel Nail Enamel in the shade #48 Lemon Pudding and am loving the vibes of spring that this color is imparting to my look :). Nykaa always knocks my socks off with the beautiful color selection of every nail paint range that they bring out. All the colors that I have tried out till now are unique and at par in terms of variety with the international brands. This particular shade is a muted, milky yellow, which makes it so much more wearable than an over the top bright yellow.
Although the formula of Nykaa nail enamels is not the best (it starts chipping and cracking on my nails within 2 days), I keep getting drawn to this range because of the attractive colors. I really hope that they improve their formula a little or introduce a range with a gel formula.
A 9 ml bottle of this nail paint is priced at INR 179. I would recommend trying out all the pastel shades from this range for spring.
Coconut Oil is not only great for cooking but is also replete with a lot of beauty benefits. Today I will tell you about 5 ways in which coconut oil acts as an inexpensive alternative to costly beauty products.
1. Shaving – Application of coconut oil to your legs before shaving leaves them supple and smooth and free of any razor burn. It is a moisturizer and shaving cream all rolled into one!
2. Lip Conditioning – Coconut oil has wonderful moisturizing properties and applying this oil to the lips before going to bed will hydrate your lips and reduce pigmentation and chapping.
3. Eyelash growth – If you feel like you are shedding your lashes too fast or want them to be longer and thicker then apply some coconut oil to the roots of your lashes with a cotton bud. You will notice a significant improvement in the density of your lashes within a few days!
4. Lightening of the elbows – If the skin around your elbow and knee areas is dark and dull then apply a few drops of warm coconut oil every day to restore brightness.
5. Taming those flyaways – A few drops of coconut oil can instantly put those baby hair at bay! You can also use coconut oil at the roots to recreate the sleek, pulled back hairstyle that is so in trend these days.
I am always very uncomfortable applying blush because I worry that I will use too much and end up looking like a painted doll. The City Color Cheek Stain in the shade Berry is one of the very few cheek products that I am able to wear with complete ease.
The product comes in a stick form which reminds me of my school days when my mom would apply her lipstick as a blush on my cheeks for school events.
I like that the formula is a cream because I feel that it gives more control while blending as compared to a powder. The color payoff is very good but the formula blends easily with a brush or even fingers, to give a pink, berry toned flush to the cheeks. As an added bonus, the formula is paraben free and the packaging is tiny and compact and perfect for carrying around in the purse.
I got mine as a part of my Fab Bag, but unfortunately, it is currently available online in India at a very high price of around INR 1400 on the Amazon website. I would recommend this product if it is available at a drugstore price in your country.
I am currently on the lookout for an affordable orange/brown toned blush, do let me know if you have any recommendations!
As I mentioned in my previous post, my skin has been breaking out terribly over the past few weeks. I am, therefore, trying to go makeup free on most days and have been sticking to just a moisturizer for my face. Unfortunately, my skin still gets very oily throughout the day and I try not to use a face cleanser more than twice daily. This quandary resulted in me fishing through my makeup drawers for a good powder and behold, I came across this gem.
The Palladio Rice Powder in Warm Beige matches my skin tone perfectly and provides a light coverage, while keeping my skin oil free for around 3-4 hours. I apply this to my bare, moisturized skin and this powder blends in perfectly without leaving any white cast or cakiness. I have used this powder previously as a setting powder for my foundation and it performed well in that case as well.
Palladio is an American brand that is well known for the inclusion of natural ingredients and vitamins in their makeup products. The concept of Rice Powder seems to have been inspired by Asian beauty, where rice powder has been used for generations for its blotting properties. The cute little box has an Oriental feel to it; it comes with a puff for application and a mesh based dispenser (which does get a little bit messy at times!). Warm Beige is the darkest shade in this range that also includes a lighter shade as well as a translucent powder. A container of Rice Powder is priced at $7, and Palladio has also introduced Rice Papers for blotting your face on the go.
Have you ever tried any product from this brand? I would love to know about your experiences!
I first used the Loreal Paris go360 Clean Anti-Breakout Facial Cleanser many years ago and then forgot all about it. It was a couple of weeks ago when my skin started breaking out terribly that I suddenly recalled how this face wash had sorted my skin out several moons ago. I immediately repurchased this product and my skin is already in a much better shape!
The formula is tailor-made for acne prone skin and contains salicylic acid that always works better for me as compared to benzoic acid. However, the star of this product is the cleansing brush that comes along with the face wash. It is a plastic pad with tiny bristles that helps provide a much better cleansing action than washing the face with your fingers. My skin feels squeaky clean after I use this brush and it even gets the gross stuff out of the pores.
The fact that this brush resembles the head of an electric facial cleansing brush has encouraged me to think about investing in the gadget. However, if you want to try out a less expensive version first, then this face wash & brush duo is a good place to start. I think the go360 range has a face wash for sensitive skin and an exfoliating scrub as well, all of which come with a plastic scrub. A 178 ml bottle of either of these products is priced at around INR 400 but is usually available for around INR 300 on online portals. This time I will be holding on to the brush even when I run out of the face wash!
Matte pink lips are probably one of the most popular looks for daily wear, they complement most outfits and are work appropriate too. The Revlon Colorbust Matte Balm in the shade Elusive provides the perfect pink matte finish to the lips without being too uncomfortable to wear.
The product is marketed as a matte balm, which means that it is smoother and more moisturizing than a matte lipstick. The balm has a minty scent as well as a slight tingling sensation on the lips, quite like lip plumping products although it doesn’t make my lips any fuller. Do not be fooled by the word “balm” because, unlike most balms, this product provides great color payoff which is completely opaque in one swipe. The shade Elusive is a pretty blue toned pink which is a bit too light for my medium skin tone but would look amazing on lighter skin tones in my opinion. Be wary of the fact that the color does look darker in the packaging as compared to on the lips.
Personally, I find this formula to be very unforgiving when it comes to pigmented or chapped lips, it exaggerates all the lines and cracks on my lips :(. I recommend scrubbing and moisturizing your lips before applying this product so as to prevent creasing. The color lasts on my lips for a good 4-5 hours and does not transfer much on eating or drinking. Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms are available in 8 different shades in India which are all perfect for different Indian skin tones. A 2.7 gm crayon is available for INR 950 which I feel is a good price for a matte lip product and I would suggest giving this range a shot.
What could be better than a product that extends the longevity of your makeup by hours? I can’t think of anything more useful. The Loreal Paris Infallible Pro-Spray & Set is a setting spray that makes my makeup last for an unbelievable 12 hours regardless of the products that I use underneath.
The spray comes out as a fine, fragrant mist that dries within a minute, leaving a slight glow on the face. I achieve best results if I combine this spray with matte products. I feel that it also prevents makeup from settling in the lines and provides a blurred and perfectly blended look, quite like a primer.
I reserve this product only for special occasions when I need to look impeccable because I obtained mine at a steep price of INR 2200! However, I have noticed that the 100ml bottle is now available for INR 1600 on some websites but I still think that it is too much money to spend on an item whose job can be mimicked by a great primer or a long lasting foundation. I would recommend this product to those whose job demands looking flawless at all times or who wish to use this strictly for particular events.
Our hectic lifestyles leave us with no time to wash our hair regularly and even if that is not the case, too much shampooing can leave your hair stripped and dry. Dry shampoo is the magical product that gets rid of all the oil and grime that accumulates on the hair in between washes. It has been my savior on several occasions when an urgent appointment sprung up when I was not expecting to present myself to humanity 🙂
The only complaint that I have against dry shampoos is that they leave a horrible white cast which looks like dandruff on my hair. Imagine my delight when I discovered Batiste Instant Hair Refresh Dry Shampoo for Dark Hair, a dry shampoo infused with a color that matches my dark brown hair perfectly. This product is also available in a lighter color for medium brown hair. I wish that Indian brands would launch colored dry shampoo soon because most of the population is dark haired.
I spray this product near my scalp and gently massage it in with my fingers to salvage second-day and even third-day hair. This dry shampoo combines the trusted Batiste formula with a hint of color, providing much-needed volume at my roots and making them look squeaky clean. A 200ml can of Batiste Instant Hair Refresh Dry Shampoo is available in India for INR 750. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who, like me, is too lazy to wash their hair every day.
